Giveaway: World's Coolest Baby Book!
This is Your Book was created by a dad for his newborn daughter, because he wasn't feeling the baby books he came across in stores. I'm so glad he did, because this book is a totally fresh and rad take on the baby book - I love the idea that it's a book made by a dad, that a modern dad would enjoy filling out.
This is Your Book is a modern twist on a baby journal that gives parents an opportunity to record thoughts and fun facts about all the vital information from the day their baby was born. From basic info such as their baby's height, hospital and hair color, to fun thoughts on all the baby names that were ruled out, to random statistics such as the U.S. Dollar to Euro exchange rate and the price of a bottled water, this book will provide great insight into what the world was like when their child was born, and will be a fun stimulus for conversation and education with their child in the years to come. Written and designed by graphic artist and father of two, Ryan Maconochie, also known as Star RM. You can view more of his works at www.starrm.com.
Could this book be any cooler? Check it out:
I'm so excited to be giving away a copy of this book to one lucky Prudent Baby reader. It would be great for your own kid, but even cooler to give as a gift because it will make you seem very awesome and hip. So, to enter this giveaway I am honoring my fave page:
So just leave us a comment with what you would write on that page - what other names did you consider for your kid? I'm so lucky we had a girl because Carleton wanted to name our son Wolf. Yes, just Wolf. He was adamant. Whew. I wanted to name her Zsu Zsu, from It's A Wonderful Life, but he nixed it. There's always next time.
So leave your comment anytime between now and midnight, Wednesday, November 10th. Come back every day for a new entry. Tweet, Stumble, and/or share the giveaway on facebook by clicking "like" below and leave us another comment each time letting us know for an additional entry. We will select one winner at random and send off the coolest baby book ever. And, guess what all you super awesome international readers, here's one you can enter! This book can be won by readers anywhere on this planet. Or, you can just go ahead and order one here: This is Your Book.

Love it! What a fresh take!! Thanks for the chance to win!
Neat looking baby book - it would be perfect for my sister who is due in Jan.
I had a girls name picked out, and my husband had a boys name picked out, and we pretty much liked them both without having to consider lots of options. When we found out he was a boy he got Joshua Naoto instead of Esther Megumi :-)
We said "no" to Louise and Jedediah and Junior, haha! And very glad we did. :-)
I really liked Eli, but if we hadn't have named him Reid, he would have been Henry
Love this book! How neat!!
This book looks awesome, way wooler than the baby book we have now!
*cooler* haha
I love it! hmmm... we always knew what our son's name would be b/c he's named after my husband and my grandfather. But if he was a girl she would have been Arianna. Our next one we are going between Gavin, Xavier, Amelie, Shane (Funny how 3 / 4 are boy names. I guess we'll have to come up w/ some girl names as well!)
What a fabulous book! It would make a great baby shower gift. Other names we considered were Owen, Scott and Jeff. I guess we're not very adventurous with names :)
Thanks for the giveaway!
We were debating between Lauryn (my choice) and Julia (his choice.) When she arrived the nurses, who know of our debate, said, "Oh, she's definitely a Julia!" I almost came out of the bed and took them down. (Oh - and I got my way. We have a Lauryn.)
This is perfect! I'm currently pregnant and have been looking for the perfect baby album! We're going with Celeste for a girl or Drake for a boy:)
I don't have any babies yet, but the top name on my list is Jillian ... but of course I'll call her Jill when she's little. I figure it's never too early to start collecting baby items! :)
this is so cute, we have an adorable pink baby book for our little, but with the new one on the way maybe I can actually get daddy to fill out a few pages! We had the hardest time picking names, weve decided Bianca for a girl (there were only 600 last year...gotta give the name a boost) and Kyle for a boy after my dad :) Thanks for sharing!
We did not know whether we were having a boy or a girl. I actually found most of our names from a name book that groups names by sound. I am a speech-language pathologist so I am definitely sound obsessed. For a girl, we chose Brielle and Aviva. I actually chose Aviva as it was a "high end" name in the Freakonomics book that is also a palindrome and Hebrew, like my name. Our son is named Broderick, but the other choice was Grayson.
My husband suggested Ronaldo, but I'm pretty sure he was kidding... The baby sure kicks like a soccer player but I'm not naming him Ronaldo! :)
We had a boys name all picked out but were still waffling on girl's names when she was born. I'd have liked to have named her Audrey but that got nixed by my husband.
