Amy Butler's 5 Tips for Fitting Crafting into a Busy Schedule & A FABRIC GIVEAWAY!

Jaime and I have been day-dreaming about Amy Butler's Rayon and Corduroy ever since we caressed it at Quilt Market so we are delighted to have her here today to share a peek with you and give some away to a lucky Prudent Baby reader!

Wonder how The Great A.B. gets it all done? Read on as Amy, herself, shares her own 5 tips for fitting crafting and being creative into a busy schedule

Take it away Amy!...

Thank you so much to the ladies of Prudent Baby for letting me stop by to chat with you all today! I have some sweet images of my new fabric substrates and some tips on fitting crafting and creative time into a busy schedule that I would love to share with you all.

Let's get started with some inspirational images from my latest fashion fabrics. My Soul Blossoms Rayon and Corduroy are in stores now and the Voile and Organics are just around the corner! Have a look at these juicy shots and be sure to stop by your favorite quilt shop or online fabric store to get some of your own.

Fitting crafting and creative time into your already busy schedule can seem like an overwhelming task but with a few of my tips below you will be crafting in no time!
1 – Set aside a block of time every day to your creative pursuit. It won’t happen unless you carve the time out of your busy schedule.
2 – A new project can be overwhelming if you only look at the outcome you want to reach; break your project down and get started working a little bit each day – even if it’s only 10 minutes – the project becomes more manageable.
3 – Learning new skills and techniques is a great way to keep yourself going and you might find easier ways to accomplish your project.
4 – If it stops being fun, do something else, even if it's for a short respite.
5 – With your passion and creativity, you can make anything happen. It's all about loving what you do!

Bonus surprise time! To get you started on your crafting adventure we have put together an exciting giveaway. Leave a comment below to be entered to win some of my new fabric and a selection of sewing patterns! Giveaway closes at midnight, July 27th.

For extra entries:
Follow Prudent Baby on Facebook & Twitter. Share on Stumble Upon. Leave a comment for each! Come back and enter every day.

Thank you so much to the lovely ladies here at Prudent Baby for having me join them today. I always love stopping by for a new dose of inspiration. Be sure to stop by the Chronicle Books blog tomorrow, July 21st to see some exciting news about my Corduroy fabrics and a free pattern for you!

Tip for crafting on a busy schedule: don't use such pretty fabrics. If I won these I'd probably just stare at them for a long time before I got crafting. Such eye candy, I'd want to find the perfect project.

I absolutely agree that it is necessary to break a project down into little bits so it's possible to work for even 10 minutes at a time. I set small, daily goals that I can meet (and even exceed!) and at the end of the week it seems like I've gotten a lot accomplished. Plus, whenever I do get a larger block of time I feel like I'm just flying along!

Wow! Corduroy and organics!?! Where have I been (oh yeah, a mother of two)??? I definitely appreciate a reminder to carve out time for creativity, I really haven't done that for months now :( and really needed the reminder. I would love to work with some Amy Butler Corduroy for my baby girl for the fall... the ideas are starting to pour into my head!!!
