THIRD BIRTHDAY FIESTA!

Living in Los Angeles, Mexican food and Mexican culture are things my friend Anna and I adore and wanted to celebrate. Being three-year-old girls, our daughters said that DORA is something they adore and wanted to celebrate. So to honor their request for a Dora party, we threw them a FIESTA!  Despite the drizzly day, the party was a total blast for all involved, with lots of fun details to bring Dora's world to life while honoring her mexican heritage.

Check out lots of fun THIRD BIRTHDAY FIESTA activities, foods, decor, and games after the jump...

NIKO AND SCARLET'S THIRD BIRTHDAY FIESTA!

A sweet dessert table...

with homemade cookies...

packaged up pretty...

and margaritas...

a tower of cupakes with papel picado toppers...

a homemade cake...

and two lovely ladies to blow out the candles...

Papel Picado-themed invites from Sprinkles Invitations...

Colorful tables...

With made-in-mexico tissue paper flowers...

and treat bags...

for the pinata loot...

Four craft stations...

a Petting Zoo...

Personalized ukeleles for the birthday girls...

Cascarones...

Homemade temporary tattoos...

Bacon wrapped hot dogs (an LA street food specialty)...

and a taco cart...

and nachos too...

a bouncy house...

A sort-of-terrifying Dora...

That the girls adored...

A pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey game clearly placed by a non-parent (about 6 feet too high)...

A crowd of margarita-happy parents...

and joyful kids...

And two pretty birthday girls in matching pink dresses...

Ole!

Lovely pictures of a lovely party!! It looks like a wonderful time was had by all! Seeing how much hair Scarlet has is an inspiration to me, as my 19 month old has very little now! Happy Birthday Scarlet!

So adorable! The birthday girls look absolutely fabulous in their matching dresses. Happy birthday to both of them! Oh and my favorite homemade thing were those beautiful guitars. I am in awe of your mad piping skills!

Oh.my.goodness! What a party! Little miss Scarlet is absolutely gorgeous... the picture of her looking at the camera and you looking at her in the background looks like one of those keepsake pictures--you know, a really special one because it catches the essence of the mother/child relationship. You know what I'm saying?

Anyhow, that party looks like a blast! Me gusta la fiesta mucho or something like that. Ole!

That giant Dora looks a little awkward...maybe more like an adolescent than a preschooler.

But Wow! This looks like the party of a lifetime...and they're only three, so I'm sure they'll have more of these to come too!
I love the paint your own idea. Very nice.

Wow! As a parent in the 80s I thought I was cool for having my invitations match the cake plates.

Dude, those cookies are HARDCORE! How long did they take you to decorate and how in the world did you get your icing to be black? Did it still taste good?! Did it turn the kids' mouths greenish black? I had a really bad experience decorating sugar cookies with black icing. I tried to make sheet music and piano keys. It was scary. But yours are amazing!

WOW! This is FANTASTIC! I love how you tastefully incorporated your daughters' Dora request without going overboard with the Dora merchandise. Very smart. Very cool.

Holy smokes thats a birthday party. I know what you mean though. My dd first said she wanted a fairy party and I was fine with that, then she said a tinkerbell party, so I threw a tinkerbell party without that much tinkerbell.

So fun! Love that the pretty girls got Dora without the party being too Dora-y. I love the crafts idea and the bouncy house. Their dresses are so fun too! (Were they also made by you?)

I have also thrown a third-birthday Dora party, but it was nothing compared to this fiesta! Everything was beautiful - especially love the craft stations. I've learned you *must* keep those little visitors busy at all times! For the fourth-birthday princess party I piped castle cookies, and totally thought I'd given myself carpal tunnel. But they sure looked good. :)
