GIVEAWAY: SILHOUETTE DIGITAL CUTTING TOOL!!
THIS GIVEAWAY HAS CONCLUDED. A WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCE ON FRIDAY, OCT 1, 2010. THANKS EVERYONE! WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!
We are very excited! We have a Silhouette Digital Cutting Machine to give away to one lucky Prudent Baby reader! I've noticed these cutting machines before but never thought they were for me because I'm not a scrapbooker. But when the ladies at How Does She? contacted us on Silhouette's behalf about doing a giveaway and promised a Silhouette for us (well, one of us, thanks Jaime!) and a Silhouette for you (well, one of you) how could we say no?!? If I didn't like it... I could just send it back and never speak of it again. Well, let me tell you, I like it. I like it very much. And I've only just begun!
So far, my projects are simple, using the templates that come with the starter kit, but I'm totally smitten and ready to try more! Maybe even some scrapbooking!
Here is a gift tag that I made with some cardstock!
And here is a little pillow-box that I made with more of my favorite Martha Stewart Craft Paper
And then just to try something new, I did this spoooooky spiderweb window-cling in adhesive vinyl. Clare has already requested an entire Halloween scene in her bedroom windows!
Click here to find out how to enter and for two lovely offers from Silhouette!
The Giveaway includes:
A Silhouette Machine (a $299.99 value)
Plus...
• Software for Windows XP/Vista, Mac• Power cable, USB cable
• 2 Cutting mats (one for thick media, one for thin media)
• One cutting blade
• $10 gift card to the Silhouette Online Store
To keep this fun and exciting we are going to announce a new way to enter each day until the giveaway ends on September 30th!
It's Thursday and the last day to enter for the chance to win. Just click on a few of our sponsors and/or advertisers sites and report back with something exciting that you find.... A product you can't live without? A hilarious post? A great grocery store coupon? Whatev's, let's just show them some love!
Click on up to 2 links and leave a separate comment for each! Thanks!
The winner must be in the USA and only one winner per household.
International readers, you know we love you!
The fine folks at Silhouette have also come up with two unbelievable package deals for Prudent Baby readers, but you must act fast...
Visit the Silhouette site, click shop, place the Silhouette SD in your basket, enter the discount code "BABY" at checkout and all discounts and freebies will show up in the basket

«Oldest ‹Older 1401 – 1600 of 2645 Newer› Newest»
I subscribe through a feeder.
I signed up to follow your blog by email.....LOVE it!!!
I looked in my "Favorites" folder and found my favorite PrudentBaby project!
DIY Necklace Bib from August!
I soooo want to try this!!!
I already subscribe to PrudentBaby in my Google Reader!!!
Pick me! Pick me!
I subscribe to Prudent Baby by email!!
Subscribed via Gmail Reader! :)
I'm madly in love with felt food but my daughter is a bit young yet. For now, I'm planning on checking out the hooded towel tutorials because I'm going to modify them into an infant owl costume for Halloween. :)
I would love to try the glass etching!
I made the snappy toddler shirt into matching dresses for my girls (and sent you pictures!) They are my favorite!
I'm already a Google Reader subscriber. One of my favorite blogs, I love all the great ideas.
I've made the one shoulder dressy dress, although I was not totally successful. It was my first clothing sewing attempt. I would love to make the crossover 4 season top or the snappy toddler dress.
I'd want to try everything! Get ready for some baby-ignoring. ha! Vinyl for sure, I've been dying for some but don't want to spend the $ for someone else to make it!
And my own wrapping paper, cards, temp tattoos!?! Oh the possibilities are endless!
Ok, so since I'm obsessed with trying to win this... I've been subscribed through Bloglines for a while, but now I'm going to go leave a message on my favorite DIY! PS: Pick me please ;-)
I'm a total sewing newb, but I did attempt, and complete the Nursing Cover. I'm expecting my first in March and I really want to attempt to make the Swaddle Blanket and the Travel Changing Pad! EEK! I love this site!
I've made the Strap Cover for my camera! Thanks for the fab tutorial and giveaway! I've been wanting a Silhouette!!!!!
I've subscribed to your emails...can't wait!
want to make vinyls gifts for christmas, vinyls for my girls bedroom walls.. wow.. this is AMAZING.. of course, i won't win this.. but it's worth a try !!
