Quilt Market - Embroidery is EVERYWHERE!



Since we have embroidery on the brain, Jaime and I couldn't help but notice all of the GORGEOUS examples on display at Quilt Market. Maybe they will inspire your entry for the "Use Your Words" Contest. Are you ready to see all of the pretty embroidered eye-candy?

First we have the lovely Amy Butler. Aren't these critters made from her corduroy (coming soon!) super cute? The little hand-stitched elements make me (and them) smile. Does this count as embroidery? It does to us! Come, follow me...


Check out Amy's Voile necklace. Yes, Soul Blossom will soon be available in Voile, Cord and (gasp) Rayon!

These little kits were genius. Rubber stamps of cross-stitch patterns over which to stitch. What? So cute. Love the randomness of Japanese designs.

Then we found our friends at Kreinik and fell in love with their variegated threads.


A rainbow of spooled threads brings me to my happy place.

These jars of embroidery thread at the Bari J booth reminded me of Jaime's Fabric Storage Solution.

These embroidery patterns from Sarah Jane were heart-melting.

And this gorgeous Sarah Jane fabric panel is ready to be embroidered with names and quilted.

I fell in love with the hand-dyed fabric that A&E-Signature used to show off their embroidery. The perfection of machine embroidery combined with an unexpected hand-made touch.


Wouldn't this glow-in-the-dark thread be great for so many nursery projects?

And then we landed on the embroidered loveliness of Anna Maria Horner. We were so inspired, maybe you will be too. Oh Anna Maria...

Hand embroidery using a fabric pattern as your guide. Just trace, so easy! I want this pillow!

Jaime admires a hand-stitched belt on a hand-stitched dress.

And this pillow that Anna Maria drew freehand with a water soluble pen and then embroidered over. Heavenly!

More fine needlework on fabric. I love how it's just a little bit.

Even the rug in Anna Maria's booth was cross-stitch inspired.


Then onto one of my favorite embroidery pattern designers, Alyssa Thomas of Penguin & Fish. Her alphabet patterns would be perfect for the "Use Your Words" Contest. So so cute.

Wow, so nice to see this. Embroidery is HUGE here in Germany, especially all sorts of crazy designs on kid's stuff.

So if American is finally getting going with reintroducing embroidery, why can't Germany pick up the pace on cool fabric? *sigh*

oooohhh! So many beautiful pictures!

I figured prudent mamas would enjoy my husband's definition of embroidery: embroidery is making little tid bits on top of the fabric.

He also couldn't understand why I ordered so much "ribbon" (embroidery floss) on amazon when I already have a bunch of thread :D
