FABRIC FRIDAY!

Doesn't this Catch of the Day fabric just take you back to those days spent fishing with dad by the river? Not me. I was always too grossed out by the idea of slimy and icky fish flopping around. What was I thinking? The idea of sitting in a boat all day long in silence to catch some little yummy fish, sounds pretty fantastic!

To enter for a chance to win one yard of Catch of the Day by Hoodie tell us of a fish related memory you have. It can be your memory as a kid all the way to something that just happened yesterday. When I was little my mom thought it would be a good idea to let our goldfish swim with the Koi in our pond. About 5 minutes went by and Goldie was gone. Apparently the Koi preferred to eat her than play. Leave your comment anytime between now and Friday, October 28th. Tweet, Stumble, or share on Facebook and leave another comment letting us now. Come back every day for new entries. We'll randomly select a winner and announce right here next Friday.

Find out who won last week's Fabric Friday after the jump...

The winner of one yard of Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934 Novelty Dots Red is...

I remember fishing on a pond with my Daddy when I was probably 8 and I caught 12 fish! He only caught one. Maybe he was just too busy helping me get mine off the hook and getting more bait on there....oh, the sacrifices of parents. (c:

What hip little fish! I used to love fishing my dad's stocked pond on his farm - well I loved casting over and over again and had no love for waiting motionless or actually baiting my hook.

I didn't catch much.

We've had goldfish for a while now. They tend to die as goldfish are wont to do. This was our son's first exposure to death. We explained to our son that when things die they go to heaven. He accepted it.

A few days after our first fish mortality we had a few friends over for dinner. Apropos of NOTHING, Calder pipes up and says, "Fish Heaven is in the toilet!" Everyone at the table was DYING. Even in the face of grief, that kid is hilarious.

Love that! Kids are crazy. Our goldfish "Bonefishie" died and we told our son that he had gone to live with another family (we found him floating, got rid of the bowl, etc, before he woke up). This was a year ago. A few days ago, he said, "I used to have a fish named Bonefishie and he died." I turned around, surprised and said, "How did you know that he died?" And Atticus said, "I didn't. But you just told me." Ehhh. Outsmarted by a 5 year old. :/

My family and I went fishing at a lake on vacation. My sister caught a fish, but it flopped back into the water. My dad was afraid she'd be upset, but she just said, "That was Elizabeth's fish." Elizabeth was our neighbor who had told her to catch a fish for her.

haha I remember fishing with my husband (boyfriend at the time) and we were trying to catch little fish for bait. No fish were biting my hook so I started singing "I like the fishies. The fishies don't like me. The fishies won't bite my hook!" It cracked my husband up and I did end up catching a couple fish afterwards. =)

Well, my son's name is Fisher, so he definitely needs me to make something with this fabric. I have so many great fishing memories with my daddy and grandad. I stopped fishing when they made me start baiting my own hooks. I just couldn't do it to the crickets and worms. :)

I remember fishing (my first and only time) with my grandpa on this little manufactured suburb lake, and I caught a fish. Then, my little brother got tired of holding his fishing rod, so I took it, but I got tired too and so I just propped it up next to me. A fish got caught on that rod, and I wanted to take credit for it, but my grandpa wouldn't let me, so I only got to say I caught one fish that day. I was probably 5 or 6, my brother 2 years younger.

My parents had to buy me a goldfish to stop the crying. lol

My favorite fish memory is a little morbid, but funny enough to share. My college roomie and I had two pet fish, Tiger and Fluffy (after the two Brady Bunch pets), and unfortunately they did not survive a long time. We decided to have a memorial service at low tide at night when we could sneak under the bridge support on the bay and send them back into the sea. Some of our friends came to witness and we all said something nice. When we were going to "send" them back my roommmate took the plastic baggie they were in from her pocket and deposited them into the sea and placed the baggie back in her pocket. We had a few drinks prior to the service and I guess my roommate didn't realize only one of the fish left the baggie! She didn't have the heart to tell me in the morning when she found it so she flushed it. A few weeks later (and a few drinks into the night) she finally told me after I promised not to get mad. I couldn't stop laughing. I thought it was pretty funny she was walking around all night with a dead fish in her pocket!

Ahh - fishing. My father took me for my first time when I was 3, and it is something he and I have enjoyed doing together ever since. This summer (32 years later), we continued the tradition by taking my 3 year-old daughter on her first fishing trip. Even though we didn't catch anything, I fondly (and tearfully) remembered all of the special fishing trips and time spent with my Daddy. Because my daughter didn't get to experience the pride of the catch, my father took her every weekend to a local stock pond until she did. What a special grandpa!

If I win this fabric, I want to make a frame for the photo of my father fishing with his grand-daughter, which I know he will adore. For my daughter, I will make an apron for her to wear next year when we're frying up her next catch!

