Spearmint Kitchen shares a simple DIY to modernize a fussy ol' set of silverware. I want to do this!

It's getting oh-so-Texas-hot here so flip-flops are on the agenda. Love this tute for Interchangeable Flip-Flop Back Straps for the wee ones.

I think Clare would go nuts for some supervised pin usage (she is obsessed!), making a sweet tissue topiary. So fun and pretty for a party!

I just picked up a copy of this lovely book, Morning Song: Poems for New Parents, for an expectant friend. It combines classic and contemporary poetry with work by Alice Walker, Dylan Thomas, Pablo Neruda and Sylvia Plath among many others. I can imagine her reading this during the late night feedings, which are OVER FOR ME for the moment! Woot!

Thank you so much for linking to my topiary tutorial! You just made my day :)

As for my garden, all the crazy rain we've had around here is starting to pay off. Maybe I'll actually be able to keep it alive this year...

I'm not sure what the hubby is gonna let me do! He'll have to watch all 4 kiddos (under 5 years old!), so probably something local and quick. Heck, I'll take what I can get! :)
thanks for all the links. I bookmarked almost all of them!

I'm thinking cornflake cookies for a mother day park picnic. I thought I'd share the recipe. Its a winner and great for the littlies.

Choc Cornflake Cookies
125 gm butter (chopped and at room temperature)
1/2 cup caster sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup S.R. Flour
1 cup cornflakes
1 1/2 cup extra cornflakes, crushed a bit,  to coat
1/3 cup choc chips
1/3 cup sultanas                                      I use 1 cup of one or the other or a mix of one or two - just as nice without the choc chips
1/3 cup chopped glace cherries      Or if your like me and don't like cherries swap it for dried cranberries.

Preheat oven to moderate (180 degrees) and lightly grease or line a 2 trays with gladbake.
Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla. Beat
Fold in flour and 1 cup cornflakes and the one cup of choc chips (or combination of sultanas, chips and cherries)
Roll tablespoons of the mixture into balls and roll in crushed cornflakes
Place on tray 3 cm apart and bake for 12 - 15 minutes or until golden
Cool on trays

Good cooking.
