GIVEAWAY: Slow Cooker Revolution

Since becoming moms both Jaime and I have become crock-pot enthusiasts. We've both found some amazing recipes, but you do have to sift through the tuna casseroles and cream of mushroom chickens (not that there's anything wrong with that) to find the treasures. So imagine our jump-for-joy, sing-from-the-mountain-top, dance-in-the-rain euphoria when Slow Cooker Revolution from the Editors at America's Test Kitchen arrived on our doorstep. CROCK-POT + ATK = YES PLEASE. And is that lasagna on the cover? Wait, what? Lasagna in the slow cooker? Tell us more. So you're thinking... good for you, you have a new cookbook, but what's in it for me? Well not only are the folks at ATK culinary geniuses but they also super nice and so we have a copy of Slow Cooker Revolution to give away to a lucky reader. Find out more...

Leave your comment anytime between now and midnight next Tuesday, March 22nd. We will randomly select a winner (with a US address, No P.O. Boxes) and announce next week.

Tell us what you like to make in the slow cooker. For additional entries every day, Stumble, Tweet and Facebook "Like" this giveaway. Leave an extra comment for each.

And in case you are wondering, I rock the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go and Jaime has "Some crap one with two settings 'really hot' and 'really f*ing hot'" Ha, nice. Now I know what to get Jaime for Mother's Day.

I love to cook a whole chicken in my crockpot, then shred the meat for salads, tacos, bbq sandwiches, and because it is so tender, it makes for great toddler finger food!

Then I take it a step further... after removing the skin and meat from the chicken, I put the carcass back in the crock pot, add a chopped carrot and celery stalk, a chopped onion or half if I have one, plus two quarts of water. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, and I have PERFECT chicken stock! The only thing I didn't use from that bird was the feathers!

I am a long time working mom who uses her crock pot weekly at least. For a really good inexpensive meal try turkey legs with your choice of spices/herbs cooked all day - fall off the bone tender. BBQ ribs - cook ribs all day, remove from crock, slather with BBQ and broil for 5-10 min. Any soup, any roast. I have found the secret is not to use too much liquid. Frozen meat is great without liquid - juices form during cooking. Now I am sure ATK would teach me the better way to use my crock pot - but need a new one since the little rubber legs have melted away on mine! Are you going to include a crock pot as part of the give away??? :)

i like to make Cincinnati Chili in my crock pot. my husband is from Cincy so, of course, loves that chili and i have come to love it too!! since we don't live in Cincy I make it in the crock pot.

PS - when my friend's husband first moved to the states from Nepal, he thought we were saying "crotch" pot. LOL every time i think of that!

My very favorite thing to make in my slow cooker is vegetarian lasagna. People usually cringe when I tell them what I'm making for their visit, but when they ask for seconds and thirds, I slam their prior cringe with my stone cold fists of glory.

I've been the crock pot queen lately after my daughter was born 10 weeks ago! I'm usually surfing the web finding recipes...so I would LOVE this book to have a one stop place for new recipes. My favorite thing lately is the crock pot enchiladas I made the other day..I've heard you can make desserts too...I can't wait to win this.

Oh my gosh, we use our slow cooker as much as 5 times a week. We are a commuter family and i don't like to sacrifice my family's health over fast food. Not only do we get home cooked meals every day, we don't have to wait for more time to prepare it, we just drive in the garage, wash up, set the table and have a good meal and good time going over our days with the family. Thank God for slow cookers!!!!!

I LOVE this site. I have 2 boys - 4 and 2. I made my 2 yr old son a bow tie for my brother's wedding last weekend based on your step by step instructions! It turned out perfect! Now you hit me with a Slow Cooker recipe book the day after I just planted a bunch of new veggies and fruits. I need ideas! I am trying to get our family eating healthier than sandwiches and chips all the time. Slow Cooker is my easiest way. I have a full time job and rarely have time to make a nice meal during the week. If nothing else, thanks for the mention of the book. I love cookbooks with lots of pictures to see if it will look pleasing to my boys (and me) when it is done! Thanks for posting!!!

Chicken tortilla soup is our fave!!!! Top with avacado, tortilla strips and cheese! Yum!

We also cheat a chicken parmigan by placing chicken breasts in tomato sauce and cooking for four hours. Turn the CP to warm and cook spagetti. Top chicken with Italian cheeses and let it melt while the pasta cooks...Perfect Italian yumminess without the effort.