I love, love, love the 10 minute onesie dress. I've made 6 or 7!
I'm a subscriber!
I'd love to make the portable tea party for my two little girls. It would be so much fun for them to play with!
I've also subscribed to your emails. :) :) :)
#260 and not just because it's the top one! I am SUCH a crier. It's important to be secure in the validity of a good cry.
My favorite piece of prudent advice is #254 Imagine your father seeing that picture of you.
I would love to make custom invites/decor for my son's upcoming birthday!
#258 - Never push a person off a boat!!
love that one, tho it would be kinda hard to not do, lol.

My favorite piece of Prudent Advice: A nickname should be a term of endearment, not an insult.
How do you choose? The pillowcase dress, nursing cover peasant top, etc. They're all fabulous
i signed up!
So many cute and fun things! Would love to get some Christmas gifts done, and my little guys' bedroom with vinyl projects!
Cant wait for the newsletter!
bibs! who knew how many bibs you go through with a child!
First: Make yourself useful. What great, commonsense advice.
Second: How genius are you? Wrapping paper? Of course!
Third: Big congrats on your book coming out.
I would love to make some custom shirts with the heat transfers!
chacoyaguayo{at}yahoo{dot}com
Thank you for the opportunity!
My favorite advice is #253 Pay no attention to the line of impossibility.
No matter what he wants to do he can do it as long as he believes he can!!
#253 "Pay no attn. to the line of impossibility" is such a great piece of advice...but there were many that I like...I may just HAVE to buy this book after all :) I'll read it in between taking breaks from making things on my newly won Silhouette and changing baby diapers :) thanks
Oh...and I would begin by making fancy onesies for my new niece coming in Oct. and my baby girl too with the rhinestone kit and heat transfers....and then on to vinyling the house :)
Favorite advice: Send a thank you note! Preferably a handmade one! Preferably using the sweet, sweet silhouette digital cutter!
I could read the Prudent Advice blog forever and want my daughter to know so many of the pieces of advice when she's older! To choose one though, I like:
#20 Your beauty is not something you earned; appreciate it but maintain modesty and humility in regards to it.
cbakertroublemaker@hotmail.com
I love it! I would love to have one of this! cataltepe@yahoo.com
I would SOOOOOOO love one of these. I would go NUTS!!!
#244 If you don't have the money to buy an extravagant gift for someone special, bake!
I've used this advice a few times before! A homemade tasty treat is always appreciated!!
My favorite piece of advice is "#254 Imagine your father seeing that picture of you." In this day age, where everything gets recorded forever, it's good advice.
I LOVE advice tip #254 - I am often surprised with the pictures people post online....I wish everyone would run that thought through their mind prior to clicking "Enter"! Thanks for the chance to win!
Oh HOW MUCH I would love to win the Silhouette SD!!! But unfortunately I do not live in the USA... :( Won't you still let me join the lottery...? I would pay for the shipping!! ;)
Anyway:
I love the advice:
'Give lots of hugs to everyobe you care for.'
Everyone should really do that!! :)
And YES:
I think I'm gonna buy a copy of this beautiful book.
You at Prudent Baby ROCK. I really LOVE what you are doing.
Thank you!!!!!!
One of my favorite pieces of Prudent Advice is #257. I want my babies to be healthy, happy and whole in body mind and spirit.
Loved the advice about drugs! Saying how you won't know if you're in the majority who can't handle it until you try it, so don't.
dragonflydmb at hotmail dot com
"#236 - Wanting the change the world isn't naive, it's normal."
Absolutely my favorite bit of advice - as a wanna-be world changer, I run into ex-world changers who tell me how silly I am for thinking I can make a difference. It makes me sad. May we ALL keep our youthful ideas about changing this world long enough to actually affect some change!
Number 186 - Relish rocking your babies to sleep.
I am reminded of this each night when I rock my four year old whose long legs dangle over the seat. She was once small enough to fit in my belly.
I would love to win a silhouette machine! I like #5: Learn to love cooking if you can. If you can't, still have a few simple dishes that you can prepare well.
I would love to create some vinyl wall art for my oldest sons new apartment and my youngest sons dorm room.
#253 Pay no attention to the line of impossibility. Is my favorite piece of advice!! Too many times, we talk ourselves out of greatness before we've even tried.
