GIVEAWAY: Slow Cooker Revolution
Since becoming moms both Jaime and I have become crock-pot enthusiasts. We've both found some amazing recipes, but you do have to sift through the tuna casseroles and cream of mushroom chickens (not that there's anything wrong with that) to find the treasures. So imagine our jump-for-joy, sing-from-the-mountain-top, dance-in-the-rain euphoria when Slow Cooker Revolution from the Editors at America's Test Kitchen arrived on our doorstep. CROCK-POT + ATK = YES PLEASE. And is that lasagna on the cover? Wait, what? Lasagna in the slow cooker? Tell us more. So you're thinking... good for you, you have a new cookbook, but what's in it for me? Well not only are the folks at ATK culinary geniuses but they also super nice and so we have a copy of Slow Cooker Revolution to give away to a lucky reader. Find out more...
Leave your comment anytime between now and midnight next Tuesday, March 22nd. We will randomly select a winner (with a US address, No P.O. Boxes) and announce next week.
Tell us what you like to make in the slow cooker. For additional entries every day, Stumble, Tweet and Facebook "Like" this giveaway. Leave an extra comment for each.
And in case you are wondering, I rock the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go and Jaime has "Some crap one with two settings 'really hot' and 'really f*ing hot'" Ha, nice. Now I know what to get Jaime for Mother's Day.