Our alternative was Josephine Brooke, to be called Josie. But because our last name is the same as a certain spaghetti western Outlaw played by Clint Eastwood (not that there's anything wrong with that) we named her Virginia Elayne instead.
I've been looking for a baby book for my new little one due in January and can't wait to check this one out!
I wanted to name our son Zeppelin but hubby wouldn't go for it. I want to name our little girl Moonbeam but hubby Xed that one too:) We named our boy Ethan Lukas and little girl is a surprize!
Our Son is named Will David. Names that we considered were Alec, Ewan, Miles, Claire, Ruby, and Meg. I have always wanted a Birdie, but hubby says no way.
I love that book! My husband and I went back and forth on our son's name - I wanted something simple and traditional like Daniel or David or Robert but my husband wanted something unique like Lucien, Mortimus, Thaddeus, Apollo, and Maximillion. In the end, our son's name is Kennedy John Hongyan :) I got the traditional part for his middle names (one is his Catholic baptism name and the other is his Chinese name)
That book is awesome! My girl names were all rejected - Brooke was one I suggested.
- Danielle
other-option AT hotmail DOT com
The name page alone makes the book worth it to me! Picking out a name was the hardest pregnancy decision I made, both times. I didn't even try to pick out names until the 20 week sonogram so then I'd have half as many to choose from. Even now, I'm 8 days from delivering and I'm still second guessing myself, even though her bedding and diaper bag are embroidered, there are canvases on her wall spelling out her name, and I've already started calling her by it. I think at this point, she's pretty stuck with it. I hope it fits her.
This is awesome! We didn't find out what we were having but we were "totally sure" we were having a boy but when our little girl came out we were lucky that the only name we could agree on was Evelyn so that's what we named her. We call her Evie for short.
Lol! My husband wanted to name our son Achilles! I used my veto and we ended up with Liam and I am so happy we did! This is an awesome book!
Our daughter is named Noa, but we also considered Elsa, Johannah, gisela, and Ivy. I still like them. Maybe if we have a second.
Our Jack was almost a Benson, Elliot, Austin, or Lincoln!
Our daughter is named Fiona, but we considered Pavarti, Lola, and Coco.
For my baby girl named Clara, I considered Elaina, Elizabeth, and Kiley.
Love this baby book!!
That book is so precious. I think it's a must for my baby #2. I especially love the "other names" section. That's a frequent topic in my family.
Oh I love that book! Would be great to have it for the new baby; we are considering naming him Roman, Gabriel, Dante or Anthony.
With our First Daughter We only had two names picked out, Sophia for a girl, or Jacoby for a boy. And for the second we had a lot of debating, We new it was going to be a girl early on, had it been a boy, it still would have been Jacoby. I wanted Jacoba, or Aleida, both Dutch family names. My Aunt Jacoba changed her name to Janie when they moved to Canada, and My aunt Aleida changed hers to Linda. I love the names, and wanted to pay homage to my family. My husband liked Annalilia, a pretty rare name that he heard in a Hip Hop song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01ufWwMV7GI&feature=related
A Rather innapropriate hip hop Song because at one point they yell ANNA - F*n - LILIA. I had a hard time getting over that and accepting the name, but I do adore the name. So Anna F*n Lilia, Ooops, I mean Annalilia it is.
... and I liked it on Facebook! Thanks for the opportunity to win this awesome book.
We haven't picked our Little Monkey's actual name yet, because we can't agree. Fortunately we have until February. But we have plenty of material for that page!
the only serious one: Henry Lawrence (his father immediately said "Harry Larry. NO.")
the rest are me teasing the recalcitrant dad:
* Jefferson Jackson
* Stevie Ray (we live in Austin)
* James Tiberius
* T. Coraghessan
* Roosevelt Franklin
* James Stewart
* George Bailey
and a few others.
What a fun book!
We considered Joresa, Kathleen, and Patsy for our little lady. If she had been a boy, we would have named her Silverio.
looooooooooooove it - so cute! Thanks for the chance to win =)
We considered all of our mothers and grandmothers' maiden names ... would have been a disaster for a first name.
i love this book! i've missed the deadline but our little elle was nearly an ella. i wanted violet or logan but elle (aka ellie belly) she is.
I love it! The price of beer.... that's great, a little different at the one's you find in the store! Our Jack was almost a Max, which is the name of our new neighbors dog. (I still LOVE the name though!)
Julia could have been named Jacqueline, Caroline, Marie or Adeline (her middle name).