As much as I hate to admit it, occasionally I need to be reminded of this piece of advice:
#235 There is that moment in an argument when you realize you’re wrong. At that point, stop arguing.
#237 Consider what constitutes a good life.
This one's brilliant and a good piece of advice for everyone.
#253 Pay no attention to the line of impossibility. I have always lived by that, so I believe that most. It never hurts to try something and expand beyond yourself.
I LOVE the line about how some things are worth fighting for, but that she knows what those things are to her!
I am all teary sitting here at my desk this monday morninng, having left my own baby daughter at the sitters....missing even more than I usually do having read excerpts from the book.
My favorite piece of advice:
#19: If you have a daughter who can't sleep, sing "In my life" to her.
When my first child was still very new, we had this Beatles instrumental CD. That was the very song that we played over and over as we rocked her in the living room and enjoyed her sweet baby bliss.
Oh, and the fact that it's #19 is kind of cool; it's her birth day :)
#247 Know how to spot charlatans. Something happened to someone close to me recently that made me wish they had heard this.
my favorite piece of advice is #1!!! i am eternally grateful to my mom for pounding that into my young brain. i always write hand written thank you notes and people seem to really, really appreciate that.
Mt favorite piece of prudent advice would have to be:
#244 If you don't have the money to buy an extravagant gift for someone special, bake!
I'm trying so hard to give more gifts like this, as it seems to mean so much more than "stuff" (plus we're on a baby budget).
I would love to make some adorable cupcake holders and labels for my crafts! I love this!
There's tons of good advice, of course, but I'll pick the "Forgive your mother" (#32). I think about this often since I have a [fairly] new child - "Boy, do I hope I'm not screwing her up with how I'm parenting." I'm trying my best, but I do hope she'll forgive me when I fail.
#244 If you don't have the money to buy an extravagant gift for someone special, bake!
Personalized homemade gifts are far more meaningful then a last minute gift from the store....you have tons of wonderful advice!!
This is my Monday entry. Just like everyone else I want one wicked bad! These machines are so versatile! Hope I win!
:-) Jeanette
I love all of the advice given-there are so many good ones to choose from! But this one definitely hits home with me. Theres nothing better to give as a gift than something baked by you.
#244 If you don't have the money to buy an extravagant gift for someone special, bake!
Skye
My favorite advice is "Imagine your father seeing a picture of you doing that". I think that's a really important thing to remember and that's the advice I want to raise my children with. Life's too short to regret things and I think with that advice in mind there would be less to regret!
Love this: You will get good at anything you practice. Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
My favorite piece of advice is: "You will get good at anything you practice."
My favorite piece of advice is #254 Imagine your father seeing that picture of you. I think that putting it this way would make a lasting impression. Imagine being about to do something very naughty then thinking of your father, eeww! This advice should stick in their little heads pretty well. :)
holy mess of comments, prudent baby! I don't know who I want to buy the book for first--me or my expecting #1 bff! I chose this piece of advice in honor of her: #7 Always make time for the art museum in every city you visit...She is an Artiiist, and would agree whole-heartedly.
As much as I want to ask " Are you kidding, pick one?" I am going to have to go with "#17 Be Generous". I want my girls to give of themselves so that they may truly relish the benefits of such generosity. It is a beautifully stated, simple piece of advice, that if all of us worked a v=bit harder to do, we would all live in an infinitley better place. Oh, and I am not buying ten books, but I am certainly buying one for me. Thanks for all your generosity!
My favorite (well, ONE of my favorites) is #254 - Imagine your father seeing that picture of you. This could keep my soon-to-be not-so-little ones out of A LOT of trouble!
I liked this the best:
#218 You can’t base the big decisions in your life on what you think will make other people happy.
It is something I have a hard time doing:) So good to see it in writing sometimes!
My favorite is
#253 Pay no attention to the line of impossibility.
I should follow this advice myself.
I hate these go-over-there-and-then-come-back-here games. So my plan was to just pick the first piece of advice I saw and say that was my favorite. But I got sucked in. I read the first few, and then clicked to read more again. And again. Finally, I decided I needed to just pick one, not because it's really my favorite (although it is good!), but because my 3-year-old was hollering "wipe me mommy!" from the bathroom. (Yes, my life is glamorous, thank you.) So, my Prudent Pick?
Having good taste and being a good person are not the same thing.
