GIVEAWAY: Custom Toy Portrait and Matching Stationary Set from First Friends Portraits
A custom toy portrait sounds genius, right? That's what we thought when we first heard of First Friends Custom Toy Portraits by Erin. As you can see Clare was absolutely thrilled when her portrait of "Mermaid" arrived. Here are a few words from Erin on how this ingenious idea came to be...
First Friends celebrates children’s love for their favorite toys. As a Yale-trained artist and mother of 3-year-old twins, I was inspired to create First Friends after painting portraits of my twins’ lovies. When they saw their toy portraits for the first time, they jumped around and screamed with joy….and thus the idea for First Friends was born.
In addition to custom toy portraits, First Friends now offers personalized stationary items featuring your toy portrait, custom portraits of children and pets, as well as gift certificates (Last minute gift crisis? Gift Certificates are a super fast and easy way to give a toy portrait as a gift - I can email you a gift certificate to print at home immediately after receiving your order).
Now that you know exactly who you would want to give a First Friends Custom Toy Portrait to, keep reading to find out how to enter for the chance to win a custom toy portrait and complete matching stationary set after the jump.
To enter for the chance to win a framed 6x9 custom toy portrait and a complete matching stationary set featuring the toy portrait (the set includes 10 notecards, 30 gift labels, 90 address labels and 100 calling cards) tell us what favorite toy you had as a child. Mine would have to be a stuffed manatee, named Manny (of course), that I still have to this day! For extra entries follow Erin on twitter and/or "like" the First Friends Facebook Page and leave another comment for each. For additional entries, tweet, stumble, or share the giveaway on facebook and leave a comment each time letting us now. Come back and leave a comment every day from now until November 21st at midnight. We will announce the winner here on Prudent Baby.

I never played with dolls or stuffed animals as a child, but my favorite toy was a set of 4 boxes that I would build things out of, or sit in (the biggest) and pretend I could fly! Damn, I miss those boxes...
My favourite stuffed toy was definitely my teddy bear. I still sleep with it in the bed almost every night.
My favorite toy was a stuffed duck named Gaga. My son has a duck lovey (also named Gaga) and I want to have their portraits painted together so badly!

One of my favorite childhood toys was Milky the Moo Cow. You could put milk tablets in her udder, make her drink water, and when she was ready to be milked, she would Moooo. :o) I actually found another one at a rummage sale this past summer! Love it! :o)

I had a stuffed monkey named chimpy (turns out it was an orangutan, how was I supposed to know that?!) and my sister and I could play with pet shops for HOURS (the old kind that actually looked like animals, not the new goofy kind), but I think my favorite was probably the sets of horses I "collected" from birthdays & Christmas. They were so cool. Each set was a different breed with a mare and a pony. They are the one toy I wish I still had for my kids to play with.

Wonderful--love her work!! My favorite (who I still have) was a doll named Sweetie Pie. Loved her even after one of arms fell off. :)
my favorite was my "mary" doll. (I named her Mary) my mom sewed her for me and she had hair the same color as mine and my mom embroidered her face so she had the same eye color as me aswell and she also made her a whole wardrobe of fancy dresses, shoes, a hat, jammies and even her own toy bear!
I had a little mouse toy. I'm not sure if it was a mouse or bunny. Maybe a combination. It was thin and soft. It's name was Floppy It had a tiny rattle in it and boy did I love that thing to peices (literally). My parents got another one because I thought they threw away my first one and I was so angry. I found it in the hope chest a few years later and realized they just wanted to save it before it fell apart completely!

My favorite toys were my cabbage patch kids.
My favorite toys as a kid were my water babies. I would take them everywhere with me and treat them like real babies. Until one day we went to change the water in them and it was moldy after that they didn't seem too great.

I had a grey bear named Fluffy. Who wasn't even that fluffy, but I think I wanted his name to be similar to the Snuggle (All detergent) bear.

When I was a toddler an elderly lady from our church made me a pink and cream teddy bear. It is not soft and cuddly unfortunately, so it has always been on a shelf, dresser, or in a closet for safe keeping. I may not have carried it all over when I was young but it is still a memory from my childhood. Most importantly it still reminds me of Mrs. Pearl and how friendly she was.
My favorite toy as a child was my stuffed monkey named Jeremy. He was so soft and he fit perfectly in my arms for me to snuggle up with every night when I went to sleep.
I also loved Barbies. A lot.
My favourite toy was my Princess Leia doll. (It was '79! I'm oldish.) but I loved my record player too - I had a wonderful classical Bambi record, it took me far away from where I was and deep into the forest.
I've liked First Friends on Facebook. :)
Aaaand I've also shared the giveaway on Facebook. :)
An orange (fisher-price, I think) teddy bear appropriately named Teddy. Still have him. My girl thinks he's pretty great, too.

I remember a doll named Kimberly (very similar to American Girl, but for 80s kids) with her roller skates and pink shorts; I loved her! I remember my mom cleaned her up , did her hair, and gave her a new outifit one year as a gift when we didn't have much money. I will always remember that! I wish I still had her to give to my girls.
Okay, liked the First Friends Facebook page!

I had a band aid colored bunny that had brown x's stitched for the eyes. I ripped the ears off as well which made it look like a genderless baby. Ugliest child's companion ever :)

Coming back for my daily entry. I SO want to win. :D
I got a Grover doll for Christmas when I was three and took it everywhere with me, including graduate school. Now Grover sits in a new nursery waiting for his new owner to claim him in December.
I had multiple chests full of stuffed toys so my favorite always rotated. I did love my Paddington Bear and my Figment dinosaur from Epcot the most from the stuffed toys, but my Lego sets were my ultimate favorite toys. I think a portrait of Lego toys would be really awesome! I'm sure my future kid(s) will also appreciate it.
When I was little, I desperately wanted a cat. We couldn't have one where we lived nor did my mom want one. So she bought me this Siamese cat stuffed animal and I treated it like my pet cat. I loved it and played with it. One day our basement flooded and my toy cat got ruined. My mom tried to replace it with another cat and it just wasn't the same.
My littlest would probably flip over an illustration of one of his toys. He's a dino fanatic. Hard core.
I had a koala bar with movable arms that I played with and made the world's tiniest pillow for! No name, though.

I had a stuffed dog that was so well loved he lost his nose and looked pretty worn. He finally had to go when our first real puppy sent his stuffing all over the living room.
My favorite toy was a stuffed elephant, not-so-creatively named Ellie. I still have her, complete with falling off head barely hanging on by a pink ribbon.
Mine was a stuffed Panda Bear. I loved that thing so much - I took him everywhere. Once I got sick and vomited on everything in my bed, including Panda. My poor mom cleaned him up brilliantly.
My favourite was hunny bear. He is now 33.6 years old, his birthday is Christmas, I got him for my first Christmas.
He now sleeps in my little girls bed and looks after her. I am not allowed to take him away or she gets really grumpy. Thank goodness he is a good quality or he would have fallen apart by now.
Ted was my favourite. Lovely teddy bear I was given by my uncle when I was only a few months old. I used to make my Dad make him shirts and trousers from his old clothes! I've still got Ted! He's 34 years old :)