I love the part about how much a six pack cost:) We only came up with one name...and that was the name we used! Good thing we had a girl because we were having no luck in the boy department!
Adorable book! Love it! If Lucas had been a girl his name would have been Miranda Rhae, and the other boy names we threw around were Brayden, Cole, Clayton, Jackson and Daniel...all of which my husband didn't care for, I wanted Lucas all along but had to give options, thats how men work, lol.
llonsfordmillsatyahoodotcom
I hope I win. I'm terrible behind on my daughter's baby book. If she weren't Emmeline, she would have been Violet (her middle name), Jean or Bess.
I'm due in just a few weeks... and WOULD LOVE to win this!!
carlyjane35@gmail.com
I always knew my first boy would be named Harvey, ti was the middle name we argued about. I wanted him to be Harvey Alexander William, but my hubby thought it was way too long. He liked Gabriel or Thomas.
I wanted Oliver, Husband wanted Arlyn...
Instead we have a 3-month old Samuel Wesley.
Well I'm a weirdo because I've had my boy name picked out for 3 years and my girl name for 10 years and we stuck to them!
I wanted to name her Piper. When she was born we named her Kenadi then 2 minutes later changed her name to Alexa, but immediately started calling her Lexi. We're not normally this indecisive :D
I like this and might have to get it for a friend of mine.
As for names...
We didn't know if it was to be a boy or girl. So the names we considered for boys were all over the place and we just couldn't figure it out.
Frederick Joseph-felt too old
Emmett Francis was the close second.
Francis Albert
In the end we decided Francis was the middle name and that if a boy he would get to pick the first name. At birth we asked him if he was an Emmett and received no response from him. We then asked if he was a Wylie and he turned!
My friend dreamed about my daughter's name a month before she was born. All the names we had liked before she was born just didn't fit once we met her and it turned out that the name my friend dreamed about was the perfect fit. Her name is Anna and she was named by an oracle (I guess).
Dang what a cool book!!! I would love to have one!!
I wanted Penelope, he wanted Jessica.
xo,
Christen Krumm
PS We had a girl... boy names were easy. Girl's name not so much :)
I "liked" on facebook.

It's weird now to think that my Audrey was almost a Juliet or a Molly. Love the book, hope I win!

oh WOW! what a cute book!!
my husband wanted to name our little guy, "REN" YUCK!
Love it! I love the name Otto but my husband hates it <_<
Love this book! We had a really hard time coming up with boy names, but we considered naming our son Theodore, Julien, or Malcolm (after my dad).
Fantastic book! I actually picked Ansley for my daughter. My husband couldn't decide until we were about to leave the hospital. We didn't want to have to change her name etc after leaving if we didn't name her then. I love it! It suits her perfectly!
As difficult as it was to pick her name, I already have the perfect name for her sister- if she ever has one. I hope no one steals it!
This book looks amazing! I'd love a chance to win.
My Grandchild - an adamant no to Huckleberry for a boy. He will thank me one day.
We are still waiting for our Jackson due a few says before Christmas. He's the son of John (jack) and one of our favorite places to visit is Jackson hole. I love Henry and Elliot but my husband vetoed.
This is an awesome book! We were told to consider "magnum" but I wasnt feeling that :)
My husband loves random stats, so this would be perfect! We only had one name picked for either a boy or girl Tyler Joseph and Mia Josephine) which made it easy!
My husband and I are still in the name deciding phase :) But, I really liked Violet for a girl. He said it was way too close for Violence. I suggested Finn for a boy the other day and he just laughed and said no. He on the other hand LOVES the name William Butler.lol
One of the names we nixed was Mace. One of my hubby's co-workers made the crack "oh, so you are gonna name your kid for the product your wife first used on you, hahaha." That made us realize just how mean we had to be in order for our child to survive elementary school. (BTW, have never even thought about spraying my hubby with mace)
What a cool book! We just named our son Owen, but Oliver was a close second.
Girl names seem easier to pick than boy names...Lord help us if we ever have a boy!!! I've always liked the name Addison (call her Addie for short). I love the nickname "Caz" for a boy, but I don't think I could name my son Casimir! (I have a distant relative named that but obviously he goes by Caz!)
So great -- I'd love to win this!
Really hope I have a boy because I have zero girl names picked out!