I would make christmas gifts like shirts or hats and books for everyone in my family
My favorite is #26 - Tend to your friendships, especially those with women.
#260 impressed me the most-there is nothing better than a good cry! Feeling better is the key!
I want it to make vinyl anything and everything. I would love to drive my hubby nuts with all of the tags and labels that I would make.
Oh My !! What i couldnt make with this machine! I would love love one in the worst way!
who know vinyl would be such a hit. Love it. Thanks for the chance
#18!! When you are a pre-teen, read "Little Women", "Little House on the Prairie" and "Gone With the Wind".
What wonderful advice. I was actually thinking about reading Little House to my darling daughter just the other day. Now, she is only 1, but the day will come and I will read the series to her like my mom read it to me and then she will read it herself like I did.
It is nearly impossible to pick just ONE! So I figured that I would go with somwthing funny:
"#199 Wear bikinis while you can!
There will come a day you realize that you’ve traded in your youthful body for a whole other one; you’ll look down at yourself and think “When did this happen?” That’s the day a bikini stops being appropriate. Don’t worry about that day – I promise by the time you get there you really won’t mind – and in the meantime have a blast in adorable two-pieces"
I look back a time when I thought I was too fat to wear a bikini and now I laugh! Oh, those were the days.... ;)
I really like #187: A woman can run a country (not just be a princess).
#28 Splurge on fresh flowers once in a while.
I had houseguests this weekend and made sure to fill a vase with flowers. Made our home so much more cheerful.
I need this soooo much! I have been wanting on forever for many many different projects but just haven't had the money to do so. I would start with making cupcake wrappers for my cake/cupcake business
#244 If you don't have the money to buy an extravagant gift for someone special, bake!
- and make a beautiful package with your silhouette...
#214 Try not to wait eagerly for people to finish their stories just so you can tell your own versions that more directly involve you.
This is one I have trouble with myself. And I have really been trying to work on it lately.
I have lots of favorites from the book, but I really like #242 Plan Your First Pregnancy. Having an unplanned first pregnancy, this is advice that I really wish I would've heard from my mom. It's worded perfectly...no guilt if they do decide to have sex, but advocates for them to wait if they are just too immature to handle birth control. Can't wait for the book!! :o)

There are too many to pick from to say what is my favorite. But for today it is "You will get good at anything you practice."
I am new to sewing and I have to believe this :)
This is my favorite: #218 You can’t base the big decisions in your life on what you think will make other people happy.
#260 Sometimes you have to cry it out.
I love this tidbit from your new book: #254 Imagine your father seeing that picture of you. So many people on Facebook should really follow this advice! Too many people overshare....
I like #40 'Try to use people's names when you address them, even if you are fairly certain you are never going to see them again.'
I try to do this often, and I am always amazed at how disarming it can be, and how a disgruntled person's demeanor quickly changes when they have been acknowledged by name. :)It's nice.
My favorite piece of advice was "#254 Imagine your father seeing that picture of you." I think I'll be passing this on to my young cousins before my own children. I can't imagine growing up as they do with everything being subject to posting online, there's really no room to do stupid things, and man-o-man I did a lot of stupid things!
I love the silhouette machine! We are expecting our first child in February and I'm trying to decorate the nursery in a gender neutral color scheme of red, orange, teal and lime green, with a polka-dot theme. I'm discovering that it will be a lot harder than I imagined. I would probably use the cutter to make wall clings and cut out appliqués for a polka-dot quilt to match the theme.
Thanks for your awesome blog-I've been getting so many great ideas to prepare for baby!
My favorite piece of advice is #254: Imagine your father seeing that picture of you. There are so many pictures that young girls take/post of themselves that they will regret in the future. This would be a way to keep their poses in check!
"Your future together is not a great subject to discuss on a first date." Ha!
The first one i picked up on was #253 Pay no attention to the line of impossibility. But then later on found one about how everyone will fail at something. Both truths you must accept as part of life and I must try not to worry about the latter. Thanks for the giveaway, I love this tool!
This is one of my favorites. Simply because there are way too many young kids out there having babies. Just like it reads, it is so easy to avoid an unplanned pregnancy.
#242 Plan your first pregnancy.
It’s simple to avoid an unplanned pregnancy: You use birth control or you don’t have sex. If you feel uncomfortable talking to your partner about birth control, then you simply aren’t ready to have a sexual relationship yet. That’s okay; there is plenty of time for that later.
