Fabric Wrapped Recycled Bath Accessories

I ate a $16 jar of nuts from a hotel minibar at 2 am on a recent business trip. In the morning, I was angry at the jar. I wanted it to do more for me than just sit there empty, taunting me with its salty fattening expensiveness.
With the beauty of Jacinda's Fabric Vase in mind, I brought the jar home, found another glass canister, and with the help of a fabric scrap from my collection, repurposed them into cotton ball and q-tip holders for the bathroom. So there jar, the joke's on you!

Handmade Hanukkah / Baby Food Jar Project: Dreidel Game Sets!

I wanted to make some DIY Hanukkah treats for Scarlet's daycare friends (Molly, Jameison, Julian, and Chance we love you!) so I put together these little dreidel game kits.  It's a fun Hanukkah craft favor and a cute way to recycle baby food jars.  Get the full how-to after the jump...

Backyard Tangerine Vanilla Bean Marmalade

We are so lucky that our new home has a gorgeous, giant tangerine tree and the fruit is just ripening, so get ready for an onslaught of tangerine recipes. Up first is tangerine marmalade.  I guess you aren't really supposed to use Baby Food Jars for preserves but I feel like that's all part of the big brother jam & jelly racket keeping us down.  I sterilized the jars and used a technique to seal them (after the jump), but in reality baby food jars are so small you'll easily use up the contents pretty quickly anyway.  Bring a jar to your holiday dinners and serve with the cheese course, yum!

Baby Food Jar Projects: Soy Candle Place Cards

So I've never really had the urge to make a candle, but I have all these baby food jars and the fabric tea lights were so popular, I thought I'd give it a shot.  It's crazy easy, you can buy everything you need at Michael's or Amazon cheaply, and the result is a super-posh way to recycle baby food jars into fun party place cards that will make everyone think you are some sort of crafty wizard.

Hey thanks OhDeeDoh for the post today!
and thanks to Re-Nest too!

Baby Food Jar Projects: Toasted Pumpkin Seed Holder

I like the idea of lining up a bunch of flavors and serving them in labeled baby food jars on Halloween with cider.  There's not much DIY here, just put them in the jar, but these are Garlic Parmesan flavored and go well with the Stuffed Pumpkin...recipe after the jump!

Baby Food Jar Projects: Halloween Specimen Container

Water, food coloring, and a rubber rat make for a creepy decoration.  Or even better, keep a straight face while you serve it for breakfast.  Tell them it's organic, it says so right on the lid.

Baby Food Jar Projects: Homemade Butter

Making your own butter may seem like a crazy thing to do, but it's actually quite easy, very delicious, and a good way to use cream that might otherwise go bad. I made mine with sea salt and packaged it in a baby food jar; I would bring this to a dinner party as an alternative to a bottle of wine.

Baby Food Jar Projects: Fabric Tea Lights

Kind of fun for Halloween, right? And it only takes five minutes.
Just cut a strip of fabric with pinking shears, wrap it around your baby food jar, secure with hot glue, add tea light and enjoy!

I used three fabrics from the Heather Ross Mendocino line: Kelp Forest in ChocolateSeahorses in Orange and Giant Octopi in Gold.

Baby Food Jar Projects: Pretty Pesto

I've been wanting to come up with realistic ideas for how to re-use baby food jars- things I might actually do.  Here's the first one that just struck me as I was attempting to use up the overgrown parsley from my garden in a pesto for dinner - Pesto Jar.  Cute for a dinner party gift.  Get the recipe after the jump...