My daughter is expecting her 1st baby, and since our family is deep into genealogy, we will try to recycle an old family name again, as i did with MY kids!!Some of these names go back to the 1200s! Here are some she has written down to consider:
Manasseh
Aura
Giles
Hezekiah
Horace
these are a few.. if you think these are bad, you should see the ones were NOT using!!
terri
meterr 70 AT gmail DOT com
If we would have had a girl the names we would have chosen are:
Chloe
Ava
Lacey
We had a boy named Cayden.
i liked on facebook too!
i tweeted on twitter about this cool book!
I like on facebook!
I have a list about 50 names long for girls, but only 1 name for a boy, which we had. Hopefully, the next one will be a girl or it might just end up with a girls name!
We both just knew that we would either name the baby Preston or Tierney. It was so funny because everyone we know took forever to decide their baby's name, and we completely agreed from the beginning. We have a Preston, now we just need a Tierney!
I wanted to name our son Sebastian, but my husband was convinced that the only Sebastian in the world is the crab from The Little Mermaid, so that was out.
We also considered Lewis and Carey.
Our little Easton would have been Asher or Josiah instead, so hopefully he wouldn't have been in THAT bad of shape...
sorainima@gmail.com
My lil girl is 2.5 weeks old. She is Peyton Jameson. We threw names back and forth for 20 minutes before deciding. It seemed too easy. I like crazy names... or so my husband says. What can I say, we have THAT last name. I didn't want 8 million of her name in our city alone.
That would be the most amazing gift to give to my fiance when our first baby is born. Thank you for sharing!
This is a neat book!
My husband and I have picked out baby names for the first boy and first 2 girls:
Charles Arthur (after my grandpas)
Liara Grace (pronounced Lee-ara)
Rhia Genevieve.
Why do the mom's get blamed for the bad names? My husband wanted Baxter...can you imagine?
http://aucoeur.wordpress.com
I had LOTS of names picked out for my baby girl. My favs, vetoed by the husband, were June, Charlie, Yardley, Audrey, and Darby.
We're in the process of considering names for baby #3. Hubby nixes most of mine.....Nolan, Preston, Trent. Well, maybe we can come to some sort of agreement before March...LOL!
My daughter's name is Ivory Rae. We wanted to name her Ivory Joy (Joy is my Mother-in-Law's name). Too much soap.
We also like the name Tirzah (in the Old Testament). My husband suggested Tirzah Joy. Say it out loud. Um, no. Tirzah Ann (my middle name) for the next one.
I'm glad we settled on Ivory Rae for our first born. She's precious and her name totally suits her.
Benjamin Bartholomew Bomgardner. This is what my hubs came up with. I said "Barf." And we have ten more weeks to figure SOMETHING out!
Love this baby book! My other choices were Charlie, Callum, Eddie and about 20 others for a little boy! We had no idea until we saw his little face and knew he was Graham!
I wanted to name our daughter Chrysanthemum, but it got bumped to her middle name.
I wanted to name our son Guy after my dad, but we saved it for the next boy. Mark my husband wanted a portuguese name, so I said no to: Alfonso, Cruz, Erico, Fillepe, until we finally came to Matheus.
Well, I have known my husband since high school and back then he said he would name his child "Velour El Paso." Really? Well, we got over that, thank goodness.
Our first child is due in Dec, so this would be an awesome win!
Wow- so original!
What a cute book. I would love to have this for my daughter, Audrey. The other girls name we had picked out was Olivia. Boys names were much harder for us to come up with, my husband really wanted Huckleberry - we weren't quite seeing eye to eye on that one.
What a fun book! My husband desperately wanted to name our son after a super hero/comic. Like Kal-El, geesh. Good thing I talked some sense into him (threatened leaving him, just joking... kind of).
This kick's my baby book's butt! I wanted to name my daughter Hemingway and my man wanted Autumn. So we ended up with Beau.
We name our little guy Nolan; he born this past Superbowl Sunday, so it's a funny coincidence there's a note about the cost of adds during the Superbowl. We didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl and decided to go in with 2 names for each sex just in case the name we picked didn't match the little person that popped out. Our runner up was Gus, which we still love, so maybe next time....
we went with Gwendolyn, but considered Elle and Hailey. :)
All our kids are adopted, so we didn't get to name any yet. But if we ever had a baby girl I would want to name her Francis after my grandmother
I stumbled you!
and i liked you on facebook!
Oh, I LOVE this book, and I still don't have any sort of baby book for my now-two-month-old!
