Last Minute Christmas Stockings
I promised my friend Anna I would making stockings for her kids. Umm, Christmas is in three days, oops! So I used our Christmas Stocking Pattern & Tute, but I skipped the layering, batting, and quilting and just went straight from cutting out the pattern to sewing it into a stocking, then added the bias tape on top and called it a day!
15 minutes. Sorry Anna... but they still turned out aight, right? The trick is using a stiffer fabric, in this case Anna Maria Horner's ridik gorg Innocent Crush Velveteen in Maybe Memory from Fabricworm. BUT if you don't have any luxurious velveteen lying around, recycling an old curtain or some tea towels would work well. If your fabric isn't stiff enough just iron on some fusible interfacing

I keep telling myself that I am still going to have time to make stockings. I really must make one for at least Quinn. Love these!
If it's insane then I must be too!! I have one stocking for my baby girl's first Christmas sitting on my sewing table half finished (I have to get over my fear of bias tape to finish it), my husband's new stocking cut out and pinned but not sewn, and one for me hasn't even been started yet! I have a good excuse for being so behind though - I've been making check book covers with every free minute for all the ladies in my life!! (I'll send you pictures - they look awesome!) Did I mention a lot of this sewing has been done with my 7 month old baby on my lap? Yup - INSANE!!!!
This is HILARIOUS that you posted this today! I stayed up LAAAATE last night making 3 of these!!!! LOL literally!!!! I TOTALLY posting them on my blog and sending it to you.... TOO funny! still laughing.... Case in point- Not too late!

I need to make one for my daughter, this is her 2nd Christmas, so it's time for a big girl stocking. 3 days is plenty of time to make this and the other 50 things on my gift list, right? I can sleep on Sunday.
I used your pattern and made my daughter a stocking over the last few days. However, I altered it a little bit and put a cuff on it to put her name on. I was beginning to think I was insane for starting it so late, but your tutorial is great, and I whipped it right out :) Thanks for the free pattern!

Nope, not too late. Yesterday I finished sewing a quilt for my Grandma that had to be on a plane with my sister at 7am. So now I have time to do stockings. At least the new baby gets one, then we'll see how much time I have left! Love your site!
Oh, and many thanks for your "sewing with bias tape" tutorial. It saved my sanity when binding said quilt. I have never finished a quilt all the way to binding before and I was a bit paralyzed with the fear of messing it up!

Perfect timing! I'm starting mine tonight and planned to do that exact thing!! I LOVE your site and my sister and niece are going to love the things I can now make! Now.... if only I didn't have to handstitch everything!
You want insane? I haven't quite given up on my insane dream of still making 4 sets of flannel pajamas. Yeah, I'll let you know how that works out.
No way!...i'm still thinking about it now...and will be until I end up NOT making them and thinking about it for next year. :)
If it's insane, then I should be committed. I had to make my daughter a stocking {as it's her first Christmas} and while taking the others out of the box {last night} I discovered that a mouse and nibbled holes in 3 of them. So now, on Dec 23rd, I am making 5 stockings. Thanks for the tutorial, love it!
