Quinn's Animal Birthday Party
This weekend we celebrated Miss Quinn Frances' 2nd Birthday - Animal Style! I couldn't commit to "circus" or "jungle" so it just ended up as a mash-up of the elements I liked most from each. There was also a little hand-made, a little store-bought and a few things I just had lying around the house. Quinn was only concerned that there be monkeys and elephants. Check!
Over the next week or so I'll be posting a few DIY's and the sources for all the party goodies. If you have any thoughts or questions, leave a comment! It could win you an oliver + s pattern from fabricworm!

How adorable. Now I feel really guilty about not having a party when my son turned 2. Look forward to seeing the details.
how fun! love all the details. bet the girls really enjoyed making bracelets and necklaces.
I love the chocolate animals with eyes! Actually, I love everything! Did you make the cake yourself? I am not a huge fan of making cakes, but I love that idea of stringing a banner across the cake! Super adorable.
The party hat on the giraffe is stinkin' adorable!
The tall white glass giraffe rocks! Where did you get that?
The cake! The orange elephants, and what are those, candy peanuts? And the banner... I am about to faint over the cuteness.
LOVE that mask! cute idea... maybe I'll borrow that for my own kids birthday - a welcome present! love inspiring the kiddo's imagination! i also might be borrowing you jewelry making station idea - super cute!
It looks like it was an adorable party! I asked my daughter what she wanted to do for her party (she'll be 2 this summer) and she enthusiastically told me COOKIES.
Simply wonderful!! I LOVE, love love that big polka dot orange ballon. Where ever did you find it? What a really fun idea to put the balloon animals on a dowel. How fun is that!!
Ps- the cake is fantastic as well. Great job. All I can say is WOW!!
Ooooh! Please post the DIYs quick! My little girl is turning 1 in less than a month and I am going to shamelessly steal every idea you have!
I love the orange polka dot balloon! Hoping you post where you got it :)
Your giraffe looks just ravishing in that party hat.
I love it!
I am also curious about the source of the polka dot balloon and the spotted straws.
My youngest is going to be two next week and we are doing trains, but I'm curious about those balloon animals!
I love it all... Except I hate to admit it, but the chocolate animal eyes made me a tad nervous!! Crazy-person eyes!
This is so clever. I love that cake!
that polka dot balloon is awesome <3
Okay, an elephant cake lined with peanut shaped shaped candies...genius!
I love the cake. I can't wait to start planning my daughters first birthday. I'm thinking Dr. Seuss because her favorite book is by him. Thanks ladies!
I love the bright orange color, thats my new favorite for kids stuff right now!
I love it all. The balloons rock. The cake is Amazing. Simple and fun at the same time. The perfect combo without being over the top. And like everyone keeps saying - "The giraffe ROCKS"
Happy birthday Quinn! Love the elephant tablecloth and the fun colors. When I read "animal style", I immediately thought of In-n-Out. Too bad I live too far away to have one right now.
Jacinda, I really love the elephant birthday cake and the tip top elephant fabric tablecloth. My daughter's fave animal is an elephant so you gave me excellent ideas for her next birthday. Thank you for being so inspiring. - Bethany
That white giraffe with the pink hat stole my heart. Lol Every year during Easter break, my whole family gets together at my mother's house and we have an "everybody's birthday" party. Since we are all spread throughout the US, it's hard to get everybody together for birthdays. So we came up with this solution. The funny part is when we sing happy birthday and get to the,"happy birthday dear...," we name everybody in the house. Total fun craziness.
Anyway, we have a different theme every year and dress/decorate accordingly so we like to plan in advance and start picking things up here and there. One of my fav sites for affordable party stuff is www.orientaltrading.com
i want balloon animals on a stick at my next birthday party.
The only thing cuter would have been a balloon animal conga line led by the kids!!
We can't wait for baby's first b-day (he is 5 months), so we have decided to do a half birthday-that way we can also enjoy the sunshine of the summertime!
I'd recognize a Jonathan Adler piece anywhere-Love HIS GIRAFFE!!
How fun! Love all of the party decor - especially that giraffe with the pink hat!!! Too cute! I especially love the activities you had for the kids! Great ideas!!!
