GIVEAWAY: Slow Cooker Revolution

Since becoming moms both Jaime and I have become crock-pot enthusiasts. We've both found some amazing recipes, but you do have to sift through the tuna casseroles and cream of mushroom chickens (not that there's anything wrong with that) to find the treasures. So imagine our jump-for-joy, sing-from-the-mountain-top, dance-in-the-rain euphoria when Slow Cooker Revolution from the Editors at America's Test Kitchen arrived on our doorstep. CROCK-POT + ATK = YES PLEASE. And is that lasagna on the cover? Wait, what? Lasagna in the slow cooker? Tell us more. So you're thinking... good for you, you have a new cookbook, but what's in it for me? Well not only are the folks at ATK culinary geniuses but they also super nice and so we have a copy of Slow Cooker Revolution to give away to a lucky reader. Find out more...

Leave your comment anytime between now and midnight next Tuesday, March 22nd. We will randomly select a winner (with a US address, No P.O. Boxes) and announce next week.

Tell us what you like to make in the slow cooker. For additional entries every day, Stumble, Tweet and Facebook "Like" this giveaway. Leave an extra comment for each.

And in case you are wondering, I rock the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go and Jaime has "Some crap one with two settings 'really hot' and 'really f*ing hot'" Ha, nice. Now I know what to get Jaime for Mother's Day.

I have always like the crock pot idea, but I am only inspired by cookbooks with pictures. (Ha! Now you know my weakness!)I haven't come across any crock pot cookbooks with pictures before, and most have had crazy organization which is not easy to sift through. I would love this cookbook, because 1. I love ATK and 2. because I would like to the crock pot more but never know where to find a good recipe. This would solve my problem for sure!

To tell you the truth, I mostly use the crockpot to keep things warm, like cider or chili. Only on rare occasions do I make an actual dinner in the crockpot 'cause so much of it turns into just mushy stuff. And I seriously dislike any recipe that has "cream of this or that" soup. Sorry to sound so snobby... but I would DEF buy an ATK crockpot cookbook because they always do things the "right" way! I believe ATK could make a crockpot convert of me...

Oh, but I DO make corned beef on St. Patty's Day every year... and I use the crockpot to get it nice and tender! So, yeah... I use it.

We do lots of soups and stews in our crock pot, and pulled pork is always good too. I am so so so psyched that ATK has a slow cooker book! Their Healthy Family Cookbook and Family Baking Book are my bibles, and I was just wondering the other day why they had no slow cooker recipes. Now I know--hooray!

I love slow cookers for chicken dishes. Because chicken is that one meat product that can be so sensitive to the time it's out and when it's cooked, I like leaving it in the slow cooker for tacos or burritos later. That way the chicken it cooked through, it's safe and it falls apart easily. Love chicken with corn and salsa, a little brown sugar and dijon mustard.

I love to make buffalo chicken sandwiches in my slow cooker. It is ridiculously easy...just put 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts and 3/4 of a 17 oz bottle of buffalo sauce in the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-7 hours. Then shred with a fork, add 2 tbsp butter and you are done! Just put it on a hoagie bun with provolone... Or add it to a quesadilla, YUM! :)
