I was maybe 5 or 6 when I had my first wallpaper memory - my parents decorated our kitchen with repeating cottages/trees/grass wallpaper and after it was all finished we found the cottage placed directly above the stove was mis-printed and looked charred.. it looked as though it had been burned down!

I loved Maya and her friends but I feared the bad spider and I never slept with my head near a spider- picture ; )

Sorry for my bad english...

I was about 4. My mom was cleaning up an old adobe house she inherited and we had to take off all the crumbling wall paper. I think we ripped down like 5 or 6 layers of wall paper. It was about as much fun as a kid can have!

My first wallpaper memory is when I was 7 or 8 - my uncle created hand crafted Christmas cards with wallpaper from a sample book. They tore the edges, and wrote a poem, which I still remember (50 years later)
Last night while I lay sleeping, 'bout half past one or two,
I dreamed up such a lovely card and sent it off to you.
But when I woke this morning, I knew twas all a fake,
So I just tore it off the wall, and here it is, by heck!

I don't think I remember ever having wallpaper in my house when I was younger. I do remember my mom drawing pictures all over the walls of our rooms and she did an amazing job! My room had a nice dragon, river, castle with a princess and many other fantasy things. Another room had a HUGE dragon drawn across the whole wall walking in a forest. It was so nice to have that fun stuff on my wall. =)

My memory is a story my mom told me about when she was living in an old house when she and my dad were first married. There was this room with horrid wallpaper and she decided to pull it up and paint. Well, after finding FOUR layers of wallpaper underneath she said forget this, and followed suit by wallpapering over the top.

Hm, I never encountered wallpaper growing up, but I did find it in one house that I bought.

It was purchased in the late 90's, but the bathrooms had that dated foil wallpaper! It was quickly mudded over and painted a nice neutral colour.

My first memory of wallpaper was when I was 9 and we were building a house. My parents were wallpapering most rooms in the house and I got to help pick out some for my room. I couldn't believe I got to have wallpaper that was pink with flowers on it and have pink carpet too. It was a bit intense but very pretty also. It was a little girl's dream come true.

My first wallpaper memory is from when I was 10. My mom and I ripped off old paper together (always a bonding experience!) and put up some pearlescent light pink rosebud paper in my room... I still love that pattern so much that I found similar fabric and used it in my own little girl's bedding 23 years later!

I have some of that LOUD 70's wallpaper adorning my dining room of my late-sixties home, which we purchased last year. The paper is so funky, olive, coral, dark brown and cream and is a crazy floral/paisley pattern. It is so incredible, I have a love-hate relationship with it. It is really tacky, but in great shape after 40 years. It is so funky, I think I would feel sad if I removed it.

Since I am a transplant from India (where there was no wall paper), I encountered my first in my second house I bought. I traded up from avocado colored bathroom in my first house to rose covered bathroom in my second. The pink roses were varied in sizes and punctuated by iridescent stripes of blue, all set in an ivory background. Every time I entered the room, it brought me back to a victorian age.

She was trying to strip the ugly old kitchen wallpaper off in our new house, and she'd rented a steamer or something, but strips of it were refusing to budge. I only have 2.. One is from when I was way little and my parents wallpapered my brothers room at our summer house in a horrible floral (floral? For a boy? really?) and the roof leaked so it stained...
My most recent experience with wallpaper came when I moved into my flat.. I always hang my clothes to dry on the radiator so it dries quicker. By doing that I accidentally steamed off the strips that were behind it! I kinda ripped them off and exposed the concrete walls and parts of the other 8(!!!) layers of wallpaper and paint underneath. When it came to actually dealing with it (we re-painted the living room) I didn't want to buy/rent a steamer and the idea of chemicals freaked me out, so I totally MacGyverred it and used a super wet washcloth along with my iron to steam off all the layers of wallpaper and paint! It worked brilliantly!

When I was around 10, I decided I didn't like the 1970s wallpaper border in our laundry/mud room. Without telling my parents, I started to strip it off, but of course couldn't get very far. I had probably taken about 1/5 of it off (poorly) before my parents had to step in and finish off a project that they didn't even want to start. The room sorely needed a makeover, though, so I think it all worked out fine in the end...

We had newspaper print wallpaper in our bathroom as I was growing up. I can remember reading it when I was brushing my teeth.

When I was little my parents wallpapered the dining room with wood-grained strips of wallpaper. It made the dining room look very rustic and was really fun!

We did not have wallpaper, but I did have to grow up with those crazy woodgrain panels on my walls - how '70s!
