DIY Blooming Heart Valentines Decoration

While I was "working" (i.e. scoping out the web for cute Valentine's day tutes) I came across this gorgeousness on Punkin Pattern. I'm so glad I discovered this site, there's so much cuteness there!

I asked the creator, Vanessa, if she would share the tute with us, and she agreed.  I see so many variations on this, I just love how it's sweet but not as saccharine as some traditional Valentines day decorations.

DIY: Simple & Stunning Living Succulent Wreath

This succulent wreath is so easy & inexpensive, and it stays alive all year round! I saw a gorg version on the cover of the new Viva Terra catalog and I knew I had to make one, cause I don't have $100 to spend on a plant.

My house is filled with succulents, one of the many bonuses of being a BFF of a fabulous succulent designer. She taught me that you can just chop off a bit of a living succulent and it will grow into a new plant! So that's what I did, clipped from living plants (I might have taken a few from a local park, if it doesn't kill the plant that's not stealing right?), and arranged into this living wreath.

Total cost was about $10 and once the cuttings were dry, the assembly of the wreath took one nap time (an hour and a half). I really hope you like this and give it a try.

No-Sew Rolled Fabric Flower Baby Headband

Look at that so-cute-I-could-cry baby headband! I came across this picture at Post Road Vintage while surfing the web. She made the headband using an adorable no-sew Rolled Fabric Flower tutorial she found at My Sparkle. I asked the tute author, Danielle, to share the how-to with us so we could all make adorable baby headbands too!

When Jaime and I were at Quilt Market in Minneapolis, we saw these gorgeous Pom-Pom Hydrangeas on display at the Clover booth and quickly grabbed the DIY sheet. The Scotch Tape Flower Trick

PEONIES ARE BACK IN SEASON!  SWEET SWEET JOY! I just unabashedly love peonies so much, don't you??  I grabbed a couple bunches for $6.99 at Trader Joes yesterday and used the scotch tape trick to make 'em look all nice.

 If you didn't catch it, get the secret on our post "Making Cheapo Flowers Look Fancy"...it'll change your flower-arranging life. Also had to follow my own advice and pick up some $4 hydrangeas.

Quinn's Farm-tastic First Birthday: The multi-use DIY hair clip!

I had every intention of making some of THESE hair clips for Quinn's Birthday party a few weeks ago but just ran out of time. When I mentioned this to my mom, she had a great idea for an easier version that used less fabric. SO clever, those moms!

Quick tip: Baby's Breath Bouquet

I'm sure you stylish ladies have seen this before but I just love the way a bouquet of Baby's Breath looks all on it's own. The next time you get some flowers with tufts of this white stuff, try it in it's own vase for a modern look. Or just pick up a bunch like we did today. It's a great deal and lasts forever! Well, not forever but a really long time.

DIY Fabric Flower Hair Clip

Everything IS bigger in Texas, especially the HAIR BOWS but that doesn't mean they can't be beautiful and stylish. If you have the itch to clip an enormous "fancy" to your baby's dome, may I suggest this pretty fabric flower hair clip? It's proof that you can't even throw away the tiniest scrap of fabric because you never know when you will need to cover a button. FYI, covering buttons is just about the most fun I've had since I went to a New Years Eve party at the Playboy Mansion. No, actually covering buttons might be more fun. So much fun.