Number 152: Men as a rule are not good mind readers. This advice can save you (and your man) a lot of time, frustration and heartache.
#252 Before you leave for an international trip, scan your passport and email it to yourself.
I would have never thought of that! Thanks!
I would LOVE to win :-)
#218 You can’t base the big decisions in your life on what you think will make other people happy. Good words!
"#225 You will get good at anything you practice." Love this one. Very true! I also love "#210 Acknowledge inequity."
besides the fact that you are clearly pulling these out of my very own mind (that or we are identical twins, separated at birth!), I love them all!
#240 Make yourself useful.
Get off your butt and lend a hand. Providing active service helps others and makes your life richer. Clear the table, water the plants, cook dinner, babysit: I can’t explain exactly why, but I promise that you will feel incrementally better about yourself and your life every single time you get up and do something for someone else.
#183 Dance. It's such a simple piece of advice and for just a few minutes makes everything perfect.
I love the "imagine your father seeing that picture of you"... and think it totally expands to EVERYTHING... actions, written words, etc. awesome advice there.
#158 - "If you love someone, tell them." I lost my mother last year, three weeks before becoming a mother myself. I am so thankful that she knew I loved her, and that she told me how much she loved me. I tell my son I love him every day.
Wow, there's lots of good advice! But this one really stood out to me:
#257 Nothing can ruin your life like drugs.
....some people are able to use drugs without fundamentally destroying their lives; however, you must assume that you are not one of them. You can’t know how you will react to various drugs unless you try them, but the catch is that if you’re part of the majority who can’t control their usage, trying drugs will send you down a spiral from which it will be all but impossible to recover. Every drug user alters his or her life’s potential; drugs rob you of ambition and disconnect you from your identity....
I have 2 family members that struggle with this. Very personal topic to me. I know first hand that this is the case... they are definitely robbed from their identity.
#254 Imagine your father seeing that picture of you.
Anytime I hear about celebrity naked phone pictures being leaked to the world, I think of how ashamed their parents must be!
I very much love the advice on a nickname should be a term of endearment. my 3yo loves to give her aunt nicknames and they are are so cute... snicker doodle, cookie monster. and she remembers to call her that instead of her real name most of the time. I love it!
discipline in your mind, extravagance in your heart.
LOVE all the pearls out there...some funny, some serious...
Straight away, #240 resonates with me. MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL. Why else are we here, right? right?
Thanks for the chance!
#254 Imagine your father seeing that picture of you.
If I knew then what I know now I might not have gotten on that mechanical bull on spring break my sophomore year of college, or at least not have given my camera to my roommate to burn that photo into memory.
#254 Imagine your father seeing that picture of you.
I love advice #242: Plan your first Pregnancy. My husband and I are expecting our first, and we definitely were careful and waited until we were both ready. I'm sure we would have been happy with a baby anytime, but it's wonderful that we can both really be in this together and feel that this is the perfect time for us!
#260 Sometimes you have to cry it out--so true and something I try to explain to my hubby--it doesn't mean I am unhappy or depressed--sometimes a good cry is all it takes!
So many fun ideas! We are renting currently and it would be so much fun to add some fun to our son's room with something since we can't paint.
#253 Pay no attention to the line of impossibility.
I love this advice. My parents gave me this advice growing up and the self confidence to believe it...I hope to do the same for my children.
I love helpful tip #260 - sometimes you have to cry it out. A monthly purge always makes me feel better.
when i saw the new way to enter today, i thought to myself "oh, this will be easy! i can pick my favorite piece of advice real quick.". boy, did i think wrong. it is all SO GOOD. and I am not just saying that. everyone needs to read it and be reminded of those things on a regular basis. but since i had to pick one, i decided to go with #215. pursue more than just the things you are good at.
The first thing I would do is cut some fantastic vinyl patterns to put on the naked wall of my new apartment. The possibilities are endless with the magical machine! Hope to win! Thanks for the chance!
Very excited for the book - now I just need the daughter!
#235 There is that moment in an argument when you realize you’re wrong.
At that point, stop arguing.
I like "If you have to tell someone no, tell them in person." This is probably the one piece of advice I need to work on.
But I really like: When your tax bill goes up, revel in all the libraries, schools, and roads you are helping to maintain.
That is how I feel about taxes (and it's nice to know someone else feels that way too).
