GIVEAWAY: Slow Cooker Revolution
Since becoming moms both Jaime and I have become crock-pot enthusiasts. We've both found some amazing recipes, but you do have to sift through the tuna casseroles and cream of mushroom chickens (not that there's anything wrong with that) to find the treasures. So imagine our jump-for-joy, sing-from-the-mountain-top, dance-in-the-rain euphoria when Slow Cooker Revolution from the Editors at America's Test Kitchen arrived on our doorstep. CROCK-POT + ATK = YES PLEASE. And is that lasagna on the cover? Wait, what? Lasagna in the slow cooker? Tell us more. So you're thinking... good for you, you have a new cookbook, but what's in it for me? Well not only are the folks at ATK culinary geniuses but they also super nice and so we have a copy of Slow Cooker Revolution to give away to a lucky reader. Find out more...
Leave your comment anytime between now and midnight next Tuesday, March 22nd. We will randomly select a winner (with a US address, No P.O. Boxes) and announce next week.
Tell us what you like to make in the slow cooker. For additional entries every day, Stumble, Tweet and Facebook "Like" this giveaway. Leave an extra comment for each.
And in case you are wondering, I rock the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go and Jaime has "Some crap one with two settings 'really hot' and 'really f*ing hot'" Ha, nice. Now I know what to get Jaime for Mother's Day.

i loove to make spicy dishes in my slow cooker
Pulled pork in the crock pot is my new favorite. My toddler loves it too.
Thanks for the great giveaway! I have a crock pot that I've only used for one thing. Pinto beans a la my grandmother's recipe. I would love to learn more recipes so I could use it more often. :)
Pulled pork for us too! It's soo good and easy!
I love crock pot beans!
definitely chili! our friend hosts a chili cookoff every year, and there will be 15-20 crock pots crowding his dining room table (with extension cords and surge protectors winding in between). One year I know we are going to blow a fuse!
pulled pork and chicken enchiladas. That's all I make I don't like my crock pot but maybe if I had this book I could utilize it more.
I LOVE my crockpot!!! My two favorites to make it in are bbque pulled pork and chicken chili. YUM!

I have always like the crock pot idea, but I am only inspired by cookbooks with pictures. (Ha! Now you know my weakness!)I haven't come across any crock pot cookbooks with pictures before, and most have had crazy organization which is not easy to sift through. I am really excited that you have shared this book...I would love to win it!
My favorite thing to make in the slow cooker is apple butter. Makes the entire house smell delish!
Chili!
We also make pulled pork in the crockpot, and usually make sandwhiches out of it but recently I added taco seasoning and made it taste like barbacoa and made tacos. It was really great! I would love this cookbook, because 1. I love ATK and 2. because I would like to the crock pot more but never know where to find a good recipe. This would solve my problem for sure!
i love making bbq pulled pork, lasagna, and chilli!
I love to make pork roast in our slow cooker! It's the best.
I love dips. The flavors get super concentrated. Nom nom nom.
I totally "liked" this giveaway. On Facebook. Yeah.
Broccoli & 3 Cheese soup is one of my favorite dishes to make in my crockpot. This cookbook sounds great, I'm always looking for new things to make in my crockpot (other than the standard pulled pork, soups, stews, etc) so I'd love to see what new ideas ATK comes up with!
mmm...ATK & slow cooker...can't think of a better combination...pick me, pick me!
:)

I tweeted about this giveaway!
bbq pulled chicken!
Oatmeal!
Lasagna! I love it, and in a crock-pot is even better!!!
My husband is not a big fan of the crockpot, so I don't use it much. But I know that would all change if I actually had some good recipes to cook in it! I do like to make big batches of vegetarian chili in it though. :)
LOVE my crock pot! My little guys love pork roast in the pot, delicious! But I also love our chili....Mmmm! And then there's our slow cooked spaghetti sauce in the pot...all day torture, but SO worth it!
I tweeted the giveaway!
I 'liked' this giveaway too!
So far I just make beef stew. I think I need more options!
