FABRIC FRIDAY!

Vroom! Vroom! Baby on the move! We are loving this Cross Town from Alexander Henry.
To enter to win a yard of this adorable fabric, tell us about your first car. Mine was a white TC3 Miser which was basically a suped-up Plymouth Horizon. One of my dad's friends hit it with a snow plow in our driveway and punctured a gaping hole in the door. My dad didn't ask him to fix it because he was so nice to plow our driveway! I covered the hole with a 92 PRO FM bumper sticker. If you, like my BF Cindy, had a brand new cherry red Pontiac Grand Am, I'm going to be so jealous.

Leave your comment anytime between now and next Friday, September 16th. Tweet, stumble, or share on facebook and leave another comment letting us know. Come back every day for new entries. We'll randomly select a winner and announce right here next Friday.

Find out who won last week's Fabric Friday after the jump...

My first car was a '91 Chevy Corsica, light blue. It wasn't anything amazing, but got me from place to place until I was rear-ended and it was totaled. :( After that I ended up with an old Ford Escort station wagon, a definite downgrade.

My first car was a Mercury Tracer (which was like 6 years old). I got it from my grandma when she got a new car. Within an hour of getting the car, the alternator and starter died, so I had to save over a months pay to get it all repaired!!

My first car was a 1996 Dogde Dakota pickup truck. My dad bought it to pull our boat. My brother learned to drive shortly after I graduated from HS and totalled it... I had to go the summer in between HS and college getting rides from my grandpa to and from work. :) I have yet to get to pick out my own vehicle! And that was 15 years ago!

PS- this fabric would make something ADORABLE for my little boys-- I wonder what....

My first car was a 1990 Geo Prizm, light blue. By the time it got around to me, the fabric on the ceiling was falling down (and my dad tried to tape it up, which was a good idea until summer came and the glue in the tape started melting, dripping in sticky strings on your head), the drivers side window didn't roll up all the way, and the defrost didn't work (which wasn't a big deal in SoCal). I loved that car. In fact, I still miss it a little.

My first car was a 1976 Catalina Safari station wagon. Brown. Sat 9 comfortable, plus a roof rack that was known to accomodate friends as well! This huge hunk of metal was the safest thing my mom saw, paid $400 for it, and said, "Have fun!"

In 1995, I was 15, my dad and I went looking for my first car. Since before I can remember I wanted an old VW Bug, and that is all I was willing to get. We were driving around and found a 1967 red bug that needed al ot of work. But it was only $500. So we bought it and cherried it out. Red and beautiful! I drove that car until I was 24 and needed a more reliable car but it still sits in my garage waiting for me to get it in running order again. I love that car and will never sell her, she is my first baby and always will be.

My first car was an '89 Nissan Sentra. My dad has always worked in the car world and would often "inherit" cars from customers who decided it wasn't worth it to fix them and they'd just buy a new car. So my dad would put in the time off hours to get them fixed and then he'd bring them home. I got the blue Sentra and drove from age 16 to 20 when it finally gave up. I now drive it's younger sister, a white '05 Sentra :)

There was supposed to be a comma between "white" and "ghetto". Raoul himself was white; I don't know the details of his previous ghetto existence. :)

Oh, I miss my first car. It was a 1993 turquoise Geo Prizm. It had 165,000 miles on it when I bought it (it was a company car), and it made it to nearly 190,000 before it died. I still have the key to it. It was a sad, sad day my freshman year of college when poor Geo George passed to the big junkyard in the sky...

My first car was an '89 Ford Taurus that my dad bought for $100. It was an amazing car for $100. :) or maybe it was so amazing because it allowed me some freedom. :) I had a truck hit the back passenger door so then it had a dent in it. The damage was more than the car. When I was done with it, my younger brother drove it for a few years. Probably the best $100 my dad ever spent. :)

My first car was a 1984 Ford Escort. I got it as a "gift" from my dad in 2002. I use the word gift loosely. I thin it was more of a punishment for moving out of the house at 18. It didn't have any door handles so we had to leave the windows down if we wanted to open the door. It would stall out in the middle of the road daily. We would have to jump out and pour gas in the carburetor to get her running again. Oh and the seats we not bolted down. When we hit a bump, the seat would literally fly in the air. Thank God we now have a nice car. lol I thought about saving her for my kids, but I don't want them to hate me.

I love that fabric, it's way cute! My first car was a hand-me-down pale yellow 1980 Dodge Omni 4 doors plus hatchback, stick shift. My older sister taught me how to drive it on a sunny day in April, hehe, she kept an eye on the odometer & ran the gear shift. I was in charge of the steering wheel, clutch, crake & accelerator; when ever she hollered "clutch" I'd push it in, she'd shift, then she'd yell "gas" & I switched feet & pedals. It was a hilarious experience, but I eventually got pretty good at it & drove that car for 4 years until it died.

If I win, please, let me know at: maeserquilter[at]gmail[dot]com; and thanks.

A sweet, dirt brown, Toyota Tercel. Stick shift. My dad made me learn to drive stick at 15! Terrifying. Called it the Brown Bomber. We traded it in for a much cooler Mazda MX-6 before I even turned 16. And then I promptly rear-ended someone two months later. Lesson learned.