My favorite advice is "Dance". :)
I {heart}
#248 Discipline in your mind; extravagance in your heart.
So beautiful! If I win the Silhouette, I may even make a vinyl out of that piece of advice to display in my daughter's room! :)
My favorite piece of advice from the book is to have only things that you need and/or love in your home, and to let the rest go. GREAT to be uncluttered!
I love that you thought to advise your daughter to at least try to speak the native language when in a foreign country.
rebekahricker@yahoo.com
The best advice has to be "always send a thank you note"! That is my pet peeve these days - no one does it anymore! It's so nice to get a thank you card in the MAIL showing that your gift meant something. It's annoying when you never hear a word about the gift. I do my best to write thank you notes all the time! Hope I win! :)
I would love to use this to create window decals for my son. And also to create t-shirt designs. Thanks for the amazing giveaway!
#214 Try not to wait eagerly for people to finish their stories just so you can tell your own versions that more directly involve you.
This is great advice.
#237 Consider what constitutes a good life.
I like the advice about nicknames! I have been stuck with a terrible nickname and I really wish i would have stopped it from the get go!
There are so many wonderful pieces of advice. It is so great that you actually got them down on paper. They are things I would also want to pass on but would probably forget and go blank if I tried to write them down. This is one that is so very true. I think it speaks for itself. #218 You can’t base the big decisions in your life on what you think will make other people happy.
I am making a wedding quilt with a monogram and would love to have it for cutting out the monogram. And I could make one in vinyl for the dance floor too!
I love all the options for the vinyl. My walls need a facelift! Please help. :)
I love/hate #242: Plan Your First Pregnancy. I love it because I want to say it to my girls just like this; hate it because I don't want to actually say it! Know what I mean?
Great blog, and thanks for the awesome giveaway!
hilarypeterson@gmail.com
My favorite advice from your book is definitely #218: "You can't base the big decisions in your life on what you think will make other people happy". Definitely 100% true!
#258 "Never push a person off a boat" From someone who has a husband that is a practical joker, this is just good advice!!!
#253 Pay No Attention to the Line of Impossibility!
This is so important! I think a lot of people are scared off of what they really want to do by not opening their minds to the possibility!
Good one!
Everything. I LOVE everything!!!
I like Prudent Advice #242 Plan your first pregnancy!
There were so many wonderful pieces of advice, but this one seemed most appropriate for the contest: "If you are passionate about a craft, invest in the best equipment you can afford." And it's true!
My favorite advice is: Hold the Door Open! It seems that so many people have lost the art of chivalry in today's culture. I feel that it is important to resurrect politeness and to expect it of our children. I also like that this piece of advice can be applied in another way...Never close the door by giving up on people or opportunities or yourself--hold it open!
my fav bit of prudent advice is #9 Give lots of hugs to everyone you care for.
I want to do the heat transfers first to make some cute shirts for my kids...then go crazy doing all the other stuff!!!!!
#259 Try to speak the local language. There is nothing like a little effort to gain respect and hopefully meaningful relationships!
#235 There is that moment in an argument when you realize you’re wrong. At that point, stop arguing.
Favorite Advice I have to say
#255 You are not a cheater.
The way you prove this is by not cheating on anything or anyone. There’s no excuse for it.
I love this it is so simple yet so true
I want to make vinyl cutouts for my kids rooms
#254 Imagine your father seeing that picture of you.
My husband would most certainly agree with me on this one. This applies to video too.
My favorite piece of advice is Dicipline for your mind, extravagance for your heart!
The heat transfer paper looks super fun!
"When given the opportunity, wear a costume"
LOVE IT!!
I wish I had a daughter to give this book to!
I would love to decorate and make gifts. Oh man I would have so much fun!
luntsnlove at yahoo
I would love to try making some vinyl images to put on jars and in frames.
i wanna win so bad! i woud make so many cards and tshirts and home decor its not even funny!
I have been reading some of Jaime's advice from her book and the following made me laugh at myself for not thinking of it! #129 The trick to sewing in a straight line is a rubber band.
Wrap a rubber band around the base of your machine at the distance from the needle you want your hem to be. If you watch the needle while you sew your stitches will look like you were sewing through an earthquake, so focus on the rubber band.
I've had earthquake like stitches!