Love the fabric! I have a lot of fishing memories since my dad was a charter fisherman on lake Erie. But one that comes to mind was once when fishing in a small inland lake, my dad, brother and I fished for a couple hours and I caught oodles and way more than the both of them combined. The type of fish was called a crappie, pronounced crop-pie, but my dad gave me the nickname Crappie Queen (this time as crap-pie). As an eight year old it was hilarious.

We camped on The nariel river enjoyed a cold beer while Adam threw a rod in the water and I relaxed on the stones on the shore with a good book. And if we were lucky ending the day with fresh BBQ trout and salad for dinner. It's where I fell jnlovd with fish, the river and my husband. i would love this fabric... maybe a cheesy tie for the mister in my life. or maybe for some little misters, because i can just imagine my nephew being precious wearing this to church on sundays. :]

Loved to fish out of a boat with my Grandmother. She would row us out to an area she knew was good fishing (I still don't know how she knew)She used a handline and taught us how to carefully lay the line out as we brought it back into the boat so as not to get into a tangle..but not being so careful I did make a horrible mess...I can still remember the age it took to get that line back on the cork reel. Taught me a good lesson or three about how to deal with knots. We always had a lovely meal of freshly caught and fried up fish and the aroma is in my senses and the delicate flavour is in my mouth as write. Served with crusty toast and homemade tartare sauce (her recipe) it was tres bon apetit.

My husband is an absolute fishing fanatic! We live in the great Pacific Northwest, so the fishing here is great!

The last time we went out fishing, we went salmon fishing in the sound. We took along our daughter, who is 4, and my 7 month pregnant tummy! :) Well, the fish decided to test my hubby, and we got TWO on the line at the same time! In all of the chaos, he ended up in the water, me trying to get the fish lines out of the way, and help him back in!

Definitely one of those, "laugh later" moments!

My brother always had a fish tank in his room when we were younger, and one day a fish vanished. We assumed the cat got it somehow. A few years later when he was moving out, we moved the dresser and found a completely in tact fish skeleton behind it. He jumped ship and we had no idea. Never smelled a dead, rotting fish either. So weird!

I used to work at a resort near my house in Hawaii and my job was to teach children how to use mini scuba tanks and give them tours around a lagoon. It was awesome to see the expressions on their little faces through their masks when a fish would swim up close to them. I learned the names of all of the fish in the lagoon so I could seem really smart to them :).

We always go fishing at our summer cottage on the Great Lakes. We used to have an opening in our front dock where the water was about 2 feet deep and my dad would catch pike and put them in there. We used to love catching rock bass and feeding the pike. So fun! Now it's covered up as the water level fell :( Good memories though!

My first fishing memory is actually fishing for crabs. My uncle gave us all a chicken leg on a string. We ended up catching quite a few crabs this way.

My father didn't do fishing so my first time out was with a boyfriend. I still like fishing and can handle putting worms on the hook, but not the fish off the hook!

Usually my dad took my brother and male cousins fishing, but once he took my cousin Susan and me fishing from a canoe on a small, local river in Arkansas. Susan caught a rainbow trout. Dad was beside himself. We has no idea where this beautiful fish could have come from to end up in our river.

I used to fish with my stepdad at his lake house every summer. Such good memories. Now he can't wait to teach my son when he gets a little older!

My sister had these huge goldfish that did not like being relegated to their tank...they'd leap their way out of it on an almost daily basis. Maybe the water was too warm, too cold, or maybe they had yearnings for the vast and open sea? Who knows. But one day my sister walked into her dark room at night, on her way to bed, when we heard a scream. She had stepped on one with her bare foot. I think that was the end of the line for the fish tank in her room.

when I was little, on one of our many camping trip, my dad was showing me how to clean a fish to eat for dinner. He found the stomach and said "let's see what this guy had for lunch!" Inside, we found a live and struggling minnow. I'll never forget it!

I do remember fishing with my father as a child! It was especially fun one year for his birthday when our whole family (my dad, mom, two brother and myself) took the small family boat on the beautiful canals in Ohio on a warm June day. I think our catch totaled 100+, but unfortunately they were all teeny tiny and we couldn't take any home! It didn't matter so much. It was just a very fun day to have spent as a family.

2 years ago, my Sweety was part of the staff for a "senior sports activities" day which included fishing. Of course, very kind seniors gave some of the catch of the day to the nice youngsters in the staff.
Sweety came back home very proud with 9 trouts, only to learn trouts were THE fish that his girlfriend of 2 years could not bear, not even touch... He did freeze them, but so far, none has reached the bottom of a pan (while more than half of them did reach the bottom of the trash can).
Lovely fabric anyway!

I remember taking my kids fishing a couple of years ago while camping and being shocked and delighted that they would actually touch the minnows that we were using for bait! I thought they would be scared out of their minds!

I adore this fabric! :)

The first "pets" my husband and I had together were fish. We were so excited when our Mollies had babies!

One summer my family discovered that a small pond nearby was stocked with bluegills. My siblings and I went fishing repeatedly and my mother was stuck figuring out what to do with all of those little fish!
