FRIDAY {SURPRISE} PRIZE

This week we are giving away a gorgeous giant spool of Kreinik Fashion Twist Machine Sewing Thread in the beautiful sparkly shade of Jade. It's a mint green and silver twist and it's awesome!

This week's winner is from the Free Motion Quilting Tutorial & Video post. Natalie wrote:
On my Bernina 1260 I keep my feed dogs up but use a slider otherwise I have tension issues. I bought my slider from daystyledesigns.com. I purchased it as a set with quilting gloves and bobbin sliders which I also recommend.
Also, the picture showing the darning foot shows the thread on top of the foot but I have to thread mine through the loop and hold with the bobbin thread to avoid it getting caught and knotted underneath.
As far as not crossing stitches, I think it's ok. In my opinion it's an antiquated rule and there are plenty of designs out there that require you to cross stitches. Check out Leah Day's blog for 365 (250 at the moment) free motion quilting designs.
I am so glad that you wrote this post and hope that others try quilting now. I am the founder of my local modern quilt guild which is part of the broader network of modern guilds. Check out themodernquiltguild.com for more information on modern quilting :)

Wow Natalie! You really know your stuff. Thanks for all of the great info.
Go ahead and send us your address using the contact form and we will send you your prize. Winners have 5 days to contact us before forfeiting their prize to another lucky reader.

Find out the next Friday Surprise Prize after the jump...
To kick off February as National Embroidery Month, this week's Friday Surprise Prize is a Sublime Stitching: CAMP OUT Embroidery Pattern. A 8.5x11 sheet of multi-imprinting, iron-on embroidery patterns.

My kids think "vacation" means camping trip. We're lucky enough to live in the Blue Ridge Mountains on NC, so we camp a lot. In fact, we've been known to camp in our camper while its parked in the driveway. I made retro- style camping themed curtains for the camper when we first bought it, and these designs would be the perfect finishing touch, maybe on dish towels and other linens. If you don't pick me, I will be forced to invent my own in order to fulfill my artistic vision for our camper. Help me out here, please!

Eeee! We just bought a travel trailer and I am so excited! Our whole family goes camping all summer and fall long, so this would be so much fun to embroider onto towels or little pillows for them and myself. How cute!!