One of my favorites is #218 You can't base the big decisions in life on what you think will make others happy. - It's just way too true. I can't wait to get the book :)
I would start with a halloween sign for my glass front door done in vinyl.
And for your Monday entry. I like all the advice, it reminds me of an article that I have had for about 15 years now that was written around father's and my dad gave it to me. Although I think there were only 10 ideas, but he sure made a point about one of those!
8.) a dog is a loyal friend from whom you will learn the nature of love and devotion.
I like "#254 Imagine your father seeing that picture of you." Given the Facebook entries that I see ... it seems like very useful advice in this day and age, because your father is more and more likely to see that picture of you!
1. Always send a thank you note!
I love all things vinyl, I want to cut vinyl to put on everything!
I will love to make some cool t-shirts for my boys.
#235 There is that moment in an argument when you realize you’re wrong.
At that point, stop arguing.
LOVE this one, so important in marriage. I think I might love this book, i'm pretty sure I need a copy!
I like the advice - Sometimes you have to cry it out. I try to tell my hubby this, but he still doesn't believe me.
Monday's entry: OMG, I love these words of advice! Of the ones I've read so far, I'm in love with #3 the most, Never underestimate your father's ability to understand. It's something I need to try more of myself, but definitely want to instill in my daughter to stay "daddy's girl" forever.
mandmvaught@centurylink.net
as a daddy's girl, can't help but love this one...
"Don't underestimate your father's ability to understand you."
I am a big fan of #244: If you don't have the money to buy an extravagant gift for someone special, bake!
Nothings says happy birthday like a homemade carrot cake!
fave advice.
never push a person off a boat. love it!
ranaebroadhead@gmail.com
I love that your dog is a loyal friend... we have 2 dogs now and I can't imagine live without them... would love to cut a silhouette of them too (huskies) ;)
#260 sometimes you just have to cry it out.
wow. boy do I know about this one.
I like #256 A nickname should be a term of endearment, not an insult.
blessed.mama4 at yahoo.com
Sooo many fabulous uses for this little baby!
Karla
I'd make wall decals for all my bare walls, then t shirts, bags, oh it's endless!!
I so would make many vinyl items for my sons room. Along with things fo my new etching for glass and all my christmas gifts!!! I can stop all my hand done birthday banners it would make my year!!! I love this machine
"#260 Sometimes you just have to cry." (And sometimes your husband will try to fix it ~ but there may not necessarily be anything broken, you just need a good cry!)
My favorite is #260 Sometimes you have to cry it out. That definitely was true to me when my babies were in the NICU. At first I tried to be strong and put on a brave face. One day a very nice nurse came in and told me it was okay to cry so I broke down. I actually felt a lot better afterwards and was better able to deal with things.
I think my favorite is #237 Consider what constitutes a good life. Love the projects you did with the Silhouette!
#244 If you don't have the money to buy an extravagant gift for someone special, bake!
I have been wanting to try this machine. Vinyl decals for my daghter's playarea are first on the list
poohsden at gmail dto com
Advise monday entry - summer camps are some of the best memories you will have
poohsden at gmail dot com
Scanning your passport and sending it to yourself before an international trip is genius! Congrats again to Jaime for a wonderful book!
emmillee(at)gmail(dot)com
I love so many of them, but this is one that I've seen you reference on the website. I live in a college town and ever since I read it, it pops into my head frequently when I'm walking on campus:
#193 Leggings are not pants
I like #9 Give lots of hugs to everyone you care for.
I'd use the machine to make those cute cupcake holders and etch all the glass I can find,
I really like this advice: "If you have to tell someone no, do it in person."
I LOVE 203, Return your cart. I absolutely hate it when they are left all willy-nilly everywhere and then it's raining and the wind is blowing and a cart hits you in the hip while your carrying your baby and dragging your 4 yr old... Not that I've ever had any problems like that....
I love the advice about having a good cry!! Sooo true sometimes!
I like #234 -- take pride in your work. I think women in general don't do enough of that.
My favorite adive is to ignore the impossible.
#234 Take pride in your work.
ooooh...PLEASE pick me!!!!!
#239 Anything you chase after runs. LOVE THIS! I am going back to read more!
#244 If you don't have the money to buy an extravagant gift for someone special, bake!
This is the best! I bake all the time and live on a tight budget. I'm glad that my friends look forward to my handmade gifts and baked goods!