My mom's bean soup!
Oatmeal!
To tell you the truth, I mostly use the crockpot to keep things warm, like cider or chili. Only on rare occasions do I make an actual dinner in the crockpot 'cause so much of it turns into just mushy stuff. And I seriously dislike any recipe that has "cream of this or that" soup. Sorry to sound so snobby... but I would DEF buy an ATK crockpot cookbook because they always do things the "right" way! I believe ATK could make a crockpot convert of me...
Oh, but I DO make corned beef on St. Patty's Day every year... and I use the crockpot to get it nice and tender! So, yeah... I use it.
I LOVE America's Test Kitchen! I have also been into the slow cooker lately. My favorite is a slow-cooked potato gratin with poblano chilies. Yum!
I love to make brisket in my slow cooker. So yummy!
The only thing that has turned out well in my slow cooker is BBQ - pulled pork and barbecue chicken were both very tasty. The lemon fish I tried? Not so much.
I LOVE my slow cooker. My new favorite is cheesy chicken macaroni. Mmmmmmm. :)
I "liked" the giveaway on fb too!
Beef stew!
I love to make ribs in the slow cooker--so easy and so tasty!
That's picture of Japanese ramen looks soooo good! I would love to try that!
Anything. Really...anything. As long as I can come home from the office, get extra wife points for having dinner ready (and tasty!) and eat it...anything. :)
Jaime, I think we have the same crock pot. Mines the "Original CrockPot" with the timer feature and Low (aka:HOT) High (aka Really ***ing HOT" and Warm (aka: Low).
But one dish that always comes out great is my Vegetable Beef Stew...mmmmmMMMMM!
Taco meat :)
My husband and I make overnight steel cut oats in our mini crock-pot. Very simple and breakfast is ready for us in the morning. Very important as a working full-time + new mom.
i just have never loved anything that came from my cooker. but i'm a big ATK fan (Best recipes is my cooking Bible). would love to try their recipes.
Black Beans! Definitely could use some new recipes to add to it!
BBQ Chicken!
liked it on facebook!
love making a simple chili in the crockpot
I love soups, but lasagna's a good one too!
Pulled pork in my big crockpot while black beans are going in the tiny one. yumm
I've got an amazing crockpot recipe for peppersteak. It's so good we make a double batch every time so we'll have a couple days worth of leftovers!
I'm a cream of mushroom chicken expert. That's what my crockpot usually makes. Sometimes I do a good pork roast.
What don't I make in my crockpot... It's a working mom's go-to kitchen tool! Some of my fam's favs are Cuban black bean soup, spicy beef and beans for tacos, thai peanut chicken, and of course, chili. We eat chili from the crockpot at least once a week in the winter months!
Since I'm in my first trimester and almost every smell associated with cooking makes me sick, the slow cooker has become my new best friend! My favorite has been BBQ pulled pork.
I make a lot of roasts, beef and pork, and then use the leftovers to make pulled sandwiches, or soups...
Growing up my family had 4 crockpots(all were wedding gifts to my parents) and we still use them all to this day.
I love to make pot roast in my crockpot.
Chili, pulled pork and lasagna are my faves...what would I do without my slow cooker?!!
I love a good old fashion roast in the crock pot! YUMMMM
Italian beef that then gets repurposed into at least one more meal later in the week. but I never win anything, so I'll just make plans to buy this one! :)
I really don't like making much in my slow cooker, but always wish that I could use it more. I am slightly obsessed with ATK, so I think this may be just the push I need. Yum!
Love America's Test Kitchen! And my family love shredded pork for tacos - Pork and salsa in the slower cooker all day. Couldn't be easier!
I recieved a crockpot when I got married (in July 09!) and have yet to use it =P I haven't found a recipe I'd like to make... but his book looks like it would be right up my alley! Lasagna? I make that all the time! Would love to put the behemoth thing to use! =)
so many things, but my favorite is white chicken chili. or maybe french dip? yum.
my favorite is a barbacoa pulled pork recipe which uses coca-cola, pace picante salsa, and brown sugar. it's absolutely divine!