My first car was a Chevrolet Celebrity, circa somewhere between 1983 and 1986. It was the color of dried blood, and it was huge! The radio would go in and out when I went over a bump so I had to bang on the dashboard to make it play. This lovely gem was stolen 3 times, and each time something new got broken. By the time I got rid of it the driver's side door wouldn't open from the inside, the windshield wiper knob was hanging by a wire, and the passenger side window had fallen inside the door. I used to say it wasn't pretty, but it sure did have character!

I have no clue what the year was but it was an old Jeep grand cherokee. It was good for the most part except the gas gauge was broken so I ran out of gas on the side of the road a lot. lol Oh and when I went above 40mph the whole thing would start shaking a bit, the brakes weren't very sensitive either which was scary at times. I had an '85 Dodge Omni, two tone light gray on top and dark gray on bottom. It was a little tank! The last winter I drove it, the windshield wipers didn't work, so whoever rode shotgun had to roll down the window and sit on the door to throw a towel across the windshield as I drove! Real safe, huh!

My first car was an '81 Ford Laser, affectionately known as the Silver Bullet. By the time I sold it, the plastic around the inside door handles had broken off, and you had to pull the handle in an odd direction to get the door open, and the driver's side door had somehow warped so I had to climb in from the passenger's side. I still loved that car though!

My first car (at 16) was a 1990 Ford Taurus with a bright maroon interior. I only got to have a car was because my grandma was getting too old to drive and she needed the money, so my parents bought it from her. I had to pay half. The AC went out twice and the transmission was on its way too. The car was 10+ years old but had 50- something thousand miles on it. Definitely a Grandma Car! I was surprised, then, that 2 years later, it was stolen from our driveway. Because of the low miles, I got more from insurance than it had cost. Sweet!

My first car was a hand-me-down from my mother Chevy Malibu station wagon. I'm not sure what year it was. 1980 or older? It had the wood paneling on the sides, bench seats, and basically no shocks. You could hop on the bumper and get the car rocking and shaking with barely any effort. The windsheild wipers broke, and after my dad "fixed" them, I had to unplug the fuse on the electrical panel anytime I wanted to turn the wipers off.

My first car was a gift from my older brother actually, it was his old car. A Chevy Cavalier from the 80's, spray painted black by my brother...we called it the black stallion. It was actually not bad. My brother had taken good care of it and installed a cd changer that held 6 cds, and he had put big bass speakers in the back, so I thought I was pretty cool. It eventually died by the time my younger brother had used it to death.

I remember my dad calling my dad calling our house saying..."Tell Sarena to come outside I have something for her", I was about to be 16 and I just knew it was a car, so wait until a hear honking outside, sprint out the front door and just stand there in disbelief. It was a 1980 Trans-Am that was about 4 different colors. So i thought, maybe a paint job will help...I get in and there is fuzzy purpleness everywhere! Dashboard, floor, roof...everywhere. He says lets go for a ride...so I get in and start to drive...i hit the breaks and all the lights in the car come on...he says...oh it adds character...oh my goodness! I will never forget my first car!

My first car (In the spring of 1996, when I was 16.) was a 1977 Delta 88 - no reason to be jealous of me! My dad is a mechanic and he had to rebuild the engine before he gave it to me after buying it used. It was so fast he threatened to put a block under the gas pedal so I couldn't go over 65 mph. lol! I remember that a friend and I spent hours using gold thumbtacks to tack up the sagging ceiling fabric on the inside. Oh the memories!

My first car was a peach colored 1981 Chevy S-10 Pickup Truck with a topper and plywood and carpet lining the truck bed. It couldn't get above 45mph and stalled at almost every stoplight. I guess that's what happens when you get a car that's as old as you are! I love this fabric, I pinned it to my pinterest board a few days ago and am trying to decide what I'll use it for. I haven't made anything for my baby boy yet so I think I will use this fabric on him, it's so fun!

It was a 1991 Infiniti Q45. Sounds nice, but it really wasn't. It leaked in the rain, had 2 windows constantly falling off the track, blown speakers, blown shocks, broken speedometer, the power steering literally blew up, and the tire (after it was fixed) had to be blown up every 6 hours. I carried a air compressor in my trunk. Oh, and the clear coat was peeling. I was so glad to get my next car! I got a massive deal on an '86 Jaguar :) Good thing for Salvation Army! I got to indefinitely borrow my parents' 1992 Ford Taurus when I was 16. Three days after getting my license, a lady ran a stop sign and hit me on my way to school. Of course it was the first day of finals and I drove 20 MPH the rest of the way to school while shaking uncontrollably.

The old lady finally gave out one night when white smoke started trailing me because it blew a gasket. Poor old thing needed $3,000 worth of repairs so we donated it.

My second car wasn't much better: a white 200 astro van (AKA rape-mobile-looking car)

Now I rock my grandma's 1994 red jetta that i bought with money I had saved since I was 12 years old for a car!