Two of the names my husband wanted to name our son (which I overruled!):
Borislav & Darko.
My husband is part Croatian, hence the odd names. We had both considered Nikolas, but ended up going with something different.
WOLF? Oh my lord, so glad you didn't!! Scarlet is such a lovely name, anyway. Our daughter is Laurel, which we both decided on together and really fits her personality, but we also considered Pheobe and Mirabelle.
we were between Caroline...Ruby..Emmeline but we ended up with Lucy and we love it! Thanks for the chance to win..love the book!
That is an awesome, awesome baby book! I decided to make my own since we couldn't find one we liked. That would explain why we still have a box of baby stuff, instead of an actual baby book.
My husband really liked Sigurd but the name reminded me of a cigarette so that was crossed off the list. Together we liked Owen and Xavier, but when baby was born he was definitely an Elijah (Eli).
Boys: Callan, Logan, Gavin
Girls: There was never an alternative (we are both madly in love with your name, baby-to-be)
I liked it on facebook :)
That's my favorite page too - and I was going crazy for girl names, I knew I wanted it to start with an E but not be ordinary, so I was getting really creative. I don't remember them now, but they were odd.
Love this! We just brought our first child home last week. She was 3 weeks early and all we had was a list of names we liked when we went to the hospital. We chose Ava, but were debating between Abigail, Isabelle, Zoey, and Gabriella.
Girls names were easy , boys names we struggled with. We have just had our first girl after two boys. My eldest son was concerned that if we didn't pick a name for the baby that the doctor would name the baby. He also thought that if we used the name jasper, which was my sisters cat's name, that we would get a kitten and a baby!!
I "liked" and shared the giveaway on facebook. :)
what a neat book. i don't have children, but i would love to have it for a shower gift. how about i tell you what i didn't name my dog? His name is Carlton. The runners-up were Kyle and Steve.
Well it would've had to be a page for my parents to fill out cuz I don't have any kids yet but my dad certainly had a couple of interesting ones picked out, Vashtee and Aurora (pretty but sooo not me). They finally decided on Bethany but then they had issues with the middle name. They were going to go with Bethany Rose, pretty right? But when your last name starts with an 'A' . . . I would have grown up being a "BRA" thank goodness one of my mom's good friends had enough sense to point that out before it was too late.
We had one set name for a girl that we both loved. Then I had 3 boy names. My husband only liked one of the boy names and it was my 3rd choice. Good thing we had our baby girl and the name fits her perfectly
This looks like an amazing book! My husband and I had some disagreements about names. I loved Bruno, the name of my grandfather. It was vetoed early on. Other favorites of mine...Emile, Basil and Noble. My husband won out, and it's a good thing, because it is the perfect name for our son...Loki.
love it! i'm just starting the search for a baby book for #5--who doesn't yet have a name.
but the names we considered and rejected for the first 4 are numerous...ethan, aidan (so glad--still love them, but they're so popular now), max, ophelia...the list goes on and on!
thanks for the great giveaway!
my maiden name is Dethrow, and my parents said that had i been a boy they would have named me Jethrow, thats right Jethrow Dethrow, thank goodness I am a girl.
What an awesome idea. We are due number 2 at the minute- a girl this time and we have a selection of about 5 names- nothing unusual though. Our son is called James Derek. My husband thought it would be a really fun idea to have 'Danger' as his actual middle name- it was quickly vetoed! We also liked Jack as a first name but it seemed quite common at the time!
We have a 12 week old we named Elijah. If it was a girl we would have named her Olivia, I guess. That was all his idea! We were pretty sure it was a boy.
I so, so, so wanted to name her Agnes (I sometimes think maybe we could still change it hahah). We also love(d) Margo, Clementine, Frances, Henrietta oh the list goes on.
We ruled out Alma, Ramona, Willa, and Clementine. Also Inara, which we are using next time.
When we went to the hospital to be induced we had the names Penny, Maren and Cora to choose from. When our daughter was born we looked at her and said "she looks like a Maren!" And she did look like a Maren...until the swelling went down. 24 hours later we realized she was a Cora after all and so half of her hospital paperwork says Maren and the other half says Cora!
Ben also could have been Ethan and Gabriella could have been Alida. I still like both of those names (especially Alida) but I'm glad my kids have the names they do. They fit! :)
We have decided to name our girl Zoe (we both like it) and Noelle (a middle name, after my sister Noelle.) I was laughing at the "other names considered" page because it seems like all along he had Zoe picked out and I tried to talk him into Valentine, Ruby and Bijou. Oh well, Zoe is cool and funky too.