I have always wanted to make a cake in a slow cooker! I know you can do desserts but I have never had the guts to try!
I love using my crockpot! I make Beef Stew the most, I love it and the rest of the fam will always eat it.
I don't make anything because most of the recipes I find don't sound very good. Would love to win this book- I am sure it is filled with delicious ideas!! Thanks for the chance.
I once found a crock pot lasagna recipe on line and it is the one I make most often. I am with you that I don't really enjoy the "cream of mushroom" type crock pot cookbooks. I'm a huge fan of ATK so this sounds perfect!
i always want to make stuff in my crock pot, i just never know what to make! thanks!
I like to make a lot of soups in my crockpot but I would love to get better at making other dishes in it. Like that lasagna!
i make roast with veggies.... and at christmas i make wassail, but this book would widen my horizons immeasurably!! <3
Hmmm... I love the crock pot but don't use it nearly often enough. I could use a little, um, refresh of the recipe ideas... as for now, we just make pulled pork.
i soooo want me some good slow cooker recipes. whenever i ask people for them they give me the nasty tuna casserole ones and I think to myself, didn't I say I wanted a good recipe? please pick me random selector!
I love my crock pot, but have yet to venture past chili and soup. I need some fresh ideas!
i love throwing in frozen chicken and some kind of salad dressing. later i figure out what to do with it... chix salad, soup, chili, tacos or topping for baked potato. i sure could use more ideas that are EASY.
I love to make chicken tacos.
baked beans, stews, pot roasts, oh I love that thing with all of my its-too-hot-in-the-summer-to-cook heart.
italian chicken! so yummy!
Mmm...ribs! Those are so good in the slow cooker!!
I love my husbands chicken in the crock pot. His secret is french onion soup from Outback.
**sorry if this posted twice**
I like chicken paprikish (http://www.food.com/recipe/chicken-paprikash-23169) and to just make something in the morning when I have time and let it keep warm until supper. Thanks for the giveaway - I LOVE the test kitchen and would love to try some more of their recipes. (I just tried their Mexican rice recipe this weekend - it is amazing!)
My family's favorite is a chicken tortilla soup, so hearty and tasty!
Chili (with homemade cinnamon rolls from the oven).
Chili is my standard but I'm always looking for new recipes for the crock pot.
I love using the slow cooker but I only know how to make one thing--chicken soup! I would really enjoy learning to make anything else. Thanks for the giveaway!
I love to make chicken noodle soup, and BROWNIES! mmmm
My children are getting older and busier by the day! We seem to always have something to do - this would SURE simplify some of supper battles! PULEASE bring peace to my dinner table and give me this book!!!!
liked AND commented of FB.
BBQ pulled pork sandwiches are my slow-cooker go-to!
chili!
hey, mine only has 3 settings :(
I cook whole chickens. Once it's cooled down the meat can be shredded super easy. Makes great meat for enchiladas, soup, chicken salad. Leave the broth and add the bones with some veggies, homemade stock for the freezer!!
I "liked" the giveaway :-)
I make a great pulled turkey sandwich that is pretty damn close to the Turkey-To-Go sandwich at the Great Minnesota Get Together. (aka the MN State Fair)
I could use some serious help in this department - I continue to hear how wonderful slow cookers are - and - I have one but, the only thing I actually know how to make in it is bbq meatballs - sure would be nice to have some recipes! :-)
How timely...I just pulled out our crockpot in preparation for our St. Patrick's Day corned beef extravaganza. I'm totally stuck in a crockpot rut & could really use this book!!! Thanks for drawing it to my attention...

I have a slow cooker but I only make pot roast. I bet my husband would love some variety!!
I don't use the slow cooker nearly as much as I could/should, but I do really like the chicken enchilada (filling) I make in mine.
