GIVEAWAY: SILHOUETTE DIGITAL CUTTING TOOL!!

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS CONCLUDED. A WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCE ON FRIDAY, OCT 1, 2010. THANKS EVERYONE! WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!

We are very excited! We have a Silhouette Digital Cutting Machine to give away to one lucky Prudent Baby reader! I've noticed these cutting machines before but never thought they were for me because I'm not a scrapbooker. But when the ladies at How Does She? contacted us on Silhouette's behalf about doing a giveaway and promised a Silhouette for us (well, one of us, thanks Jaime!) and a Silhouette for you (well, one of you) how could we say no?!? If I didn't like it... I could just send it back and never speak of it again. Well, let me tell you, I like it. I like it very much. And I've only just begun!
So far, my projects are simple, using the templates that come with the starter kit, but I'm totally smitten and ready to try more! Maybe even some scrapbooking!

Here is a gift tag that I made with some cardstock!

And here is a little pillow-box that I made with more of my favorite Martha Stewart Craft Paper

And then just to try something new, I did this spoooooky spiderweb window-cling in adhesive vinyl. Clare has already requested an entire Halloween scene in her bedroom windows!

Click here to find out how to enter and for two lovely offers from Silhouette!

The Giveaway includes:

A Silhouette Machine (a $299.99 value)
 Plus...
• Software for Windows XP/Vista, Mac• Power cable, USB cable
• 2 Cutting mats (one for thick media, one for thin media)
• One cutting blade
• $10 gift card to the Silhouette Online Store

To keep this fun and exciting we are going to announce a new way to enter each day until the giveaway ends on September 30th!

It's Thursday and the last day to enter for the chance to win. Just click on a few of our sponsors and/or advertisers sites and report back with something exciting that you find.... A product you can't live without? A hilarious post? A great grocery store coupon? Whatev's, let's just show them some love!

Click on up to 2 links and leave a separate comment for each! Thanks!

The winner must be in the USA and only one winner per household.
International readers, you know we love you!

The fine folks at Silhouette have also come up with two unbelievable package deals for Prudent Baby readers, but you must act fast...

Visit the Silhouette site, click shop, place the Silhouette SD in your basket, enter the discount code "BABY" at checkout and all discounts and freebies will show up in the basket

Absolutely my favorite bit of advice - as a wanna-be world changer, I run into ex-world changers who tell me how silly I am for thinking I can make a difference. It makes me sad. May we ALL keep our youthful ideas about changing this world long enough to actually affect some change!

My favorite piece of advice:
#19: If you have a daughter who can't sleep, sing "In my life" to her.

When my first child was still very new, we had this Beatles instrumental CD. That was the very song that we played over and over as we rocked her in the living room and enjoyed her sweet baby bliss.
Oh, and the fact that it's #19 is kind of cool; it's her birth day :)

I hate these go-over-there-and-then-come-back-here games. So my plan was to just pick the first piece of advice I saw and say that was my favorite. But I got sucked in. I read the first few, and then clicked to read more again. And again. Finally, I decided I needed to just pick one, not because it's really my favorite (although it is good!), but because my 3-year-old was hollering "wipe me mommy!" from the bathroom. (Yes, my life is glamorous, thank you.) So, my Prudent Pick?

Having good taste and being a good person are not the same thing.

It is nearly impossible to pick just ONE! So I figured that I would go with somwthing funny:

"#199 Wear bikinis while you can!

There will come a day you realize that you’ve traded in your youthful body for a whole other one; you’ll look down at yourself and think “When did this happen?” That’s the day a bikini stops being appropriate. Don’t worry about that day – I promise by the time you get there you really won’t mind – and in the meantime have a blast in adorable two-pieces"

I look back a time when I thought I was too fat to wear a bikini and now I laugh! Oh, those were the days.... ;)

My favorite piece of advice was "#254 Imagine your father seeing that picture of you." I think I'll be passing this on to my young cousins before my own children. I can't imagine growing up as they do with everything being subject to posting online, there's really no room to do stupid things, and man-o-man I did a lot of stupid things!

I love the silhouette machine! We are expecting our first child in February and I'm trying to decorate the nursery in a gender neutral color scheme of red, orange, teal and lime green, with a polka-dot theme. I'm discovering that it will be a lot harder than I imagined. I would probably use the cutter to make wall clings and cut out appliqués for a polka-dot quilt to match the theme.

Thanks for your awesome blog-I've been getting so many great ideas to prepare for baby!

This is one of my favorites. Simply because there are way too many young kids out there having babies. Just like it reads, it is so easy to avoid an unplanned pregnancy.

#242 Plan your first pregnancy.
It’s simple to avoid an unplanned pregnancy: You use birth control or you don’t have sex. If you feel uncomfortable talking to your partner about birth control, then you simply aren’t ready to have a sexual relationship yet. That’s okay; there is plenty of time for that later.

Wow, there's lots of good advice! But this one really stood out to me:
#257 Nothing can ruin your life like drugs.
....some people are able to use drugs without fundamentally destroying their lives; however, you must assume that you are not one of them. You can’t know how you will react to various drugs unless you try them, but the catch is that if you’re part of the majority who can’t control their usage, trying drugs will send you down a spiral from which it will be all but impossible to recover. Every drug user alters his or her life’s potential; drugs rob you of ambition and disconnect you from your identity....

I have 2 family members that struggle with this. Very personal topic to me. I know first hand that this is the case... they are definitely robbed from their identity.

"#260 Sometimes you just have to cry." (And sometimes your husband will try to fix it ~ but there may not necessarily be anything broken, you just need a good cry!)

My favorite is #260 Sometimes you have to cry it out. That definitely was true to me when my babies were in the NICU. At first I tried to be strong and put on a brave face. One day a very nice nurse came in and told me it was okay to cry so I broke down. I actually felt a lot better afterwards and was better able to deal with things.

I love so many of them, but this is one that I've seen you reference on the website. I live in a college town and ever since I read it, it pops into my head frequently when I'm walking on campus:

I LOVE 203, Return your cart. I absolutely hate it when they are left all willy-nilly everywhere and then it's raining and the wind is blowing and a cart hits you in the hip while your carrying your baby and dragging your 4 yr old... Not that I've ever had any problems like that....

This is the best! I bake all the time and live on a tight budget. I'm glad that my friends look forward to my handmade gifts and baked goods!
