Dollhouse table

Clare got this amazing dollhouse for Christmas. Not an eyesore, lots of bright fun furniture, pretty easy to assemble, we were impressed. Until now it had been sitting on the landing in our kitchen, which meant that Clare had to lay on the floor to play inside the bottom level. It also meant one more toy in our kitchen area with LOTS of little pieces to be strewn about. I had been looking for the perfect short, square table for it and last night had an idea! I turned two of this type of cube shelf back-to-back on their sides, covered the exposed surface with some green felt and added a "swimming pool" for Ariel (or Marielle, as Clare calls her.)

Now the whole dollhouse drama has been moved to her bedroom. She actually wants to play in her BEDROOM!! At least for the first day. We'll see how it goes.

Quick tip: Add pretty sheets of paper to the inside back of your shelves before assembly for a little pizazz!

ok last one i promise. if you had a jugsaw you could totally but a hole in the top of one of those boxes and put a tupperware in it so it was like a pool-pool!

I wonder who you know that has access to such tools? Assuming she meant jigsaw : ) I think only plastic surgeons have "jugsaws". And now I'm just cracking myself up.

Thanks for the kudos on my little Target-hack!

Clare's cardigan is from littlebeanshop.com, which is run by, oh only one of the masterminds behind smallmagazine.net. There aren't any anchor cardigans for sale right now but I've sent them an email asking if there are some in the works. Ill keep you posted. It really is the best article of clothing I've ever purchased for C. I love it so.

What Jaime? you don't like my rectangle of felt swimming pool? You're so L.A., with your in-ground pool suggestion. HA!

Jacinda, Maybe you could make an above ground pool. Like the one we had in Foster, RI. How big would it have to be to accommodate the whole doll family? I see papermache'in your future:-)!