We do lots of soups and stews in our crock pot, and pulled pork is always good too. I am so so so psyched that ATK has a slow cooker book! Their Healthy Family Cookbook and Family Baking Book are my bibles, and I was just wondering the other day why they had no slow cooker recipes. Now I know--hooray!
creamy italian chicken :) oh, and shredded BBQ chicken :)
I love to make Italian Beef in the slow cooker, chili, taco soup and pulled BBQ. :)
Pulled pork, pot roast (which later turns into shredded beef for tacos, etc.) chili, enchiladas, bean dishes....and one of the best things about it is that it makes your house smell so good all day (which makes me HUNGRY all day, I guess that's not so good!). :)
ecisley(at)comcast(dot)net
I normally use mine for chicken, chili, or meat loaf. I REALLY need some new ideas!
Mine and my husbands favorite dish is Taco Soup in the slow cooker: Brown Grn turkey, add to crock pot with 1 can rotel, 1 can corn, 1 can black beans, 1 packet of taco seasoning and 1 packet of ranch dressing mix. Cook all day on low and add some cheese to your bowl befor gobblin it all up!!
Pot roast mmm mmm! So good in th crock pot.
I heard you can make chocolate cake in the crock-pot. Do you hear me? CHOCOLATE cake. I don't have the recipe.....wonder if it's in the book?!?!?! =)
MMMM...I would love this book. My husband hates almost everything that has come out of the crock pot and it would be really nice to have some new fresh tested recipes to show him that the crock pot is a GOOD thing!
I love making roast or soups or chilli, but that is the extent of my repertoire.
My fave slow cooker recipe is beef and chipotle burritos. Yummy. I would definately put this cookbook to good use!
I would like to make Pho in the slow cooker. I use it 2-3 times per week so this would be divine!
And I liked this on Facebook!
I love to make beans
I love to make sour kraut and kielbasa!!! Its our family favorite!!
Wow that is a lot of comments! I think there are a lot of mommas you love their slow cookers! I like my pot roast in my slow cooker! Boring, I know, that's why I need this recipe book!
I love pulled pork and chicken soups, but I am really in a rut and would love some new inspiration!
I made a great pulled pork for tacos for my daughter's birthday party. Love the fact that I can just throw stuff in it and walk away.
I wonder if I could squint hard enough to read that Japanese Pork and Noodles recipe. It looks so good! I love to make corned beef in my crock pot. It's always a hit.
OMG I must have this book! I'm always on the look out for crockpot recipes & it's from America's Test Kitchen! :)
BBQ pulled pork sandwiches - my husband's fav!
I like to cook roast or stew in the crockpot, but definitely need new ideas! Everyone in my family will thank you for them!
i make a mean pot roast in the slow cooker!
I love making Indian food in my crockpot.
I love slow cookers for chicken dishes. Because chicken is that one meat product that can be so sensitive to the time it's out and when it's cooked, I like leaving it in the slow cooker for tacos or burritos later. That way the chicken it cooked through, it's safe and it falls apart easily. Love chicken with corn and salsa, a little brown sugar and dijon mustard.
Sticking to my roots..chicken adobo! Yum!
i love to make pork for pulled pork sandwiches! it's the best!
Usually it's pulled pork. I'm actually using the crockpot right now, making some sort of taco soup. This book sounds awesome!!!!
BBQ pulled pork, mac n cheese, and lasagna are my crock-pot faves!
I love to make buffalo chicken sandwiches in my slow cooker. It is ridiculously easy...just put 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts and 3/4 of a 17 oz bottle of buffalo sauce in the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-7 hours. Then shred with a fork, add 2 tbsp butter and you are done! Just put it on a hoagie bun with provolone... Or add it to a quesadilla, YUM! :)
Mmm, I didn't know ATK wrote a slow cooker book! I must get it (if I don't win it! :)
My favorite thing to make is pulled pork. (Season pork shoulder with salt, pepper, garlic. Place in crockpot. Add bottle of root beer. Cook for 9 hours or so on low. Add in Sweet baby rays BBQ sauce)
I have been dying to find new slow cooker recipes! I am in desperate need of some slow cooker relief so this could not be more perfectly timed.
