FABRIC FRIDAY
Mary had a polka-dotted little lamb... So maybe it wasn't polka-dotted but if it looked as cute as these little lambs I'm sure she would have taken it. I am especially loving the colors in Laurie Wisbrun's Modern Whimsy, Organic Cotton, Sheep Park. There is just something very pleasant and happy about this fabric. I think it has to do with all the cute little sheep grazing about.
To enter for a chance to win one yard of Laurie Wisbrun's Modern Whimsy, Organic Cotton, Sheep Park tell us your favorite nursery rhyme. Mine is one that I heard as an adult called, Who Killed Cock Robin. It's super dark (as I'm sure you can tell from the title) but I just love the tune. Leave your comment anytime between now and Friday, December 23rd. Tweet, Stumble, or share on Facebook and leave another comment letting us know. Come back every day for new entries. We'll randomly select a winner and announce right here next Friday.
Find out who won last week's Fabric Friday after the jump...
We were loving all the jokes that came in. The winner of one yard of Natalie Lymer Woodland, Toadstool Spots Turquoise is...

You might need to say it out loud for it to be funny. :)

My favorite is rockabye baby... it's the first thing I remember hearing!
My favourite is Itsy Bitsy Spider. I still sing it with my twin granddaughters. Thank you for the opportunity. Happy Holidays!
My favorite is twinkle twinkle b/c I love hearing my two year old sing it and act it out.
I'm a sucker for some Hey Diddle Diddle. How can you not love a cat with a fiddle or a cow that jumps over the moon?
Thanks!
Little Boe Peep is one I still sing all the time. :)
Hickory Dickory Dock:o) Love the little lambs!
Does it count if I confess that I don't like them? They're all sad. Humpty Dumpty and Jack and Jill fell, Old Mother Hubbard's dog went hungry.... Having said that, I often recite Jack Sprat, Peter Pumpkin Eater and the Woman who lived in a shoe... But they aren't happy either. I like happy.

I love singing the itsy, bitsy spider in spanish since I've learned it.
My favorite is my mom's version of
rock-a-bye-baby. She changed it to:
When the bough breaks
The cradle will fall,
And mama will catch you
Cradle and all.
:)
Twinkle, twinkle little star, as sung by my nephew.
Twinkle Twinkle is my favorite nursery rhyme because my daughter since the line "up above the world so high" as "upabubba world so high" It's so stinkin cute :)
My favorite would be Itsy Bitsy Spider although I don't like spiders. LOL
My 5 mo old loves itsy bitsy spider. And I love the big smile on his face when I sing it! -Sharon M

I like "Baa Baa Black Sheep." Maybe because my daughter likes it and sings it...
Tough choice but I think I'll say Hickory Dickory Dock
I like Hey Diddle Diddle, the cat and the Fiddle
My favorite nursery rhyme is Old King Cole
My favorite is Ring around the rosie (also very dark as it is about the plague) but that's how I roll.
my favorite is ... Kookaburra sits in an old gum tree, merry merry king of the bush is he, laugh kookaburra, laugh kookaburra, gay your life must be!
As a Mary, rhymes like Mary had a Little Lamb and How Does Your Garden Grow were always special.
I love Humpty Dumpty :o)
the owl and the pussy cat is it for me. I thinks its the pea green boat
Hey Diddle Diddle is my fav!
hee hee... my mom shocked us all with this one:
Annie Boleyn had no panties to wear
so she bought her a sheep skin and made her a pair
with the shiney side out and the wooly side in
these were the panties of Annie Boleyn
Well they itched and they scratched and they made Annie swear
said Annie Boleyn I won't wear them no more
with the shiney side out and wooley side in
I'd rather go bare-assed said Annie Boleyn
"The north wind doth blow, and we shall have snow, and what will poor Robin do then? (Poor thing) She'll sit in the barn to keep herself warm, and hide her head under her wing, poor thing." Why are they all so sad?
I loved this as a child because of the language: the north wind doth blow. Now, as an adult, I appreciate that it was written by someone who knew about birds. They do take shelter in barns, and they do put their little heads under their wings for warmth. Just like the people who illustrated cartoons, nursery rhyme writers knew about country life.
itsy bitsy spider (with actions)
Hmmm... jack and jill? I can't think of a good one!
Little Miss Muffet is my favorite.
Hey diddle diddle
The cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon
The little dog laughed to see such sport
and the dish ran away with the spoon.
Mine is "hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon - the little dog laughed to see such sport, and the dish ran away with the spoon." How do nonsense rhymes like that become so popular? :) Love this fabric!
Mine is actually "Mary Had a Little Lamb." That white fleece gets me every time; I'm a fiber artist so I'm just dying to get my hands on that little lamb and shear it so I can dye, card and spin up its wool into yarn. Is that weird?
Needless to say, I'm totally drooling over the sheep fabric this week!!