My first car was an 89 Toyota Celica. It looked pretty decent, but the radio was possessed and would always switch itself off whatever station we put it on and revert back to a classical station. Blaring classical music on the way to high school...not cool. I smashed it twice and it finally got totaled when someone turned into me. After that I had to drive the mini-van to school, which actually wasn't all that bad. The radio worked and my parents took out the extra seats so we couldn't pack it full of teenagers, but it made for a nice large space to nap in when we didn't want to go to class, and the windows were tinted so the security guards couldn't see us hiding out in there. Those were the good days!

I'm going to show my age now because my first car was a 1976 Pontiac Sunbird in a gorgeous color of almost lime green- ok maybe it was closer to a leafy green. Had I been given the chance I surely would NOT have bought that color but you can't be picky when that's what they have in stock. Heck, I was just thrilled to be getting a car that was only 1 yr old with low mileage. It was a great car until I totalled it about 5 yrs later right in front of my house when another car came flying down the road and smashed into me hard enough to knock my car back into my yard.

A couple weeks before the senior caravan (seniors car parade fype thing @ my hs) a truck in front of me at a red light backed up into me. Then an old couple back up into my car at a parking lot. Needless to say it ended up going caput on me. My first car was a 1982 Plymouth LeBaron that my dad paid $200 because it wasn't running at the time. I was only a few years older than that car. After rebuilding the engine, replacing the soft top, dash, and numerous other parts that I don't know that names of, my dad admitted that he could have bought me a much newer car for what he ended up spending on that bargain car. I really didn't mind because I loved having my own car.

My first car was a Honda Civic that my parents helped me buy. It was pretty nice until the bumper got torn off in a parking lot and I put it back on with zip ties and duct tape. It stayed that way until I sold it like 6 years later. Classy.

Omg- you would ask about my first car! Well, to be on the super safe side, my father gave me his old 1982 Lincoln Town Car, white. My friends nicknamed it "The Tank". Let's just say it was certainly like a tank, made it over many a terrain and through alot of teen trouble! It even saved my life a couple times before it finally keeled out! Ahh... i can still smell those leather seats!

Mine was my dad's old black Ford Thunderbird, shared with my older sister until my parents gave up on trying to force her to share with me and I got my mom's old Taurus. :)

My first car was a 93 Caddilac, called the "crappy caddy" it was tore up, and almost as old as me. It had no radio, no a/c, no heater and the leather seats were all cracked up. That's just the inside, the side panels on the doors fell off, and one of the blinker/brake lights was completely turned into the trunk from me backing into a tree, and I got 12 mpg. It got me to and from school, and I could fit 7 to 8 people in there for carpool. Surprisingly, even with a car in such bad shape, everyone wanted it and I always got offers from people to buy it. I loved that car, and if it hadn't broke down, I'd probably still be driving it today.

My first car was a blue Toyota Celica (can't remember the year, but it was definitely not new!). I totaled it after only 3 weeks. Woops!

My First car was a dark blue 10yr old Honda Civic. Nothing had power and the A/C didn't work. And in FL, it hits 110F in the summer easily. I upgraded to a GTI Volkswagon once I had a real job and the car went to my younger sister. Funny enough tho, she gave it back to me when the entire exhaust system fell out from under the car while she was driving down the road :) Now my husband uses it to commute to work. Can't beat 35mi/gal.

My 1st car was an '89 Chevy Corsica, it was a great car until one day when I got back to school from lunch and I pulled the turned the key to shut it off and it stayed running. From then on out I had to start the car and shut it off with a screw driver underneath the steering column. Eventually my blinker switch wouldn't work either and I had to manually 'blink' them. I was in high school though and it was fun having a 'beater' car that we could laugh at.

My first car was a silver 1997 Honda Accord... stick shift! A decade later, it is still going strong. I will probably cry whenever we get rid of it (hopefully not anytime soon)!

Mine was a 1969 Volkswagen Beetle which cost $1000. Mum drove me to buy it, it died after 6 weeks on the road and then she spent the next 5 years telling me I should have bought a better car! I do remember though, the first time I beat a semi-trailer off at the lights - it was a proud moment. Oh, and the most people you could get in it was 14.

My first car: a wine colored 1996 Ford Mustang hatchback with a spoiler. Beautiful. I promptly got in a wreck (not my fault) and had to get a Saturn after that. :(

My first car was a 89 Dogde Shadow (I had never even heard of that. I shared it with my twin sister. Also, I must mention this was my senior year in highschool in 2002. We had to have the oldest ugliest car in the school parking lot, but just glad to have a car. It was white and covered in mold. I thought with a good wash it'd come off, even used the heck out of some bleach...yeah no, still was covered in mold...LOL! Also, we had to put power steering fluid in it every morning before school, and if we went out at night it had to have more put in. Also, a quart of oil every day, or every other day. It also was like a frozen ice cube during the winter. Covered in ice and defrost took about an hour to melt the frost...we did a lot of scrapping needless to say. We made the car our own as best we could with red steering wheel cover and red flowered seat covers. Boy it was a horrible looking car, but we sure did a apperciate our parents paying the whooping 1000$ for it :) I think it lasted us about 4 months...LOL!