My favorites are BBQ pulled pork or chicken, mac and cheese, beef stew, and seafood stew. Always on the look out for new recipes so this book looks great!!
I grew up in a crock-pot household and continued on the tradition with my family. Do you have a Little Dipper? It's great for warm dips like Pumpkin Pie Dip. 1 can pumpkin pie mix, 4 oz. cream cheese, 1/4 cup sour cream. Layer and cook for an hour. Serve with apples, pears or pretzels. It's heavenly!
My favorite is chicken tortilla soup (adapted from a non-crock-pot Cook's Illustrated tortilla soup recipe!).
I have a slowcooker - that I hardly use since I don't know what to make in it other than roasts!
I definitely need more recipes. I'm stuck between bbq pork roast and mexican tortilla soup.
I love filling the slow cooker in the morning and smells that fill the house rest of the day. Slow cooker is definitely my friend!
I like this giveaway in general, but I liked it on facebook, too.
Orginially from the midwest, having a slowcooker is like having an oven. You just HAVE one. I like to dump in some chicken breasts and add a bottle of taco sauce. Cook on low for 8 hours. Instant taco bar!
Beef Pepperoncini. A roast and a half a jar of pepperoncini peppers. On a roll with provolone- yum!
It's the only way I can cook a roast! Slow cookers are a must have for this momma! Thanks for the opportunity to "cook" for my family more often ( ;
Split pea soup!
Definitely chicken. I'd love the book, because like you, I have to wade through the cream of mushroom soup recipes and I'd like a change. :)
So far I have only been using my slow cooker to cook dried beans, but I'd love some great dinner recipes!
I have been coveting this book on Amazon.com. I love my crockpot. It is such a big help since I have two little ones who need my attention during the day. Oh and I like to do chicken with cream of mushroom soup. :)
pot roast and chicken chili...boy do I need some new updated and delicious recipes for my crockpot!
chipotle chicken and rice, yum!
My crock pot gets used once a year - corned beef & cabbage for St. Patty's Day! I'd LOVE some new options, lol.
Yes, I need this!! I only have maybe 3 good slow cooker recipes. I think my favorite is wild rice and chicken (with mushroom soup of course, how original)
I liked this giveaway on Facebook!
I liked this giveaway on my FB page.
I love to make chicken and beef roasts in the crock pot. I saw this book on the Today show. If I don't win, I'll definitely be purchasing. I agree, it's hard to find good recipes amongst the garbage that's out there.
I really like to make shredded turkey sandwiches in the slow cooker. I have had this cookbook on my "to buy" list!
My go-to with the crock pot is beef pot roast. I recently discovered a better way to make it (Worcestershire sauce and beef stock in place of water and instead of regular onion soup, beefy onion soup mix) -- oh, and locally grown beef butchered at our local "locker". Best I've ever made! Thanks for a great giveaway. I'd love to have some more crock recipes! You guys are the best!
I also liked Prudent Baby on my Facebook page
I want to make an amazing chili that will impress my husband!!

I prefer the crock pot to cook soups...zuppa tuscana is one of my favorites!
My favorite crock pot recipes are lasagnas and stews!
I only know how to make ribs!
I'd love to learn more.
Thanks!
I love the crockpot; I just used it Sunday for a party I made a spiral ham in it and also made terriaki chicken. YUM!!
I tweeted about your giveaway.
I "liked" your giveaway on FB.
I love to make chile in my crock pot!
Shredded beef... that's all I know how to make so this book would be extra cool.
Oh, hell yes. I am so buying this cookbook. I have a new fave, chicken taco soup slow cooking away as I type.
Perfect timing! I'm looking for more crock pot recipes. We like to make salsa chicken, mexican pork, and cheater swedish meatballs in the crock pot. Oh yeah and soups.
Anything beefy. I love the slow-cooked, tender yumminess of beef stroganoff, stew, taco meat. I covet this cookbook; I am, too, anti-cream of mushroom/chicken/celery/processed yuck!
