Amy Butler's 5 Tips for Fitting Crafting into a Busy Schedule & A FABRIC GIVEAWAY!
Jaime and I have been day-dreaming about Amy Butler's Rayon and Corduroy ever since we caressed it at Quilt Market so we are delighted to have her here today to share a peek with you and give some away to a lucky Prudent Baby reader!
Wonder how The Great A.B. gets it all done? Read on as Amy, herself, shares her own 5 tips for fitting crafting and being creative into a busy schedule
Take it away Amy!...
Thank you so much to the ladies of Prudent Baby for letting me stop by to chat with you all today! I have some sweet images of my new fabric substrates and some tips on fitting crafting and creative time into a busy schedule that I would love to share with you all.
Let's get started with some inspirational images from my latest fashion fabrics. My Soul Blossoms Rayon and Corduroy are in stores now and the Voile and Organics are just around the corner! Have a look at these juicy shots and be sure to stop by your favorite quilt shop or online fabric store to get some of your own.
Fitting crafting and creative time into your already busy schedule can seem like an overwhelming task but with a few of my tips below you will be crafting in no time!
1 – Set aside a block of time every day to your creative pursuit. It won’t happen unless you carve the time out of your busy schedule.
2 – A new project can be overwhelming if you only look at the outcome you want to reach; break your project down and get started working a little bit each day – even if it’s only 10 minutes – the project becomes more manageable.
3 – Learning new skills and techniques is a great way to keep yourself going and you might find easier ways to accomplish your project.
4 – If it stops being fun, do something else, even if it's for a short respite.
5 – With your passion and creativity, you can make anything happen. It's all about loving what you do!
Bonus surprise time! To get you started on your crafting adventure we have put together an exciting giveaway. Leave a comment below to be entered to win some of my new fabric and a selection of sewing patterns! Giveaway closes at midnight, July 27th.
For extra entries:
Follow Prudent Baby on Facebook & Twitter. Share on Stumble Upon. Leave a comment for each! Come back and enter every day.
Thank you so much to the lovely ladies here at Prudent Baby for having me join them today. I always love stopping by for a new dose of inspiration. Be sure to stop by the Chronicle Books blog tomorrow, July 21st to see some exciting news about my Corduroy fabrics and a free pattern for you!

So pretty - love love Amy Butler fabrics and patterns!!!!
I follow Prudent Baby on fb. :)
ecisley(at)comcast(dot)net
I really like how Amy uses all different fabrics and not just quilting cotton. It opens up more crafting possibilities.
Tip for crafting on a busy schedule: don't use such pretty fabrics. If I won these I'd probably just stare at them for a long time before I got crafting. Such eye candy, I'd want to find the perfect project.
Love Amy Butler and would love to win some awesome fabrics to get me inspired to make some time for sewing.
I follow PB on Facebook!

My husband would like you to do a series on how to fit housework into a busy crafting schedule. :)
beautiful fabrics! I love Amy Butler!
Everything looks amazing! I haven't been sewing much due to morning sickness but I'm slowly feeling better! I can't wait to get back into it again because I really miss it.
I'm a follower on Facebook!
I would love to be able to set aside some time for crafting every day during the year - however, it seems I'm at my crafty best when my teacher schedule allows a few days off and I can just dive in!
Thanks for the tips! My little one is still taking naps so I'm able to get some crafting done while she gets her zzzz's. Beautiful fabric, as always!
I totally agree with #2 - been trying to practice it as I never seem to get anything done if I attack the whole project at one time.
I follow PB on FB!
New fabric would certainly be a motivator to keep crafting!
Love Amy Butler! Can't wait for this stuff to come into my favorite store in Dallas!
Great ideas for accomplishing projects in the busy time of life! There doesn't seem to be a time that isn't busy!
Would love to win!
Beautiful fabric as always! And you are right, if you don't make the time, it won't happen.

Fitting crafting into my schedule isn't my problem...the tough thing for me is how to fit the rest of life into my sewing time.
I'd so love some AB corderoy!
I would love the chance to make clothes out of her new voile fabric!
LOVE Amy Butler fabric. I would decorate my whole house with it if I could :)
Great tip. Even though I'm retired, the days just seems to slip away. Guess I need to be more disciplined and just block out the time and do it!
Blue and green are the colors in my daughter's room and I spy some fabric that would be simply fantastic in there!
I am just getting in to sewing and crafting and would LOVE to have some great fabric to work with!

Thank you for the advice! I am going back to work full time after being a stay at home mom for over 3 years. I was trying to figure out how to continue to sew and work it into my schedule.I love your fabrics! Thank you again.
Love the fabrics and would love to create with them. Great post! I always forget that I need to schedule and set aside time to be creative. Often I let my crafts fall to the back burner because of lack of time. I should know they are practically therapy for me and the reminder from this post was appreciated.
I like you on FB
What a great post! I always do some cutting work while my kids are playing in the bathtub. My cutting table is in the direct view so I can keep an eye on them and get some headway. That way it is ready for me to sew when I get some time.
The fabrics are awesome and so are the patterns! SOOO looking forward to the ORGANICS :)
This was a great introduction to your wonderful blog, and I appreciate the chat and photos by Amy! Thanks!
I absolutely agree that it is necessary to break a project down into little bits so it's possible to work for even 10 minutes at a time. I set small, daily goals that I can meet (and even exceed!) and at the end of the week it seems like I've gotten a lot accomplished. Plus, whenever I do get a larger block of time I feel like I'm just flying along!
Wow! Corduroy and organics!?! Where have I been (oh yeah, a mother of two)??? I definitely appreciate a reminder to carve out time for creativity, I really haven't done that for months now :( and really needed the reminder. I would love to work with some Amy Butler Corduroy for my baby girl for the fall... the ideas are starting to pour into my head!!!
I now follow on Facebook!
