Wine rack as yarn storage

All of our talk of getting organized inspired me this weekend. We rearranged and finally moved our empty wine shelves out of the living room. There's nothing sadder than an empty wine shelf. Have no fear, the wine has found a new fancy home. But back to the lonely little shelf that was banished to the craft cave. Ta Da! A pretty rainbow of yarn storage. And more drawer space to boot! Ultimately, the shelves will be moving to a space where there is no direct sunlight. These little shelves would also be perfect for jars of notions and baubles. Now if I could only find a use for all those empty cigarette cartons. I kid, I kid.

Of course, as soon as I finished my happy little display I found another GIANT tub of yarn. I have a vice, y'all and it isn't wine. Must step away from Michaels.

Note: as requested by Alix from Modern Kiddo, here is where you can buy your very own inchworm. Isn't he an adorable blast from the past?

This is pretty genius....and so colorful! I can't knit to save my life, but it's so colorful I feel like I need to have amazing balls of yarn in my living just to make me smile!

As great as this is, however, can we discuss the AMAZING GLOW WORM rider thingy in the corner??? I love that guy!!! Is this vintage? I forget his name...so cute!

That is an incredible idea for space saving! I love it! Maybe I could buy a wine rack an stick my sewing fabrics, felt in the cubby holes and it would double up as cute decor! Seriously, genius!

Another great idea! I have to tell you: I love the way you two write -- casual, funny... ciggarette cartons! You slay me. Although, that could be a funny April 1 post. ;)

Jaime-I'm thinking of filling Rick's Wine "Cellar" with balls of yarn as a nice surprise for him. Do you think he will like it?

I am in love! Not only do I love wine, but I have a ridiculous stash of yarn. I just continue to buy more. My family keeps buying me Michael's gift cards...So I will blame them! I had thought about the hanging shoe rack with the boxes as well. I think it would look really cute and chic to have a nice light colored wooden pole on one wall of a room with those hanging racks going across it and tons of yarn stashed! I wish I could do this right now, but my husband would have a coniption. I have my yarn stashed in Sterilite 3-drawer plastic "dressers" at the moment.

Very cool, it's an awesome idea, so colorful and pretty! Only downfall I see is if you have curious cats, having the yarn that low could be an issue, and messy.