We named our son Landon but were thinking about naming him Mason or Daniel. My husband wanted Landon all along and I was leaning toward Mason. So after my C-section my husband went with the baby for all his tests while the docs sewed me up. When we came back together, he said he wanted to name him Mason and I had decided on Landon. We went with Landon in the end and we're so glad we did.
I'm a pathetic excuse for a mother because I never did baby books for either of my kids. With my son Lucas was the only boy name we agreed on so Lucas it was. For August, she could have ended up being Sadie....or Silas if she was a boy. And no she wasn't born in August she is named after my favorite uncle.
Wolf. Ha. My husband wanted to name our first child Robot (or Robotica, if it was a girl).
we have an emma(i know, so original!)an alex, a zach, and #4 is sawyer. i also really liked hendrix, slade, gwen, & evaline.
tweeted the giveaway!
I'm almost - wait no I am - embarassed to admit the names my husband has picked out for a boy. Lithium (yes, like the battery -- it's apparently his favorite element on the periodic table. Who says that?) And whenever a commercial comes on that says "powered by lithium" he says see? POWERED BY. Someone please help me!!
amandaandandy(at)yahoo(dot)com
P.S. I told him he needs to think of another name or I am going to pretend not to know who he is in the delievery room and say uhh really it's not your baby...:)
I am due in February with our second and this would be perfect. Our daughter Ella was almost a Ruby or Lola. If she had been a boy she would have been a Ryder.
My husband suggested Navarro this week. I think he is trying to put me into early labor. I don't think that's even a word - much less a name!
I wanted Elsa but husband wasn't crazy about it...maybe for a future baby he'll change his mind. ;)
we had 2 sets of names picked out.
For a boy: Colin John, Emmett Michael, Chester John, and Nevin James.
For a girl we had: Maddison Mae, Rosalee Michelle, Olivia Mae, and we Named Her Maelee Rose.
I love this book. I would love to get something like this for my sister. ( her first child is due soon.)
Well, we always knew Cordelia for our girl. But for a boy we considered many of the classics - Douglas, Gordon, James. We went with Duncan.
My husband and I fought and fought over the name for our girl. He had a name picked out before we met, I wasn't sure about it since it's a unisex name (Riley). I wanted a flowery, girly name. We agreed on a boys' name if she had been a boy, but I finally conceded and went with his name, and her middle name is a tribute to his late mother (Patricia), so I kinda won since I picked that out. For my son, it was just easier to go with the name we had decided on the first time, so we have Riley and Braden. Next baby? We're screwed. We might need a mediator.
This is the coolest baby book I've seen! I just recently had a new little one and this would be awesome!!
If Rebekah had been a boy her name would have been Samuel - still like the name!
We would have named my daughter Aliveah one of the following...
Sophie
Amaya
Maddison
Isabella
and if she were a boy it was going to be Landon
we already had our top 2 faves - avery (girl) and sam (boy)...so, had number 3 been a boy - he would have been max burton...but, we had miss anna jane:D our other girl name was arden.
and i love that baby book! thanks for the giveaway!
What a great book! We're expecting our FIRST right now, and my husband and I have such varying differences in our name preferences. He wants strictly traditional - I like names that are a little more "out there". He has so many rules... "no made-up names", "no last names as first names", "no rhyming names for sequential children", etc. Keziah is my front runner for a girl right now, although it has already been banned. I'm hoping he'll change his mind in the next couple months (or that we'll have a boy, so my husband will be spared!).
My husband was throwing out some odd ones this morning (for our yet-to-be-born):
Albus (as in Dumbledore)
Severus
Leonard - for a girl!
He was being goofy (I hope)
My Husband wanted Bruce for a boy... as in 'Bruce Wayne'... geesh
miette for a girl and ciaran for a boy
Like it! nice giveaway
We could have had Coco, Hazel or Violet (I still love Hazel and Violet!), but we decided on Stella instead. And now she wishes her name was Sarah!
Oh wow so awesome. I wish I had known of this earlier! Our names that were outed for a boy - Ishaan and Eklavyia. Our girl name that got outed by default (he's a boy...) was Arya and Sonali. Perhaps number 2 will have one of those names? and this awesome book?
We named our son Drake. We loved that name from the start, but we also thought of Owen, Ethan and Griffin. I am glad we went with Drake, it fits him perfect!
