koalas have real potential to be big. all that fir, that gray, and i can only imagine how cute they would look in other colors.
I think they next hot animal may start to be like a Raven or a fox. I really like the owls lately.
Hmmm foxes have definitely been popping up a lot lately. Maybe porcupines! They're adorable!
I've seen rabbits and foxes everywhere - but I'd love to see Deer! With Disney's Fox & the Hound and Bambi (2) coming back up woodland creatures are on the rise!
Foxes are 2010! I think polar bears need their turn. Those big paws and creamy fur. Cuteness!
I am going to have to go with foxes! I know they have been mentioned in other comments here, but they are the hot animal! The perfect balance of cute and sneaky, just like my children!

Hedgehogs are super adorable and I've been seeing them more places lately. Super cute with a bit of prickly edginess.
Maybe it will be over with summer, but I have been seeing alot of sharks. And our little guy really likes them, especially if someone does the "jaws" music!

I personally love raccoons and owls, so of course I'd hope for those. But I think the new hot animal is going to be the squirrel (and yes, that's just a wild guess).

i think it will be elephants! they can be cutsy and stylish! and if i win i will miss the announcement because i will be induced FRIDAY!! baby number 4:)

I'm with the fox crowd - they have been hip for a while but I think this is the year the it beats out the owl for top honors!
I love owls and racoons, but I think the next hot animal will come from the sea.. seahorses or anemones...

I love the idea of foxes, but I'm a fan of all woodland creatures and french bulldogs! Their little faces and the black/white. So cute. :)
HUmmm I think the woodland creature thing is still very hot but I sure wish tigers would have a comeback as my #3 grson is nicknamed Tiger and they are very hard to find! LOL

I love this fabric! My daughter and I were just sitting here pointing to all the different animals naming them. It would go great in her new big girl room!
I love owls but I think they might have reached their peak, but I really think foxes as well as sparrows have a real chance at being the next big thing.
My initial thought was the fox, but it could be the octopus. They've seemed to up their hipster status lately.
I think Narwhals are the next "hip" animal...whenever I go to a craft fair or the like, I am starting to see stuffed Narwhals and shirts, etc. I loved owls before they were cool!

Sugar Gliders are beyond cute, large eyes, bushy tails, soft fur, they look like living amagurumi...but since they're not so well known, I think the squirrel or mouse would be likely.

Oh gosh. I don't know. My son is obsessed with elephants right now, particularly the cartoon movie of Horton Hears a Who. I love this fabric though. Too cute, and the colors are great!

I think gnomes are going to be the next hot thing. But they are not animals... Although David the Gnome rode around on a fox, so maybe foxes and gnomes? I make my boys stuffed "gnomeys" and they love them.
I'm with those who say Hedgehogs. They are precious, esp when they roll up their bodies! So cute!!
I love the squirrels. They are so cute and ironic. Those expressive tails and sweet faces yet they will bite the tar out of you or trash your house.
I would also be pretty excited about deer because they were in when I was a baby and I could make my baby girl some deer things too.

I'm going with Octopus! I made my son a shirt with one on it the other day and he LOVES it! I've been collecting owls for years and im so glad there popular now, it what my little girls room is decorated in and foxes have been surfacing alot i bought our newest addition fox decor off etsy last year LOVE it. but im going with the octopus!
With Pixar's Brave coming out next summer, I think (hope!) Scottish animals are going to be big-I've seen the main character's black pony and bear nemesis in the trailer but I'm hoping there are some highland cattle too cause they're awesome. Anyway I'd love to see more Celtic inspired animal designs around.

Personally, I really like the owl but if I had to pick one Id say that cute little coon from the fabric is adorable! Who knew you could turn a trash eating vermin into something so cute and cuddly!

I definitely think with the Movie Rio coming out recently that the new animal will be the MACAW. Jungle themes are already huge, so why not add in a cute blue Macaw into the mix?

hedgehogs. they are small and weird, which will make for a super trend.
That fabric is just adorable! I am not sure who the next trendy animal will be, but I would vote for the aardvark, simply because my son, about 10 years old at the time, designed a sheep for the family applique potholder business, and someone congratulated him on the wonderful aardvark. We are still laughing -- and he is SO artistic!

According to my son it is sharks- but I'm probably going to have to go with foxes, although elephants are what I am enjoying right now.

I don't know what it will be, but I think it should be a big cat--either a lion, tiger, leopard, cheetah...They're disappearing and we need to help them.
