Procrastinester's Wishlist

While the rest of you are kicking my big pregnant butt in the nesting department, all I want to do is shop for supplies for the nesting... I might be doing... in the near future. Here are a few items that have caught my eye this weekend.

Our lovely sponsor fabricworm has started carrying knits and minky. Cuddly softness! And check out these beautiful peacock cupcake liners from Bake it Pretty.
If I could put down Stieg Larsson long enough to do anything else, I think a refresher in proper embroidery could lead to some quality Crafting in Bed. This looks good, as does this. Oh but wait, this one combines Steig, Crafting and Bed! Perfect!
And lastly, I've had Sergers on the brain again. I really want one, especially with those gorgeous knits calling my name.

Super Quick Wrap Scarf Crochet Pattern

Y'all had a lot of fun with our first Chunky Scarf Crochet Pattern so maybe you'll like this one too.  It's shorter and just wraps twice, and works up SO QUICKLY.  You could use this pattern to make a crochet toddler scarf, I actually made it for Scarlet to wrap three times, but she just doesn't like scarves so I stole it back, sorry daughter.

DIY Crochet Baby Beanie - Free Pattern

Back in my one child days, I crocheted an adorable sweater and hat from one of those free patterns from the yarn isle. Because I had no idea how to relocate the pattern, I was thinking that I would create something similar for you all but then I organized my yarn and found the pattern! And then I found that it was on the Caron website! Try out this pattern!, it introduces a few new stitches for beginner crocheters including Ribbing and Decreasing. And I highly recommend using variegated yarn for supreme cuteness and embarrassing riches of compliments. Adding the pom-pom as suggested in the pattern would also be adorable.

Porcupine Pin Cushion

I thought that I was pretty clever when I came up with this. Come to find out, people have already made porcupine pin cushions. But have they mistakenly filled them with disgusting artificially pork-flavored dried pinto beans? I think not. So here is Porc&Beans, the unofficial Prudent Baby mascot. The best part about Porc&Beans is how much my 2yr old wants to play with him even though he is stuck with 100 sharp objects. So fun.

Jaime and Jacinda's Homeschooling Fun

Don't worry, not the real kind of homeschooling.

Funny Story. Once a woman in Starbucks asked me (while I was with 1yr old Clare) if I would like a brochure on homeschooling and I said "no thank you, do you have any information on boarding school?" She was horrified. My husband always tells me that I'm not as funny as I think I am. I'd guess that homeschooling lady would agree. No, really, homeschooling is very cool, I'm no-kidding in awe of it.

Ok, so Jaime and I have been talking about making an effort to improve the quality of the time we spend with the kiddos. To plan creative activities and such. Today, Clare and I made these necklaces! It was actually something we could both enjoy. At first I tried to give her a coordinated palette of beads and tie between her beads but she wanted to do her own thing and ... wait for it... I just let her. We had so much fun just hanging out and having some crafty fun! PS. I asked her who she wanted to make a necklace for and she said "you, mommy." (tear)

Chunky Scarf Crochet Pattern

So last week I posted my Top Five Hot Mess Mommy Tips and commenter  Jaimie (who has a gorgeous name) said she liked the knit scarf in the picture.  
Well, Jaimie, that made my day, because I MADE that scarf!  It's actually crochet and it took about 30 minutes, it was so simple I thought it wasn't worth posting, but since you liked it, I thought I'd share.  It's actually one long tube that I wrap around my neck three times.

When I saw these cookies from Petite Planet, I just knew that I had to make some for Clare's kitchen. Since I'm all about projects I can do in bed, they made it to the top of the to-do list.