We considered Briley. My husband wanted to name him Chumlee, but I said definitely not! We ended up name him Bentlee and we love it.
We named our baby boy Gibson, but considered naming him Gill, Finn, Charlie, or Oliver. My husband hated all of these. Love the book! And love Prudent Advice as well!
What a great book! I wanted to name the kid Beatrice - Hubs was adamant that we didn't. He won, and named her after a giant anime robot (don't worry, it's Eva :)
this book looks awesome! leave it to a dad to finally create the perfect baby book. lol. when I was prego, we considered all kinds of names..Molly, Marie, Shayna, Juliet, Rayn, Layla, Lola, and as odd as it is we only picked one boys name..Michael..that was because we wanted to name him after my dad if we did have a boy. Well, just so happens we got our boy. And he's totally attatched to his grandpas side :)
Paige was almost a Daphne. Everyone in the family hated it and her big sister said that she's call her Daffy Duck but until she was born we didn't realize she was really a Paige and Daphne didn't fit at all.
great giveaway!!! Brod would have been Georgia, and Jayne would have been Lucas.
Elliette would have been named Julianne or Annaleigh.
Like on Facebook.
Tweeted it.
We were set on Kamran, but "he" was really a "she" so we went with Alyssa instead!! LOVE this book!!!!
My son Jack was mere seconds away from being named Baily! If born before midnight I got Jack if after my husband got Baily. Needless to say I pushed like I've never pushed before, and won!
Such a cute book, love it! I love Z names and wanted Zara, Zita, or Zoe. My husband wanted Claudia or Stella.
Nice book....but, with a newborn, who got the time to sit down and fill in the "blanks" in the book? LOL I know I didn't with my 2 babies. :P
Kira was on our girls list.
What was his pick for a middle name? Danger. YEP! And while it would be BA to say "danger is my middle name" and be serious it, I couldn't do it to our little lady :)
If we have a boy that may be a different story!
What a fantastic book! Thanks so much for the chance to enter.
I think this is the most awesome baby book ever!
We have a running family joke --- our children were going to be named waldik william, or william waldik after the great-grandpas middle names!
This is a baby book my husband would like and participate in filling the information! I wish we win. :-)
some of the names that lost out...
Quatemoc -boy (temo is the nickname)
Xochitil -girl (xochy is the nickname)
Capri-girl
Malachi-boy (i nixed this one when my husband i were dating. are you kidding me? still makes me shiver)
we wanted to honor my husbands roots in mexico with the first two, our love of Capri, Italy in the third, and the 4th? my husband is nuts.
she ended up being named Isabel Lola. :-) much better!
A unique book that demolishes those that you might come across in the aisles of Babies R Us...sign me up, I wanna win.
To answer the question...we have a shorty due in about a month and have finally decided on the name (My Grandmother's name, which I was adamant about from the start). I think we've finally agreed but it was not without considerable controversy.
Here are some of the options we had going into the final decision:
Elaine (Great Grandmother)
Louise
Frances
Charlotte
Nora
Elanor
Ruth
The best had to be Beatrice...which I almost caved to until it was realized that the nickname is "Bea." Our last name is Heinz. I cannot abide by a daughter by the name of Bea Heinz.
I love the book - and am coming back to enter each day.
I was lobbying for Maya, but all the names we considered were semi-literary, like Harper (and Lee!). We didn't really consider boy names, so it's a good thing the ultrasound tech was right! Will go tweet and Facebook, too! Thanks.
My husband continues his silliness... this time it was Sara as a middle name, first name Kay. As in Kay Sara (Que Sera)
well being prego right now this book would be amazing for my little one on the way... who we are considering naming either maggie or sadie at the moment! but i'm guessing there will be about a million more names thrown around before she arrives! :)
I LOVE this book! What a great gift idea too! :)
LOVE this! This man is a genius. It would be perfect for the baby when she is born. I am 23 weeks and the planning has begun. I showed it to my husband and he is ready to start filling it out now!
We had four lists going....a long and a short for both a boy and a girl. Then we (or rather, I played the crazy-pregnancy-hormonal person card) and decided to find out the sex of our babe. Once we found out she was a little lady, even our "short list" shortened significantly. She was "Lola", "Frankie", "Annaleigh", and a handful of others. It wasn't until I rediscovered the original list, and suggested Ruby, a name that my husband vetoed from the very beginning. When we paired it with the front-runner middle name "SweetPea", it was pretty much game over. Now, when I look at her sweet little face, I am positive that was her name all along. She just looks like a Ruby, and is every bit as precious as one.