My mom and us kids used to always sing "Do your ears hang low" at the dinner table. Good memories!
My favourite rhyme is: Twinkle, twinkle little star.

The itsy bitsy spider is my favorite because of the hand movements that go along with it.
I'll have to say Jack and Jill.
Little boy blue come blow your horn. I always sang it to my first born, Atticus, because his eyes are so blue. I do remember my dad saying the "Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, fuzzy wuzzy had no hair, Fuzzy wuzzy wasn't fuzzy, was he?" and it used to crack me up when I was little.
Anything by Mother Goose, I played her in our first grade pageant. Then when I got older, Jabberwocky by Lewis Carol.
Twinkle twinkle little star. I can't wait to start singing it to our little one in March!
Wee Willie Winkie runs through the town,
upstairs and downstairs in his nightgown,
rapping on the windows, crying through the lock,
Are all the children in their beds? for now it's eight o'clock!
I think it's too funny and kind of scary, too!
My favorite is the little red hen
Anyone that loves nursery rhymes and childrens' poems should check out "A Child's Book of Poems", which has illustrations by the wonderful Gyo Fujikawa (she also did "Oh, What a Busy Day!"). It would also make a nice keepsake present for someone.
One of my favorites:
A centipede was happy quite
Until a frog in fun
Said, "Pray, which leg comes after which?"
This raised her mind to such a pitch,
She lay distracted in a ditch,
Considering how to run.
My favorite was Peter Peter Pumpkin eater, had a wife and couldn't keep , so put her in a pumkin shell and there he kept her very well. Wierd now... After I just typed it out, I realized I kinda hate it now... Anyway, I have a cousin named Peter and we used to torment him by singing it to him all the time! Ahhhh, the fond memories! :) Love the fabric!
I love twinkle twinkle little star and despite being 16, I do have a version of it on my iPod.
I have shared the giveaway on facebook.
I hope this still counts as an entry... I feel like I always thought nursery rhymes were a little creepy. I had the big Mother Goose book, and I remember it was one of my favorites, but I also remember being creeped out by Mother Hubbard's cupboard and Humpty Dumpty. I didn't know what curds and whey were, and spiders kind of scared me. And don't even get me started on Georgie Porgie kissing girls and making them cry. What a meanie and borderline sociopath!
Baby T's favorite nursery rhyme is the Itsy Bitsy Spider, though. Go figure.
How does your Garden Grow
MarI had a little lamb...because people call me Mari
I love the humpy dumpty..

I love Itsy bitsy spider!
My favorite is Little Boy Blue. And sheep are my favorite animal!
Jack Sprat could eat no fat, his wife could eat no lean; and so b'twix them both, they licked the platter clean!
I've always thought that Little Jack Horner was a fun one!
I seemed to learn altered versions of popular fairy tales. One of my favorites is Little Boy Blue, come blow your horn ... only ending with Where is the boy who looks after the sheep? He's under the haystack with Little Bo Peep!
I have stumbled upon the giveaway.
not sure if this counts as a nursery rhyme, but I've always liked The House that Jack Built
I always liked the itsy bitsy spider
My fave is little boy blue - probably because my one yr old daughter looks so cute wandering around looking for little boy blue whenever her brother and I say it.

The old lady who lived in a shoe!
not that it's a lullabye, but my mom used to sing me the song from the book "I'll love you forever" we wore that book out!
My favorite is more of a modern nursery rhyme. It's called Snuggle Puppy :o) It's so sweet and has a simple little tune to it.
Twinkle twinkle is my sons favorite followed by itzy bitzy spider, I think twinkle twinkle is classic
My favorite is the same one my dad dedicated to me.
There was a little girl who had a little curl right in the middles of her forehead, and when she was good she was very very good, but when she was bad she was horrid.
My favorite is Twinkle, Twinkle, I think. :)
hey diddle is my favorite
"no more monkeys jumping on the bed, that is what the doctor said".....we love the reggae version of thAt song from a story I used to love when I was little.
My favorite is Mary Had a Little Lamb!

Coffee and Tea. I loved that one of my daughters (a twin) loved to recite it and pretend that she was the sister that loved coffee.
