Hey Baby! Shower
My BFF Mary is about to have a baby. Like, any second now. You met her when she and I made DIY Duct Tape Dress Forms last year. So of course I wanted to throw her a baby shower along with our other two fave ladies, Felice and Kristen. Mary is keeping the sex of her little one a mystery until the big day, so we went for a gender neutral shower. This was easy, because her favorite color by far always has and always will be green. So with the idea of green in mind, and a brainstorm with Jacinda, we went for a sort of non-theme theme, "Hey Baby!" Check out our fun-filled morning...
"Hey Baby!" Gender-Neutral Baby Shower
To compliment our gender neutral baby shower color of green, we chose peachy-orange accents. For the table, large mason jars filled with color-coordinating flowers from Whole Foods added brightness
with some wrapped floral wire spelling "hey" and "baby" thrown in for fun.
I found these little nests in the floral section of Michael's, and filled them with jordan almond "eggs" with a little flag (made on my silhouette with sketch pens) to set in the center of the tables.
For food, we went tea party style, with tiny sandwiches
A variety of yummy teas
Bite size sweet treats
Teensy quiches and croissants
I've always loved using old wine bottles to serve water
And for dessert (and to take home), homemade sugar cookie pops
And also oreo pops, because the mama-to-be loves her some oreos. Scarlet even helped make them.
All displayed on an awesome collapsible wooden cupcake/cake-pop stand from The Cupcake Tower (I can't tell you how much I love owning one of these, highly recommend).
For favors, we found little ceramic tart bowls at World Market and filled them with sewn cards that said "hey baby" along with green macarons, then we wrapped them in tulle and tied with peach and green ribbon.
We skipped games, but we did do one activity. I'll tell you all about it in another post, but it was a big hit.
So everything looked green and serene, just like Mary.
The best part of baby showers, in my opinion, is ladies from different generations all talking motherhood and having a lovely time.
