Manly Laptop Sleeve Part 2: All Girl

When I saw Jacinda's Manly Laptop Sleeve Tutorial in the queue I was beyond excited! Umm, maybe I should have made one for Carleton Curtis first?  Alas, I did not. This Anna Maria Horner fabric was calling out to be by my side every day!

I used a snap instead of velcro because I'm obsessed with snaps (and I didn't have any velcro) and some fun gold bias tape.  Does it look too old-fashioned?  I hope not, because I kind of love it.

I even did a little piecing and some diagonal quilting using fancy metallic sparkly gold Kreinik thread. Since I know you'll ask, the gold fabric is Anna Maria Horner Innocent Crush Quilt Cotton Loves Me Loves Me Not in Golden, and the flowers are Anthology Fabrics High Society Silo Dahlias in Gold, both from Fabricworm.

Ok, your turn: Get the Laptop Sleeve Tutorial here.

Manly Laptop Sleeve Man-gift of Man-dom.

We love to give handmade gifts, right? But they are not always appreciated by the men folk. Here is a super-easy project that even the most manly-man would dig. If it is filled with a brand new Macbook Air, it might get you an extra smooch under the mistletoe but it's also nice for an existing laptop, a ipad, a kindle or any bit of technology needing extra cushion and jelly-finger protection.

It's A...

Long-neglected mothers of boys rejoice! The selfish ladies of Prudent Baby now have personal interest in all things male because... It's a Boy! So get ready for snails and puppy dog tails and... mustaches! To announce Baby Boy Boneau, I've whipped up a few of these super easy mustache lollipops as part of Prudent Baby's Summer of Fanciful Treats: Sponsored by Bake it Pretty. If, like me, you still can't get enough of the mustache trend, you have to take a peek at the 1st birthday party Jessica from A little Gray threw for her son, Hendrix. Then check out Babble's In Celebration of Baby Boys: The Mustache. I want that wooden teether!

Click here for the crazy simple DIY for these mustache lollipops!

And remember, any comment you leave this week could win you a 1/2 yard of Nicey Jane oilcloth. Tell us a mustache story. My husband has a mustache. I like it.

How to Sew PANTS!

See we make boy stuff! I can't believe we've never posted any pants. It kind of makes me feel bad for boys, all never being able to wear dresses. Or I guess it makes me feel bad for moms of boys, HA kidding! Boys are great, you're so lucky, yadda yadda ;)

Anyhoo, I made these for Scarlet with a flat front, but that's not required, this is just your basic how-to-make-pants tutorial. You can totally do this. You can even make some for dad if you have enough fabric. Easy Peasy.

Man-Gift! - Toiletry Bag: Part 2

Yesterday during naptime, I busted out one of Jaime's Boxy Toiletry Bags for my Dad for Father's Day. He is a photographer so I knew he would love this chic Echino Ni-co Camera fabric, now available in "Dad-approved" Gold and "Jacinda-approved" Purple. I lined the bag with standard medium-weight vinyl. The vinyl was pretty annoying. I should have tried some of these great tips from Sew Mama Sew, but it was naptime so there was a deadline, you know how it goes. I'm thrilled with the results! I hope he likes it!

Look! Something you can make for a man! Father's Day anyone??

OK, so this one is for my friend Felice. Not a man. But a woman who enjoys cosmetics and bags and just had a birthday. It has a canvas outside and oil cloth inside for spill containment and easy wiping clean. But oil cloth not required.
