Quinn's Animal Birthday Party

This weekend we celebrated Miss Quinn Frances' 2nd Birthday - Animal Style! I couldn't commit to "circus" or "jungle" so it just ended up as a mash-up of the elements I liked most from each. There was also a little hand-made, a little store-bought and a few things I just had lying around the house. Quinn was only concerned that there be monkeys and elephants. Check!

Over the next week or so I'll be posting a few DIY's and the sources for all the party goodies. If you have any thoughts or questions, leave a comment! It could win you an oliver + s pattern from fabricworm!

I love the chocolate animals with eyes! Actually, I love everything! Did you make the cake yourself? I am not a huge fan of making cakes, but I love that idea of stringing a banner across the cake! Super adorable.

That white giraffe with the pink hat stole my heart. Lol Every year during Easter break, my whole family gets together at my mother's house and we have an "everybody's birthday" party. Since we are all spread throughout the US, it's hard to get everybody together for birthdays. So we came up with this solution. The funny part is when we sing happy birthday and get to the,"happy birthday dear...," we name everybody in the house. Total fun craziness.
Anyway, we have a different theme every year and dress/decorate accordingly so we like to plan in advance and start picking things up here and there. One of my fav sites for affordable party stuff is www.orientaltrading.com

We can't wait for baby's first b-day (he is 5 months), so we have decided to do a half birthday-that way we can also enjoy the sunshine of the summertime!

Becky - (comment 8) I hope you're having a cookie party for your girl! All types of cookies, cookie shaped cake, colorful cookie recipes/cook books as decoration, maybe Cookie Monster can make an appearance..

Jacinda, you really did a great job with the party! That banner on the cake is the ONLY banner I think I've ever liked. Don't know where the aversion came from, but the little name banner on the cake is super cute. I'm waiting on the cake tutorial lol.

I have been out of the little kid parties for at least the past 3 or 4 years because my girls are 8 and 10. Last April we had our 3rd little girl so I am back on the kiddie party band wagon.

My mom got me one of those balloon animal kits a long time ago, they are super addicting. But at our IHOP there is a guy who comes on kids night and does balloon animals, my daughter asked for a Unicorn. My husband and I totally cracked up, but the guy tried, his first attempt, well, he tried to leave room for the horn, and it ended up looking... a little risque, but the second time he nailed it. Someday, after many years of balloon making I might be able to do it, or I'll just forget it and sew something...

That polka dot orange balloon is definitely an eye catcher for me! The cake with the name banner, the digging in the "dirt", and the birthday party favors are all very unique and gave the party a personalized touch to it. This is inspiring me to plan a safari themed party for my kids in the fall. Thanks!
