My favorite toy as a child was a simple one. A handmade bunny in a blue dress made for me by my grandmother. Her name was "bunny" and i imagined her as a gymnast. I had her up until i was about 19 years old when i lost her in a fire. Even as a young adult I loved her just the same.

My favourite toy was a stuffed Wile E Coyote. I took it with me when I was about 6 to go visit my aunt in California. It kept setting off the metal detectors at the airport. Luckily this was before 9/11. No one could figure out what was going on and I was a bit scared. I still have him and I'm 41 now.

I did have a sock monkey but my favorite things were all my Barbies. When I was old enough I created my own patterns and made my Barbie dolls clothing. Back then the fabric stores would give my Mom the old pattern books and in the back of them they used to have largish drawings of the pattern pieces from each of the patterns in the book. I figured out that almost all of those drawings were the perfect size for Barbie so I had an endless supply of free patterns to use to create my own clothes for them.

I think almost every kid in my area had a sock monkey because the company that created them was the next town (Rockford, IL) from where I grew up. Even now though I just love Sock Monkeys and during a local quilt shop hop last month I ran across the Sock Monkey Santa fabrics and bought some of the fat quarters. They are just too cute. I'd love to win this fabric to make something for my Grandchildren.

I'm going to be showing my age with this comment but here goes: One of my favorite toys when I was little was my Holly Hobby doll! I loved Holly Hobby and I even had the Holly Hobby matching sheets and bedspread! My other favorite toy that I recall (and again, I am dating myself with this comment, lol) was a small but real, working record player! It was in a portable cardboard-like suitcase type box, the lid flipped open and you put your records on the turntable. I wish I still had it! =)

I had this awesome princess doll that came with these little Velcro jewels that stuck to her hair and dress. Thinking back on it now it was kind of weird because the jewels were in this little contraption that was reminiscent of a staple gun and that's how you attached the jewels. Luckily that behavior didn't translate!