Even though I am a vegetarian, I always make shredded chicken tacos in my crock pot for my hubby and boys!
pulled pork tacos! yum...
so far not very adventurous - just chili but would love to do more!
Ohhh, I love my slow cooker! I make a mean Mexican Chicken Soup!
Bree
bdoody11atyahoodotcom
I like making pulled pork in mine - which seems to be a fan favorite here. I guess we all need a copy so we can learn what else to make in a crock pot! :)
Pot roast, enchilada casserole, beans, chicken for the freezer.
I make pot roast the most in the crock pot but love to find new recipes to try.
sassysarahl@hotmail.com
I have several chicken recipes we like in the slow cooker. The chicken is always so moist! Oooo - and Beef Stroganoff! Yum~
when i moved to Chicago, I learned to make Italian Beef in my crock pot. Deeelicious!
Sweet Fancy Moses! ATK and Slowcookers!?! SO EXCITED!
TWEET TWEET TWEETed the giveaway!
Pot roast and pulled pork/pork shoulder here, too. Of course sweet potatoes with both!
LIKED! on FB - because I really like it
Easiest thing to cook in the crockpot is chili, but my favorite thing to cook is pot roast, it smells SO yummy while it's cooking!!
I mostly just make chicken and pot roast in my slow cooker, but I would love to do more...
I love to make mac n cheese, and soups in the crock pot. Would love some new recipes!
Thanks for the chance!
Vanessa
Tonight I made beef stew. It was amazing.
Ooooh, the slow cooker. How I love the slow cooker. I love making roasts that I can shred and mix with sauces, YUM. The best was a Chicago-style Italian Beef sandwich meat recipe, so yummy!
Bbq pork cooked in beer! Yum!
Ahahaha!!! I love Jamie's 2 settings! I'm afraid I love my crockpot but am a "cream of mushroom chicken" person with it. Only because that's really all I know. If I could win this cookbook though....
I love making chicken soup in the crock pot.
I liked this giveaway!!
My Favorite thing to make is chili but I also love southern style chicken rice with cornbread on top
apple cider!!
Love Chicken Taco Soup, so easy to add an extra can of beans to stretch the recipe... but the ATK cookbook would be fabulous! I would love to crack open the dessert section!
My favorite things to make in the crockpot are Italian Chicken Alfredo which my whole family begs for and lasagna. They are so versatile and makes for carefree days. I actually have 5 crockpots and can't bear to part with any of them!
beef stew, pulled pork, and pot roast are my best slow-cooker recipes. i'd love to expand my options with a new cookbook. :)
Pulled pork!
Enchilada soup!
I have a friend who has a blog of awesome recipes - one of which is a crock pot chicken recipe that results in some of the juiciest, shreddable chicken for enchiladas or tacos that you've EVER TASTED! Yum! I'd love to learn some new recipes for the crock pot so I really hope I win! Thanks for the opportunity!
Hugs, Christine aka The Stampin' Ninja
Love to make chicken with taco/fajitas seasoning and then shred it for tacos and burritos (and quesadillas)
We just normally make stews or pot roast, nothing too exciting, so this cookbook would be awesome. Lasagna? I MUST KNOW HOW.
Love to make pot roasts and then use the leftovers for days!
Potato Soup, Pulled Pork & Pot Roasts are my favorites. I would love to have this book! :D
vingirl (at) gmail.com
yum! the only thing i make in my slow cooker are beans, but i was talking to my friend who uses hers 3 times a week! I have to step up my game.
My favorite crock pot recipe is to make a large roast - day one have it with potatoes, day two have BBQ sandwiches, and day three if it big enough make it into tacos.
My mom taught me how to do brisket in the slow cooker - SOOOO GOOD!!! IT reminds me so much of my childhood :)
We live in So Cal, and hate to turn on the oven during the summer. We put just about anything we can in the slow cooker. Lasagna, homemade mac and cheese, enchiladas. Of course this book would be AWESOME!
I also rock the Hamilton stay and go... And I would love to be able to make veggie filled dinners so that when we come home we have something healthy and yummy waiting.... and just maybe having my daughter throw all the veggies into the pot will make her want to eat them.
I have had a crockpot for ages, but sadly, hardly ever get it out because I only have a couple suitable recipes. This year with an infant at home has seriously decimated my time for cooking - this book would be a HUGE help!
I'm a crock pot whore - I make everything in it!! Tacos (sans the shell), stews, cakes (yes, I did say cake!), pot roast, ribs - I could go on and on! But I would love this book to see if I can find something new to make - and who doesn't love ATK??
Stroganoff!! 1.5# of stew meat (or whatever you like), 1 can each of cream of chicken, cream of celery and cream of mushroom. On low for 8 hours. Add a cup or so of sour cream at the end and you're done! Serve over noodles (or mashed potatoes). Fave.
I love ATK!!! My favorite thing to make in the crock pot is pulled pork...yum!
oooh yum! my favorite crock pot recipe is spanish style roast pork! take 1 pork roast (bone in or not) cover the outside in green adobo seasoning, and add a cup of Mojo Criollo marinade. cook 4-6 hours on low or 6-8 on high. its so friggan good.
Thanks for the great giveaway! We love making roasts and chowders in our crock pot. Would love to have some more yummy crock pot recipes, especially the lasagna on the cover - it looks DELICIOUS!!!
Oh I love my crock pot and I have so been on the look for amazing recipes!
Uninspired as it may be, mine mostly gets used for chili and other hearty soups when my husband has his buddies over to play board games on weekends. That looks like a great book. Hope I win!
Chicken tacos are our favorite!
I like to make soup in my slow cooker. I'd love to learn new recipes from this cookbook!!
I love crock pot sloppy joe's or pulled pork! LOVE America's Test Kitchen anything, too!
steel cut oatmeal for breakfast and brisket for dinner. next on my list is ribs.
I love to cook a whole chicken in my crockpot, then shred the meat for salads, tacos, bbq sandwiches, and because it is so tender, it makes for great toddler finger food!
Then I take it a step further... after removing the skin and meat from the chicken, I put the carcass back in the crock pot, add a chopped carrot and celery stalk, a chopped onion or half if I have one, plus two quarts of water. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, and I have PERFECT chicken stock! The only thing I didn't use from that bird was the feathers!
I've done pot roast and chicken both with potatoes and carrots. The meat and veggies turn out fine but I always end up needing to thicken the sauce at the end and it's always kind of bland. I love ATK! I'm sure this cookbook is fabulous!
I "Liked" the article on Facebook!
I love making pot roast with potatoes and carrots!! The crock pot is a real time saver.
I love to make just about anything in the crockpot! Lately it's been Spicy INdian tandoori chicken with potatoes and carrots! I swear, I don't know what I would do with out my crockpot!!!
I liked on FB!!!
I adore my crockpot. My favorite recipe is an unusual stew: kielbasa, cabbage, apple, an saurkraut. It sounds bizarre, but the flavor is AMAZING - sweet and sour all at once!
We love to make all kinds of soups and casseroles - but our favorite is an old English recipe for thick and comforting red lentil soup with veggies and bacon!
Red beans with Turkey sausage to serve with rice!! Yum!
As a new mom who also works full time outside the home I LOVE my slow cooker so this would be awesome to win! I make pot roasts mainly in mine now.
I tend to make vegetable soups or chilis in my slow cooler, but I'm ready to branch out.
I would love to make soup = any kind = just so it is soup!
I like to make vegetarian chile! Yummy!! Then eat that in a bread bowl with some sour cream and cheese on top!
Oh my!!! I seriously need this book! Two years ago at my wedding i got TWO crockpots....pretty sure they were both "re-gifts" as there were no receipts included and they were NOT on my registry. haha. HELP ME FINALLY USE MY CROCKPOTS!!...even both at once would be fun :)
I would just love to make some mac and cheese in a slow cooker!!!!! I am a very busy grandma to a sweet 18 month old. (I help my daughter LOTS with her!) But, I also work full time. Would love to have some great recipes to throw together in the morning before I am off to work. Little chloe would be very happy at supper time!

