DIY Fabric Number & Alphabet Magnets

I had so much fun making these for my daughter and for Jacinda's Miss Clare! To get started you'll need some sticker-backed magnets (the business card size are easiest) from Staples, pinking shears, and some fabric scraps. I used Joel Dewberry Modern Bud in Glacier for the numbers, along with Tossed Flowers in Camel and Raspberry for the letters.

Package your set in a metal tin like these from Container Store and you can pick out the first letter of your giftee's name to stick on top! Tie it with a bow and give it to a girlie as cute as this one...

Jaime said...: Calee- good point, i think it was definitely the scissors! I tried to use an older pair and it was a nightmare until I switched to a newer sharp shear and then it went so quickly. Also I tried it with decor weight fabric and that didn't work, too difficult to cut, had to use a nice thin cotton...; October 1, 2009 at 9:29 PM

Jaime said...: Amber - you actually stick the fabric right onto the sticky side of the sticker-backed magnet, draw your letter (trace or freehand it), then cut it all together! it's so simple, just requires some sharp scissors!; October 2, 2009 at 12:18 PM