Becky - (comment 8) I hope you're having a cookie party for your girl! All types of cookies, cookie shaped cake, colorful cookie recipes/cook books as decoration, maybe Cookie Monster can make an appearance..
Jacinda, you really did a great job with the party! That banner on the cake is the ONLY banner I think I've ever liked. Don't know where the aversion came from, but the little name banner on the cake is super cute. I'm waiting on the cake tutorial lol.
So cute Jacinda! I looooooove the cake. And Miss Quinn is gorgeous :)
so cute! Can't wait for more tutorials! Have you found a good tutorial for making a bassinet cover? I just have the bassinet and need to make a cover before august. I guess I might just try making my own with measurements. thanks so much for all the great inspiration!
Love it all! Quinn is adorably sweet munching on candy and holding her big balloon. Wish I was there.
Love, Grammie
I was just thinking last night that for my daughter's 2nd birthday in June, I should throw an animal themed party. More specifically ducks and dogs as that is what she's obsessed with! Thanks for the ideas!
Love the cake and the circus peanuts - adorable!
Beautiful! I'm so excited to see your DIY's! My daughter's birthday is coming up, but we have to fly back "home" to NC from AZ and can't do all the fun things I was planning.. but at least I made some things to take with! But it's always fun to see ya'lls gorgeous birthday parties! :) Quinn is gorgeous and looks like she had a great time!
Nice! My daughter's 2nd birthday is very soon too and I still have not decided on what to do. Would love to see the details! Thanks!
Such cute ideas.. HOW do you come up with this stuff? Love it all!
oh my god you throw the most amazing parties. such great ideas. how did you do the balloon animals l think they are incredible. please post DIY's to everything I want to learn. This blog has made me so passionate about being a crafty mummy for poppy.
How adorable are the party pictures!?!?! I love everything, but my absolute favorite are the chocolates and the funky straw that matches the balloons. How you manage to have such great parties are beyond me!
how fun! I had the same problem of not wanting to do 'circus' or 'Safari' and i love the make your own necklace idea.
You are truly my inspiration! You do so much with two little girls and a baby. I don't know how I'm going to do it all with Joleen and Johnny, but you inspire me!
I must go buy that giraffe!!! I LOVE HIM!!!
Sooooooo sweet, lucky girl!
I don't think I would have thought to use the Circus Peanut candy for the cake, and to use it as a boarder is super cute!!
I also loved the chocolate animals and their super large eyes.
Really good job.
Everything looks so cute! Love the jewelry making idea, love the banner across the cake, and love the retro pattern on the box with favors - is it fabric?
Happy Birthday Quinn!
This party is absolutly adorable what a colorful way to celebrate, I really love how you used the circus peanuts on the cake. Did you make all those balloon animals yourself? Now thats talent. I always end up with popped balloons when I try!
Everything about this is just so cute! I love the cake and balloons- you guys always have the best party ideas!
Ok I absolutely love the cake! The peanuts are so cute. I am thinking about how to incorporate this cake into my big girls next bday! Love it!
I have been out of the little kid parties for at least the past 3 or 4 years because my girls are 8 and 10. Last April we had our 3rd little girl so I am back on the kiddie party band wagon.
The cake is adorable! Honestly, it all is! Great party.

that cake is so stinkin cute!
You guys rock! Our daughters 2nd birthday is coming up...now i cant think of a better way to be-dazzle and DIY/buy it any better than you ladies have with this awesome animal theme. Would you be flattered if I copied or disgusted? :P
My mom got me one of those balloon animal kits a long time ago, they are super addicting. But at our IHOP there is a guy who comes on kids night and does balloon animals, my daughter asked for a Unicorn. My husband and I totally cracked up, but the guy tried, his first attempt, well, he tried to leave room for the horn, and it ended up looking... a little risque, but the second time he nailed it. Someday, after many years of balloon making I might be able to do it, or I'll just forget it and sew something...
Oh my! I love it! I have been aiming to decorate my sons room but can't decide between jungle/circus/forest! So I can relate to the jungle/circus dilemma.
That polka dot orange balloon is definitely an eye catcher for me! The cake with the name banner, the digging in the "dirt", and the birthday party favors are all very unique and gave the party a personalized touch to it. This is inspiring me to plan a safari themed party for my kids in the fall. Thanks!
Fantastic party.party can be more exciting if there are some activities related to kids games.