I would love to learn to make anything new for our family gatherings. Everyone can eat at their leisure when the food is always warm. I do use my crock-pot at Christmas for making my late Aunt's Peanut Clusters...Mmmm!
Right now all I know how to make are soups in my crock pot. I would love to learn more recipes though. As a busy mother of 3 under 3 years old, the crockpot is my dinner-time life-saver!
I love making roast and cheesy potato soup in my Crock Pot. I wish I knew more about using it without a recipe to make up my own stuff!
laurelah90@gmail.com
Hmm stew or pulled pork for sure.
Wow, I love ATK and would love the recipe for lasagna!
I like this on FB!
Calico beans!!
I tweeted about this! @kristinsalvia
I'm always on the lookout for new slow cooker recipes! I make pulled pork most of the time, but that's getting a bit boring. Thanks for the giveaway!
I love to make margarita chicken in the slow cooker.

I love ATK so much I want to marry it. I also love making chipotle pulled pork. Or beef. Yum.
LOL we just had my son's 5th bday this past weekend and I had a row of crock-pots along my counter! It was like a crock-pot parade! I love making clam chowder in them! Or any soup. Or mushroom chicken and rice that is awesome! I love America's Test Kitchen and crock-pots so I REALLY REALLY hope I win this!!! <3 Thanks for the chance! Oh and I am obsessed with cook books so this is like a contest made for me! LOL Thanks again!
I LOVE ATK! What a great combo. We make a fantastic pulled pork taco recipe in our slow cooker.
I *love* finding new recipes for my crockpot (er, I mean "slow cooker"....I'm not sure what brand mine is, but I don't think it's Hamilton Beach or whatever.)
My family's favorite crockpot recipe is Chicken Stroganoff.
Chicken and dumplings!! Yummy comfort food.
I only make roasts in the crock pot. would LOVE to make lasagna!
I am a long time working mom who uses her crock pot weekly at least. For a really good inexpensive meal try turkey legs with your choice of spices/herbs cooked all day - fall off the bone tender. BBQ ribs - cook ribs all day, remove from crock, slather with BBQ and broil for 5-10 min. Any soup, any roast. I have found the secret is not to use too much liquid. Frozen meat is great without liquid - juices form during cooking. Now I am sure ATK would teach me the better way to use my crock pot - but need a new one since the little rubber legs have melted away on mine! Are you going to include a crock pot as part of the give away??? :)
Oh great. Now I'm hungry again. I only have a couple of recipes that work in a crock pot - Goulash, Chili, and some kind of southwest turkey chili. Please give me this book. I need that lasagna.

My very favorite thing to make in my slow cooker is vegetarian lasagna. People usually cringe when I tell them what I'm making for their visit, but when they ask for seconds and thirds, I slam their prior cringe with my stone cold fists of glory.
I've been the crock pot queen lately after my daughter was born 10 weeks ago! I'm usually surfing the web finding recipes...so I would LOVE this book to have a one stop place for new recipes. Oh my gosh, we use our slow cooker as much as 5 times a week. We are a commuter family and i don't like to sacrifice my family's health over fast food. Not only do we get home cooked meals every day, we don't have to wait for more time to prepare it, we just drive in the garage, wash up, set the table and have a good meal and good time going over our days with the family. Thank God for slow cookers!!!!!
I just tweeted it on my twitter account @alexismae so i didn't really read through the instructions cuz i was so excited to see a slow cooker prize, so what we love to make are bbq short ribs in our cooker =)

I LOVE this site. I have 2 boys - 4 and 2. I made my 2 yr old son a bow tie for my brother's wedding last weekend based on your step by step instructions! It turned out perfect! Now you hit me with a Slow Cooker recipe book the day after I just planted a bunch of new veggies and fruits. I need ideas! I am trying to get our family eating healthier than sandwiches and chips all the time. Slow Cooker is my easiest way. I have a full time job and rarely have time to make a nice meal during the week. If nothing else, thanks for the mention of the book. I love cookbooks with lots of pictures to see if it will look pleasing to my boys (and me) when it is done! Thanks for posting!!!
I usually only use mine for pork or beef for pulled meat suppers, tacos and BBQ. But a test kitchen cookbook on the other hand... Yum.

I have a few that I like, particularly a creamy chicken chowder that's great for winter nights! And I also have a turkey sausage tortellini stew that's mind-numbingly easy to make. When September comes around and I go back to teaching, the crock pot comes out with a vengeance!
I usually make pulled pork or chili, but would love to try some other recipes so I can use my slow cooker more.

Chicken tortilla soup is our fave!!!! Top with avacado, tortilla strips and cheese! Yum!
We also cheat a chicken parmigan by placing chicken breasts in tomato sauce and cooking for four hours. Turn the CP to warm and cook spagetti. Top chicken with Italian cheeses and let it melt while the pasta cooks...Perfect Italian yumminess without the effort.
I don't use mine too much, but I want to. There are too many bad recipes out there for crocks so I've had a hard time finding ones that I really like. Would love to have this to find some keepers!
Shredded BBQ Chicken for sandwiches...simple and yummy!
My crock pot favorites are chicken curry, BBQ, and apple-pear crisp. Yum!