I mostly use my crockpot to make stocks. I love it because my family gets tons of nutrients and I do very little work.
I love my slowcooker!!! One of my favorite recipes is Chicken Italiano!
Sadly, I only use the crock pot for pulled pork. With as busy as we are we could use more recipes for it!
I like to cook and shred chicken, I really like pulled pork, I like to make soups and roasts and ribs. I love the convenience of a crockpot, and would love more recipes for mine
We inherited a great slow cooker and have never used it. This book would be fantastic!
I'd love to find a good chicken recipe. I just love all of ATK's recipes.
We like to make pulled chicken tacos! They are low-cal and super yummy. Its two chicken breasts, half a jar of salsa and a can of black beans. Try it. You'll LOVE it!
I like to make this, and it is AMAZING: http://smittenkitchen.com/2010/01/southwestern-pulled-brisket/
I love making roasts and pork tenderloin (leftovers used for pulled pork). Right now there is a chicken stroganoff cooking for tonight.
When I know I'm going to be working late, my slow-cooker saves both my husband and I from ending up in a fast-food drive thru! I'm going to buy this book! Ya know...if I don't win it.... ;) Thanks for the opportunity!
OMG, what DON'T I like to make in my slow cooker...I have an addiction to that thing. It makes me look like such a rockstar when I have this awesome dinner made and the house smells divine and all I had to do was throw a bunch of ingredients into a pot in the morning and turn it on!
My faves are beef stew, lasagna (you don't even have to cook the noodles first!), chicken cacciatore. Yummm!!!!! I hope I win!
The only things I like to make in my slow cooker are the recipes out of ATK's make ahead cookbook so I. MUST. HAVE. THIS. ONE!!! I especially need it because I just had my first baby. Holy moly!!
Taco pork stew, chili, soups, roast, pulled pork, beef stew... I love my crockpot!
little smokies are always a favorite of mine!
My mom has the best pulled pork recipe, so I like to cook that. I'm also a fan of all kinds of soups in there. Thanks for the giveaway, hope I win!
Revolution!
This is barely a recipe but I put chicken (frozen is fine), a can of black beans, and a jar of salsa. At the end add some corn. A friend of mine adds a block of cream cheese but I save the calories.
Chicken and noodles either as soup or thicker and perfect with mashed potatoes.
But I do love a good beef stew.
And I have made apple butter in mine too.*
*FYI: A little cloves go a looooong way. A lot of cloves ruin your apple butter.
I have an excellent chicken curry recipe for the crock pot. Whip up some rice in the handy rice cooker (which I never thought was a good idea until we got one), and we're ready to impress!
Liked it on FB!
I love making soups in my crockpot.
Chili is about the only thing so far. Just had our first baby and getting ready to go back to work. This book would be a big help with meals!
Liked it on facebook :)
I need this book, as I don't have many slow cooker recipes. I pretty much just make BBQ chicken in mine.
Oooh, so exciting! I love to make chicken stock in mine, so I can let it simmer for hours without having to babysit it.
We cook oat groats overnight so they're ready and waiting for breakfast. Beef stew in the slow cooker has to be my favorite though.
Pulled pork! It makes great leftovers too.
I use my crock for chili, but not much else. I've got cookbooks for it but you're right it's so much work finding something that I want to make for my picky bunch. And I got my crock after baby #2, wasn't sure when I'd ever be able to make a stove-top meal again, luckily I got the hang of it in no time! Thanks ladies!
I love to make pot roasts and pulled pork.
amandarwest atgmaildotcom
We don't use our crock pot much, but we have made an italian chicken and my personal favorite- hot chocolate! Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to use the crock pot every single day! :)
This would be awesome to win!! My poor crock pot is 2 yrs old and has only been used a handful of times. I think it's feeling neglected. :(
My husband is half-Cuban and we make a Cuban dish called "ropa vieja." Literally translated means dirty clothes. Anyways, it's flank steak, some seasoning and sofrito. Add black beans and rice and you've got dinner!