I liked this!
we were going to name our son Richard but I couldn't stand the thought of the other kids making fun of him for his potential nickname... and you know what that is :)
Boy names were really hard - we considered Jameson but ended up with Carter.
Our current front-runners are John and Emma. Classic and simple.
What an awesome book! I'm 6 months along, and have been looking for ideas for his baby book. My daughter's almost names were: Layla, Olivia, Hannah, and Lydia.
Had the hardest time naming our second daughter. We wanted a family name, so tried to combine different names. Luckily, we settled on Danielle Jolee instead of giving her some obscure combo like: Gwenerville, Stepharah, Joelinda... LOL!
I 'liked' it on FB.
Weeelllllll! Dakota was a high choice in naming our daughter. Along with Indianna (Indy) and Ellie.
Thanks for this book! It makes it so much easier for dads to be a part of the recordings of their newborn.
Love it!
Love this! My son is named Charles Robert after both of our fathers - I don't like either name;) We call him Charlie! It was the ONLY name my husb said ok to - he nixed pretty much any other name I came up with I love names that are a touch different. He didn't like Harper or Sadie for a girl and I can't even remember other ones off top my head. our baby is 1 already! Our other children are Ian, Emmi and Rhesa. Thanks for chance to win!
Our baby (I mean toddler...time goes by too fast!) is named Cable Ulysses. We love it, and so far, he does, too.
A lot of people ask us about his name. Some adults even make fun of it after hearing it. ("Cable? Is he going to grow up to be the Cable guy?" and "Do you have a daughter named Satellite?" are two popular jokes, which we find incredibly rude.)
We just loved the first name, and it was found in a baby book. It is not "made up", and I often encourage people to look it up for themselves to see that it is a "real name".
People ask us what other names we considered, and quite honestly, I can't even remember many of them. Most of them were relatively common names, like Aidan and Declan. We gravitated towards "Cable" before he was born, so to us, everything else was just forgotten.
(My husband is a real comic-book enthusiast, and I didn't even know that there was a Marvel X-Men character named "Cable" until I brought the name up to him, which he immediately loved. Quick background: There was a man who loved his baby boy so much that he thrust him into the future so that the baby could avoid living in an apocalypse. This baby was named "Cable". Isn't that almost tear-jerking?)
I love this book. We thought of naming our daughter: Chloe, Addison, and Madison.
We chose Parker, but we considered liam, max, and jackson.
This looks like a baby book that we would not only complete, but really enjoy. Ryan, you are brilliant - my husband will absolutely love your work and someday, so will our on the way baby #2.
We've ruled out any "N" names (as last name begins with N). Given our Norwegian heritage we've looked at some older names from our family, but can definitely rule out Ole, Sven and Lena!
LOL! I love that page, myhusband would have a hey day filling that up!!
We thought about Ophelia, Delilah, Delia, but they were too much of a mouthful! I love my little AMelia!
I wanted Alexander James, but my DH insisted that was too long... the result: Alex J!
I 'liked' this giveaway on FB (Aj Ceniceros). Thanks!

I really want Andrew but my husband doesn't like it. We've had a hard time coming up with something we both like!!
Violet,
If you had been a boy, your name would have been either James Robert, Jr. {after your late Grandfather,} or Oliver James. Other girl names we considered were Amelie and Taylor. We didn't choose your middle names {Willow James} until several weeks after you were born. Willow is in memory of your Great Grandfather Walter, and James is in memory of your Grandpa Jim. We hope you love your name as much as we do, Angel! XO

GREAT book by a GREAT guy! LOVE IT!! And it's SO FUN to fill out! (Thanks, Ry!)
I wonder how our child would feel about Synneva? It's an old family name, and we keep coming back to it...
We didn't find out the sex of either baby. For our son, who is now 8 months, he wanted the name Job. Not job, like I have a job, but Job, like from the Bible. Erm... NO! He would have been made from of beginning in daycare! I won't go in to the job jokes... I wanted the name Annabelle Claire for a girl, but he hated it. We settled on Benjamin Truitt. :)
I'm not a baby book person- but this looks like fun!
This is cool. We were dead set on naming our daughter Maeble until the day I went into labor. We changed it to McKinley that morning and a few hours later I started having contractions. I guess she was just waiting for the right name!
